I was drawn to accounting because of its fundamental role in both business and personal decision-making. My ongoing commitment to education and passion for helping others has been a driving force in my career.

As a woman-led firm, do you encounter any unique challenges or opportunities in the accounting industry, and how do you navigate them?

As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry, I face challenges such as breaking stereotypes and biases. Beyond the Chair: Rasheena Brooks’ Evolution from Hairstylist to Business Educator

Rasheena Brooks, Hairstylist of 24 years, Color & Business Educator, Platform artist, and Co-Owner of the #1 natural hair products In the world, WOW Natural Hair Products. Rasheena specializes in Natural Styling, Color & Silkening treatments becoming one of the most sought-after stylists from New Jersey!

As a leader in the industry, Rasheena is very passionate about the Beauty industry and has mentored and taught thousands of stylist hair education. Rasheena has decided to expand by not only offering hair services to clients but also by offering continued education for new and seasoned Beauty pros!! Digital courses are currently available for Beauty professionals. Rasheena believes to be successful in the Beauty industry, you must always continue your education.

Can you tell us about your journey in the hair industry and how you became a sought-after stylist in New Jersey?

Like most of us in the Beauty industry, my journey started as a kid when I discovered I had a passion for hair because I loved to do my own all the time. Then it turned into me doing my friends and family and all of the people around me saw that I had a talent.  I am a New Jersey native and I was fortunate enough to go to a high school that offered the cosmetology course to students who qualified for the class. My senior year in high school, my school took us to the state board and I graduated high school with my license. I’ve been in a salon since then.

From there, I assisted for a while in a couple of different salons. I learned a lot and when I was ready, I applied at a natural hair salon, because I had a passion for natural hair, and became a full-time stylist.  I recommend everyone start off assisting first because you do learn so much in that position.   Working in that salon was great for me! That’s where my career took off for me. I got serious, got business cards and I would get out every day and promote myself.  I started to bring in clients and they would also promote me. Before I knew it, I had clients left and right. At that time, natural hair wasn’t popular. Everyone still had relaxers. Since I was one of the few who did natural hair & locs, my name rang bells when it came to those services because I became known for doing them. So when they became big, I was one of the stylists who always got recommended!

As a hairstylist for 24 years, what inspired you to venture into hair education and mentorship for other beauty professionals?

What Inspired me to become an educator early in my career is, that I was always the type that always wanted to learn. I wanted to be the best so I constantly was taking classes and always staying abreast on what was going on in the Beauty industry because It’s constantly changing. Most people don’t know but in Beauty school, you are learning what you need to know to pass the test. Once you graduate, the success of your career is solely based on you! I was hungry!!!! What I realized is I had the talent but lacked the business education of the industry so I would constantly seek those classes.  I would go to hair shows and be fascinated with the educators. I knew I wanted to do what they did. I would always share what I learned with other stylists in my circle anyway and I realized I enjoyed helping others. That’s what sparked my career in teaching and platform artistry.

What motivated you to co-create WOW Natural Hair Products, and what sets them apart from other products in the market?

To be honest, a product line was always a thought in my head but my business partner, Omar Townes, is the person that should get the credit. He is the owner of the biggest salon suites in the world, Cut Creaters Salon Suites and he is the original creator of a product line he had previously. WOW was something that came to him. He came to me about it and boom, WOW was born. What makes us different is our products are alcohol-free and our products are made by stylists. Our loc gel causes no flaking and no white residue but must be used correctly! We have products that are great for the hair & scalp. Our products for the scalp do not clog the pores.

Could you share some insights into the importance of continued education for beauty professionals, and how it contributes to success in the industry?

Continued education is extremely important. As I stated earlier, things are constantly moving and changing. You have to stay current or you will get left behind. I think if Beauty professionals realized how important continued education is then there would be fewer lawsuits happening in the world and also more Beauty professionals would be able to retire the right way if they were educated better on their finances. That’s probably one of the biggest issues I see happening. We have to work the rest of our lives because we don’t know how to set ourselves up for retirement.

