The Importance of Role Models

It can be hard to stay hopeful in such uncertain times as we’re in. Whether it’s a health crisis, an economic recession, or climate change, the future can seem daunting. Yet among this darkness, there is still light from figures we look up to and admire—role models.

Having a role model can be an incredibly powerful motivator in life, someone to look up to and take inspiration from. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a celebrity; it can be anyone that you consider to have an admirable quality worth emulating. They might serve as a reminder to focus on the positive things in life, despite current struggles.

I suggest you look out for people that have a high moral and ethical standard. They tend to set an example in terms of how to carry oneself in the world, and advocating for those less privileged.

Being a role model can also involve leading with positivity and optimism, and believing that good days lie ahead. Constantly sharing good news stories and uplifting stories of resilience can serve to remind people that there is still light, by being a beacon themselves. Who are your role models and why are they a significant person to you?

If you don’t currently have one, not to worry, start looking for the qualities brought up here and I’m sure you’ll find one.

Stay Pretty!
