Dr. L. Ray Matthews ~ Vitamin D Is the Key!

Internationally Recognized and Award-Winning Surgeon, Dr. Leslie Ray Matthews has revolutionized the use of “high-dose” vitamin D in the frontline treatment of coronavirus and other diseases of chronic illnesses such as traumatic brain injuries, heart attacks, strokes, concussions, ventilator associated pneumonias, sepsis, ARDS, and infections. A former Mayo Clinic trained fellow and Senior Associate Consultant (SAC), former professor of clinical surgery, and a former director of surgical critical care and trauma surgery, Dr. Matthews is no stranger to saving critical lives with cutting edge vitamin D research.

Dr. Matthews is one of the most sought-after medical professionals in the country. He has saved numerous lives with his patented approach with Vitamin D.

Tell us a little about your background.

Native of Indianola, MS and graduated Cum Laude from OIe Miss Majoring in BioChem. Formerly worked as Trauma Surgeon and worked at Mayo Clinic for 5 years. Vitamin D3 is what I specialize in now.

How important is Vitamin D to the body?

Vitamin D is very important. You can not be healthy with a Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is actually a hormone and not a vitamin. The vitamin or hormone D controls 3,000 out of the 30,000 genes in a human body, 10% of DNA; among those are your immune response system and your inflammatory response system. Inflammation causes organ damage.

Explain the difference between Vitamin D and Vitamin D3.

Vitamin D and Vitamin D3 are the same. They are made by animals and we absorb Vitamin D3 80% of the time. Vitamin D2 is made by plants.

How can levels of Vitamin D affect the COVID-19 pandemic?

When you have high levels of Vitamin D it can help to fight off inflammation in the organs. Inflammation is an immune system response to a threat. If you are injured, white blood cells flood the area to guard against infection. These cells produce chemicals to fight bacteria or viruses, and these chemicals also increase blood flow to the area. The way COVID works is that what vitamin D does is, like I said, it’s a hormone so it increases your white blood cell count. White blood cells are the things that fight off the bacteria, the viruses, and the fungus. For the medical personnel, if you supplement your patients with vitamin D, about four or five days later, you’ll see an increase in their CD4 count, which is T-cell, or another name for white blood cell. So you can directly measure it in terms of biomarkers. And also in COVID or coronavirus, when you… They have a lot of inflammation in their bodies. You see the C-reactive protein and Interleukin 6, those are medical terms, these are just biomarkers in the blood, and you see those decrease. So you see the CD4 white count go up and you see the inflammation decrease. So those are two things that COVID does. Basically has harmed the body with all the inflammatory reactions that it causes.

What are your thoughts on the vaccine?

Take the pandemic seriously. You can’t see it, can’t touch it and it’s everywhere. N95 or surgical masks are needed. We need to use multiple lines of defense – Vitamin D and the vaccine work in conjunction. The vaccine is long term.

If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be and why?

To be more influential with people so I can explain the disease process.  If that could happen, COVID 19 could be eradicated in 3 months.

Real Estate Diva Genora Smith provides 5 Tips to becoming a homeowner

Gone are the days of thinking that homeownership is out of your reach and unattainable. We reached out to Real Estate Diva Genora Smith and asked her to share 5 Tips for becoming a homeowner.

 Courtesy of Genora Smith

1.  Create a savings account specifically for purchasing your new home. This money will go towards your down payment and any unknown repairs in the future.

2. Work on your credit score. The higher your score the better your chances are of getting approved with a lower interest rate.

3. Go over your finances to see how much house you can actually afford. I always ask my clients what they’re comfortable paying per month.

4. Contact a lender to start the pre-approval process. If you’re not familiar with any lenders contact a Realtor. Your Realtor works with lenders on a regular basis and will be able to give you a few recommendations.

5. Start searching for homes based on the amount you were approved for and be ready to submit an offer. Homes are flying off the market. When you see one you like act fast before it’s too late.

About Genora Smith:

Genora Smith is a Maryland native who had a love for real estate since childhood. As a child, she would enjoy viewing model homes with her mother as an escape from the projects. She would admire the enormous homes and their beautiful interior design. Genora would dream of owning similar homes one day. Years later she moved to Georgia to pursue a career in the fashion industry.  In 2012 she graduated with a Dual BA in Marketing and Design.  Genora was the first grandchild to attend college and graduate with a degree. Moving to Georgia truly changed her life. After receiving multiple real estate opportunities, she finally took the plunge. Welcome Home GA is her new Real Estate business that launched in February 2021.  She chose that particular name because it defines who she is as a person: loving and welcoming. Genora resides in GA with her husband and three children.