With digital courses now available, what topics do you cover, and how do you ensure that your educational content is relevant and valuable for both new and seasoned beauty professionals?

I currently have a digital product available for Beauty professionals called, Foundations and Formulations Color Theory. Although the industry is constantly evolving, color theory pretty much stays the same. I get back to the basics in the video.

What advice would you give to aspiring hairstylists who are looking to make a mark in the industry?

The best advice I would give to an aspiring hairstylist would be to always be consistent, always continue your education and GET YOU A MENTOR!

How do you stay current with the latest trends and techniques in hairstyling, and how do you incorporate them into your work and educational programs?

I stay current by attending classes, and trade shows, and ever since covid, now we have virtual classes for people who may not be able to travel or just want to learn in the comfort of their own home. Anything new I learn, I implement it right away!  With all of these ways of getting an education, there is no excuse why Beauty professionals shouldn’t always be learning.

As a co-owner of a successful hair product line, how do you balance your roles as a stylist, educator, and entrepreneur?

Balance is very hard lol but I am grateful that I no longer have to be behind the chair full-time. At this point in my career, I’m in the salon about 1-2 days a week and our product line has become my number 1 focus. Starting a company of this magnitude requires a lot of attention and I am currently in the process of putting systems in place and building a team around the world for WOW as we are growing.

From Concept to Creation: The Journey of Clever Cabinets LLC

As the proud owner and inventor of the world’s first smart talking inventory management keeping cabinet systems, Clever Cabinets LLC, Lenekka prides herself as being a not just a designer but one with an aesthetic sense. She’s invented one of the world’s soon to be most unique and innovative products! Because her unique and custom design of Clever Cabinets LLC, her product boasts of being able to eliminate most paper inventory, it enhances consumer and industrial filing routines and systems, as well this product talks in several languages which more will be added as the product continues to grow. Lenekka was also very proud to have obtained her very first two patents & trademarks for her product in 2011 and later on in 2013. Her primary goal is to to provide as many people as possible with her smart talking inventory and management systems. Which in turn will help them manage their daily tasks more efficiently. She has worked with multiple sectors like medical, social , ecommerce and now in software development. She loves new and innovative technology and she’s glad to have a small part in helping to bring about new and smart components of the technology we use today. She as well as her development team are looking forward to bringing the world a new and unique technology that will not only bring longevity to businesses but also help assist the deaf and the blind communities.

Lenekka, as the proud owner and inventor of Clever Cabinets LLC, can you share the inspiration behind creating the world’s first smart talking inventory management keeping cabinet systems?

My inspiration behind creating Clever Cabinets LLC, was I simply became frustrated with having to make several trips back and forth to the grocery because I kept forgetting items that either myself or a family member needed. So I sat down one evening after my sister had told me about a company she had found that helps people who invent ideas/products to bring them to market. So I started thinking of ways to enhance grocery shopping. Hence Clever Cabinets LLC was born.

Your product is described as eliminating most paper inventory and enhancing consumer and industrial filing routines. How does Clever Cabinets LLC contribute to efficiency in managing daily tasks, and what makes it stand out in the market?

Clever Cabinets contributes to efficiency by way of its smart intelligent coded programming to keep an accurate count/information of any and all that have been scanned into its database. So any business or consumer can efficiently keep up with an accurate count of their current inventory. So as items are scanned into the database you have the option to input the quantity currently being scanned in and then once an item is scanned out you have an accurate accounting of what’s currently available in your Clever Cabinet smart system.

The unique design of Clever Cabinets LLC includes the ability to talk in several languages, with more languages planned for the future. How did the idea of incorporating multilingual capabilities come about, and what impact do you envision this feature having on users?

