Pretty Women Hustle spoke with Dr. Tess Muricio about the new non-invasive Sofwave™ treatment for lifting the eyebrow, lifting lax skin beneath the chin and neck tissue; as well as reducing facial lines and wrinkles.

Share your background as a Board Certified Dermatologist.

I’m known as “America’s Favorite Dermatologist”, a graduate of Stanford medical school and I have been practicing in Southern California for almost 20 years. My practice specializes in cosmetic dermatology, regenerative medicine, and women’s health. I am proud to pioneer many game-changing technologies and combination protocols to help my patients look and feel they’re very best at any age.

You are the founder of M Beauty Clinic by Dr. Tess in San Diego and Beverly Hills.

What trends are you seeing?

Patients are very interested in natural, nonsurgical solutions for anti-aging and rejuvenation. M Beauty Clinic (San Diego and Beverly Hills) is known for regenerative medicine treatments where we utilize different technologies to activate our own body’s natural ability to regenerate and repair and turn back the clock on skin aging. Patients are excited to use their own regenerative products like platelet-rich plasma, growth factors, and stem cells and are very curious about high-tech skincare treatments like carboxytherapy and exosomes. We combine technologies in a single session to deliver the very best result in our signature treatment, the Time Machine Procedure.

Tell us about the new non-invasive Sofwave™ treatment for lifting the eyebrow, lifting lax skin beneath the chin and neck tissue; as well as reducing facial lines and wrinkles.

There is an incredible excitement for Sofwave™ in my practice! I am frankly shocked by how well it has been received by my patients. We have all been waiting a long time for a technology that is FDA cleared to lift sagging skin without cutting. Who doesn’t want a nonsurgical brow lift, face and neck lift with almost zero downtime? And Sofwave™ is perfect for my ethnically diverse practice since ultrasound is color blind and we can treat all skin types safely and effectively.

What makes Sofwave™ a game-changer? How is it different than micro-needling?

Some of the liftings that we see after Sofwave™ are comparable to surgery and there is almost no downtime! We can expect predictable results with less pain and shorter treatment times, unlike other ultrasound devices. We also don’t have to worry about fat atrophy since the ultrasound is only delivered to 2mm which makes the treatment safer.

Microneedling is very different from Sofwave™ in that although micro-needling can result in subtle improvements with skin texture and pores, it will never provide the lifting that we can expect with Sofwave™,

Microneedling can be combined with Sofwave™ if patients want both lifting and textural improvement.

What are the benefits to your patients?

Patients are very excited to have a nonsurgical lifting treatment with almost zero downtime. We have other treatments that can provide significant anti-aging results like our Time Machine Procedure, but this usually requires days of downtime and sun avoidance which is hard for some of our patients.

With Sofwave™, even in the summer sun, patients can have a treatment and go back to their activities immediately after.

Is Sofwave™considered to be a lunchtime treatment?

Absolutely! Patients can have a Sofwave treatment and then go back to work immediately after and most can already see some improvement they are excited with. And results continue to get better over time!

Is Sofwave™for all skin types? Who is the ideal patient?

For my ethnically diverse patient population, I love that Sofwave™ is safe for all skin types. The ideal patient is someone in their 40s, 50’s, and even 60’s who looks in the mirror and is unhappy about seeing their skin sagging, and desires lifting of the skin of the cheeks, jowls, brows, and neck but do not want to go under the knife. Older patients who may have more advanced skin laxity can still be surgical candidates and will still find Sofwave™ beneficial as long as they have realistic expectations.

What do patients say about Sofwave™?

Patients say they are “transformed” by their Sofwave™ treatment. They are very excited about the final result which comes over time as collagen and elastin are created. They love that friends and family notice the improvement and ask them what they are doing to look so good! They feel confident and very happy with their results. Patients are amazed by their results and feel lucky this technology exists now!

Celebrity Jewelry Designer Danielle Nicole Enright

Starting out as an Artisan Jeweler and Designer specializing in loomed cuff bracelets, Danielle Nicole Enright moved on to lead her own female empowerment brand, ABRAU, adding curated fine jewelry pieces and expanding to worldwide and celebrity clientele. Abrau is proud to be considered a “Pay it Forward Company”, donating a portion of her proceeds to numerous local and National non-profits.