As an inventor and creative I’m always thinking of ways that people of all backgrounds and nationalities can benefit from my product in some capacity. So as I started thinking about other products that are currently on the market I started thinking about how for the most part most product instruction manuals come in English, Spanish, and French. Well I thought that in order for everyone to have an opportunity to enhance their filing routines my product needs to be in a language that people can understand. So I started having discussions with my software developer about beginning the process of programming the device to speak in multiple languages. The impact that this will have on users is that it will be in their native tongue and that they can understand how to use the product because they know and understand what it’s guiding them to do as they use the product.

Obtaining patents and trademarks for Clever Cabinets in 2011 and 2013 is a significant achievement. Can you share the challenges you faced during the patenting process?

The challenges I faced in working towards applying for the patents were of course making sure I had all of the necessary paperwork completed correctly and getting everything submitted to the patent office in a timely manner. And sometimes the mail can be delayed due to a number of reasons. But despite having to stay on top of all of that and other personal obligations I was able to keep getting everything done that I needed to in reference to getting my patents and trademark.

Your primary goal is to provide as many people as possible with smart talking inventory and management systems. How has Clever Cabinets LLC been applied across different sectors like medical, social, ecommerce, and software development, and what has the response been from these industries?

In preparation for setting my product up to talk and function in multiple languages, once the product is ready for market launch medical professionals across the globe will be able to utilize my product to help enhance their patient care, by being able to have information of the patient’s medical records, medications, etc., while being cared for in medical facilities. As far as the e-commerce industries, my product will especially enhance inventory needs for grocery stores, hospitals as mentioned previously, and as far as the software industry…this is a unique and new form of technology and artificial intelligence, that is just mind-blowing! I say that because when people ask me about my product when they see the advertisements that I’m currently utilizing to promote my product, they are blown away simply by the name.., smart-talking cabinets. And then as I begin to tell them what they can do so many people have told me personally that they are anticipating my product launches because there is need/demand for my product.

Looking at the broader impact, how do you envision Clever Cabinets LLC bringing longevity to businesses? What role does it play in enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability for various organizations?

The longevity that I envision for my product is simply…there is always going to be a need to keep up with things and have inventory to provide supply and demand for our economy. As long as we have running and operational businesses they have to have inventory and they have to keep it replenished. In order to do so they have to know how much that particular inventory needs to be replaced and how often it needs to be done. Hence that’s the global problem I have solved for so many businesses and even consumers for their everyday needs. And that’s also the sustainability that Clever Cabinets LLC brings to the table globally.

Spreading Positivity: Myesha K Banks’ Influence Across Social Media

Myesha K Banks has had a passion for self-empowerment and motivational speaking for as long as she can remember.  From her earliest roots growing up in Brooklyn New York, to attending school at Virginia State University and now living in Atlanta Georgia, Myesha has always gravitated toward helping others.

Over the course of over a decade working in the Criminal Justice System in various roles including Domestic Violence Prevention and School Safety, Myesha gained a great deal of experience assisting troubled individuals overcome emotional trauma and hardships. As a result of her own adversities and personal struggles along the way, Myesha founded “Time to be Established” a multifaceted corporation designed to give people the tools and abilities to conquer their weaknesses and become more successful.  Time to be Established or simply TTBE, was built from the ground up and not only provides services such as Keynote Event Speaking, Small Group Lectures and Life Couching, but it can also be found on every major social media platform including Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and X (formerly known as Twitter).  Myesha has even produced numerous podcasts including series such as “Blackout” and most recently “Tap in Podcast by TTBE”. Anyone who truly knows Myesha would consider her a visionary as she is constantly dreaming of the next project. She is never satisfied to be content and is always striving to find another platform to share her message. Driven by her desire to succeed in every undertaking, Myesha has even published a book titled Spiritually Busy and has just created a line of TTBE products for sale.  As Myesha’s voice continues to spread across the globe and reaches new audiences, it only seems natural that her message of overcoming obstacles and finding success will continue to change people’s lives for the better.

You’ve spent over a decade working in the Criminal Justice System, focusing on roles such as Domestic Violence Prevention and School Safety. How has this background influenced your passion for self-empowerment and motivational speaking?

My Experience in the criminal justice system has shaped my approach to helping others overcome trauma and hardships tremendously. It often helps me recognize the importance of empathy, understanding, and evidence-based interventions when assisting individuals who have experienced trauma or hardships. I also utilized techniques such as trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, and supportive counseling to address emotional needs and promote healing. My experience has helped me create a safe and supportive environment for individuals to express themselves and process their experiences. Working in Domestic Violence shaped my empathy and sympathy for people who experience things that I probably would have never understood. Domestic Violence helps me understand the mindset and emotional trauma that attaches to someone and blinds them from being transparent with themselves. After so many years I realized that my ultimate goal was to inspire individuals to navigate their challenges, heal from emotional trauma, and rebuild their lives in meaningful ways.

What inspired you to start your company “Time to be Established” (TTBE)? Can you share the mission and vision behind TTBE and how it aims to help individuals overcome their weaknesses and achieve success?

TTBE “Time to be Established” started in 2014. When I started the brand, it was an online magazine. The magazine was designed to discover up-and-coming creatives who wanted to share their story and their passions. I would host interviews provide videos and photoshoots and publish the content online. Later in 2017, my brand grew into being a voice for the people who were lacking the motivation to live out their dreams. This is when I discovered I was a motivational speaker and wanted to inspire and motivate people to push themselves to accomplish their goals. TTBE from when it was started was aimed to inspire anyone who needed a platform to show their talents and what they can bring to the table. It was a place for them to look back and remember their goals and that fire they once had. I managed to do this with no money, no funding, but with faith. I realized the vision behind it all from when TTBE first started was to give people vision and goals. I would set up the production day and my clients had to commit. Now with such a powerful voice, I can dig deeper into who they are that will stop their fire from burning out. Many people are out there who don’t continue their dreams or have huge gaps in their success because of multiple reasons. My voice my brand TTBE will keep you on track and allow you to fix your mistakes as well as fight and continue to fight for all the things you want in life.

Could you elaborate on the various services TTBE offers, such as Keynote Event Speaking, Small Group Lectures, and Life Coaching? How do these services contribute to the overall goal of empowering others?

TTBE offers many services and continues to grow today. Many of my previous services were designed to only offer services that require keynote speaking, coaching sessions, and event speaking. But what makes me excited is now I am now offering Public Speaking coaching/ Accredited School. For many years, I used to ask myself how long will you just be the prominent speaker and people are only there to listen. I wanted to engage with my clients and community. My services are now designed to develop each individual to become the person they always desired to be. My service intentions are to make my clients the best version of themselves. It is designed to elevate each individual uniquely. My goal is to train, coach, and lead everyone in the different directions that fit their purpose and passion.

You’ve ventured into podcasting with series like “Blackout” and “Tap in Podcast by TTBE”. What motivated you to start these podcasts, and what topics do you typically cover?

Tap In Podcast by TTBE was an extension of my voice and was developed to give my audience and community another side of my perspectives and teaching. I wanted to build a relationship with my audience that would give them hope for a greater future. Most of my topics cover motivational tips, inspiring stories, and perspectives. I talk about the mindset and focus on the self-motivation that each person that is listening to the podcast. My goal for my listeners is to believe in themselves and find positive ways to deal with the situations life throws at us. There are many times we may go through things and want to give up, but I try to give hope and light to each listener who listens to the podcast.

Your recent book, “Spiritually Busy”, and the line of TTBE products mark significant milestones in your journey. Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind this project and what you hope they achieve?