Since 2011, Abrau Jewelry has been included in gift bags for the Academy awards and has been worn on celebrities and on the silver screen.  However, Danielle states that she feels most blessed to have acquired customers all over the world, many of whom have sent her emails or letters telling her that her jewelry has made a difference in their lives, “I love making people smile and to think that what I do has contributed to someone’s happiness is an absolute blessing!” Danielle also enjoys giving back. She donates a portion of her proceeds to many Vermont and national charities, including Women Helping Battered Women, Hunger-Free Vermont, American Cancer Foundation, and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Danielle is a mom of three children and lives in Vermont with her husband who is in the United States Air Force.  All of her pieces are shipped out from her workshop in the Green Mountains and to this day, she handles every order herself.  She states, “I want to make sure that every single order that ships out has been packaged by me personally. I enjoy being hands-on, I enjoy designing, I enjoy connecting with my customers and I love writing personalized notes to them. I bless each order that goes out and I hope my customers can feel that positive energy.”

When did you find your passion for jewelry design?

My passion for jewelry design began when I lost my career in the legal field in 2008. I was working as a Paralegal for the United States Attorney’s Office and was well on my way to establishing a solid, lifelong career in the legal field when I had a traumatic experience and lost my job. I entered into therapy in order to cope with this huge loss and that’s where I discovered “art therapy.” I initially started painting as a way to cope and then I stumbled upon a Youtube tutorial for jewelry-making and the rest is history. I fell in love, instantly. The challenge of creating something whole out of pieces was almost metaphorical to my own life at the time. Learning to perfect and master a new skill also kept my anxiety at bay. As a child, I was musically and artistically inclined and I grew up in a very artistic family. By making jewelry, it was almost as if I was rediscovering parts of myself that I had forgotten about.

Tell us about your female empowerment brand, ABRAU.

ABRAU is a brand that was initialized during my own loss but it’s also a brand that has been built up over time to not only prove my own resilience but to give back to others. It’s a brand that is inclusive and reflects empowerment, resilience, hope and strength. I am so proud to be considered a “Pay it Forward Company”, giving back to others financially through donations to nonprofits and also through my own mentoring. ABRAU is a reflection of how we as women in particular can overcome and succeed despite every obstacle in our way.

In 2021, ABRAU was awarded “Most Impactful Business Award” by DotCom Magazine for the mentoring that she does on the side. Danielle has amassed a large following of ladies on Instagram and she has been called “inspirational” and an “icon” by thousands of young women who are inspired by her ability to stay humble and personable, sharing her own struggles as an entrepreneur. Danielle feels most blessed for the female connections that she has made and her ability to inspire other females to start their own businesses. Danielle states, “to think that I’ve inspired another female to start their own jewelry line or business is the biggest blessing and reward of my career!”

Your jewelry is a favorite among celebrity clientele. Tell us more.

I love to create curated fine jewelry pieces for celebrities! I love the challenge of creating a piece of jewelry from someone else’s vision.  Some of the pieces I’m most proud of were created for specific characters on television and it’s always so rewarding to see models and celebrities enjoying and wearing my work. There are many celebrities that I work with who want to remain anonymous and I absolutely respect and honor their wishes. I also love my celebrity clients who want to shout ABRAU from the rooftops! I treat every client as if they are celebrities, whether they’re buying a $20 piece of jewelry or a curated piece of jewelry dripping in diamonds. I want every woman to feel as if they can shop in my store because we all deserve beautiful jewelry.

ABRAU has been included in gift bags for the Academy Awards. Tell us about your experience. How much fun were the events?

To date, ABRAU has been included in several award show events, such as the Golden

Globes, the Oscars and the Grammy’s. Unfortunately, Covid-19 interfered with my attending these events in-person this year, but it’s always such an honor to have ABRAU included in the swag bags. Celebrities and media who have received my jewelry have always been so gracious and appreciative of my contributions so I will absolutely continue to participate in these fabulous events because they’re so much fun.

Can you share your favorite pieces?

My favorite pieces of jewelry will always be my most sentimental. Just as a painter paints or a writer writes, I am an emotional person who creates jewelry pieces based on my own experiences. Unless curated by a client, most of my pieces have deep spiritual or emotional meaning to me and they are created to guide myself or my wearer through trying times. For instance, the piece that was created for the Grammys this year called, “Through” is a circle with a chain going through the center of it. It’s minimalistic but full of meaning. I was going through a tough time in my life and I came to the realization that avoiding my emotions wasn’t helping. The only way out was through. My jewelry is truly meant to help my wearer get through similar situations because there is no one on earth who is immune to hardships. It is how we get through said hardships that sets us apart.

As we move into the Fall, what can we find?

I’ve been sharing more of my personal life on Instagram and I think that has allowed women to see that we all have the same challenges. People should expect more transparency, as I am currently working on my memoir. I plan on creating a new fall line of jewelry that is reflective of newer and bolder designs as well as retiring older styles and streamlining my website. My ultimate goal is to create a nonprofit that will continue to help catapult women in the same way that ABRAU has. My nonprofit will teach early coping skills, such as jewelry-making, to adolescents. We will also continue to mentor young women to develop their skill sets to create and run their own businesses.

Do you plan for any expansion in 2023?

I absolutely plan to participate in all of the upcoming celebrity events such as the 2023 awards shows. I’m also so excited to be submitting my jewelry for consideration for use on new television shows and movies that will be premiering in 2023.

Legacy Series: Beauty Supply Store Profits

Let’s talk about the beauty supply space and why you shouldn’t sleep on it.  Men, Women, children. Everyday people. Listen up.  This is for you.

The beauty and cosmetics industry is enormous, and there us a way that everyday people like you and me, can create a path to generational wealth in this $863 billion dollar industry (Zion Market Research, 2024 projections) making it one of the most viable and lucrative marketplaces to enter into, right now.

When the pandemic hit, many went to online shopping places like Amazon, leaving a wide gap for those not able to afford Amazon Prime or who don’t like the range of selection for ethnicities.

If you choose to narrow your product selection to popular names and products, rather than everything the brick and mortar try to sell, you avoid being in direct competition with AliExpress, Amazon, and the like.

While brick-and-mortar beauty supply stores are certainly viable, the pandemic has taught us that scalability means removing overhead and the need to shut down if things were to happen like this again.

ONLINE Beauty Supply Store Concept

There are more than 40,000 Beauty Supply store businesses in the United States as of 2021.  According to the Black Owned Beauty Supply Organization, it estimates that only about 9,000 of those are Black-owned.   That’s a no from me.  Why is there such a large gap when we make up the biggest buying bloc of beauty supply products?

Easy. A lack of knowledge, resources, and education.  An online beauty supply store is nothing more than a brick-and-mortar beauty supply store able to service more people than in a particular mile radius.  Beauty is big business, literally.   Products range from nail care, to skincare and just a little in between.  Pretty straightforward so far right?

The Profitability

To open a brick-and-mortar beauty supply store would cost you anywhere from $2,000-$10,000, depending on inventory limits, equipment, space, and location.  The good news is, that we’re specifically focusing on an online beauty supply store. As an added bonus, I’m going to show you how I did it for $35.00 a month, starting with a $0 investment.

Overall, the beauty supply industry has estimated sales that exceeded $450 billion in 2020 and are expected to reach over $700 billion over the next decade, increasing at a rate of about 4%, per year.

Can you imagine having a slice of that pie? It’s completely doable, and you don’t have to have thousands or even hundreds to get started, and you can build a tangible legacy for your family.

Legacy Building Strategy

I cannot stress enough the importance of knowing the size of your beauty supply store, in determining the amount of money it will make. Size does matter here, friend.  So does your product line.  It can take you months or years worth of research to find the best-selling products, the highest ranking categories, etc.

Don’t worry, I’ve done all the hard work and research for you.   With this business model, you can sell online in all 50 states for 90% of your sales, and if you have a station, brick, and mortar, or office, then sell the other 10% offline.   Sell 100% offline, or sell 100% online.  The possibilities are endless, but most importantly, they are attainable and your choice to make.

The legacy comes in when you can offer this same opportunity to others, and earn a small commission every time someone shops on their site.   That’s right!   You can brand your site, and leave it and all of your active Legacy Builder Buddies who have joined you in the journey.

Here’s a quick start-up list to get you started.