When I decided to write my first book “Spiritually Busy” I was in a very dark place at the time. I was battling depression and could not figure out how to pull myself out. I woke up one day and was exhausted from looking for answers to my problems. I knew in my heart most of the answers to our problems are within us. I started writing a book as I decided to get closer to GOD. When you think about spirituality you may think is just going to church, or being connected to the universe. Being spiritually busy allows you to look into yourself and look at yourself and see what is missing. My book consists of scenarios and short stories with solutions that each reader can resonate with. I did not write this book to please others. I wrote my book to inspire others and give someone who’s reading it a sense of purpose. Everyone has a story and I insist they should tell it. The goal of this book is to land in the hands of each person who can resonate with the storyline. I want this book to touch every hand that it intends to heal and guide with positivity and help.

You’re active on various social media platforms, including Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and X (formerly known as Twitter). How do you leverage these platforms to connect with your audience and spread your message?

Social media was never intended for me to build my community. When I first started public speaking, I intended to inspire and motivate anyone open to hearing my voice. Just recently I went viral on all platforms allowing me to build my community. After going viral my intentions did change as I saw an opportunity to take my gift so much further. I decided to use my platform to engage my audience in a wider range. I also saw the opportunity to build my brand and distribute more content for my audience. After receiving so many positive comments, views, and likes I knew for a fact my online community did excel. I use my platforms to inspire and, motivate as well as coach people of all kinds on how to enhance their voice. By leveraging all my social media platforms, I was able to create a better impact and ultimately inspire and engage with my audience.

What advice would you give to someone who is facing challenges and seeking to make positive changes in their life?

The advice I would give someone who wants to change and seeking to change in their life is first self-reflection. Take some time to reflect on your current situation and identify areas in your life that you would like to change and improve. Set clear goals that align with the values and aspirations. Break down goals into smaller steps to make them more attainable. Find the right support groups for guidance and encouragement. Get ready to embrace the change because it’s a natural part of life. I will have advised them that it’s okay to step out of their comfort zone. Practice self-compassion while treating yourself with the same level of compassion and understanding of your true purpose. I will also recommend staying persistent while committing to your goals and maintaining a positive attitude. Celebrate the progress you make each step of the way. Remember that change takes time and effort and is persistent. Be patient with yourself and your ability to overcome challenges and create positive change.

What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?

My definition of a pretty woman is that hustle refers to a woman who is not only physically attractive but also possesses a strong work ethic, determination, and ambition. For someone who is visually appealing in the conventional sense, it’s essential to recognize that beauty comes in various forms and not solely on appearance. A pretty woman has worth ethics, determination, ambition, resourcefulness, and self-confidence. Overall “A Pretty Women Who Hustle” embodies a combination of beauty intelligence, determination, and resilience. She is a shining example of empowerment and inspiration, showcasing what can be achieved through hard work, perseverance, and a positive mindset.

She specializes in Elegant display of her food and delicious meals, especially her Halal Turkey Wings w/ Made from Scratch Corn Muffin. She is loved for her giving to the community that she lives and works in. She’s also known for her Loved of entrepreneurship and hard work. Her Facebook page Simply Elegant and More, LLC and her web site is simplyelegantandmore.com Stay tune as she re-open Restaurant (Simply’s Place) in May 2024 as a great weekend spot for Breakfast and Lunch in Stone Mountain, GA.

What inspired your journey into entrepreneurship, specifically the food service industry?

As far back as I can remember growing up in South Carolina I observed my father living an exemplary life as a hard worker and entrepreneur. His work ethic was instilled within me and to this day he’s an entrepreneur at heart in action. I’m creative in thought and I believe there’s nothing better than having your own and working for yourself. I’ve simply applied my passion for food and serving others (especially my surrounding communities and our youth) in my business.

What inspired you to open Simply Elegant and More, LLC, and what sets your restaurant apart from others in Atlanta?

After dining at various (and many) restaurants from my childhood up until I launched Simply Elegant and More, LLC, I noticed that something was missing and I felt that I could add something different and special to the dining and overall eating experience.

I add value to meals by purchasing, preparing, cooking, and serving with careful thought, care, and love. It’s a “personal” thing at Simply Elegant and More, LLC.

With over 25 years of experience in the food service industry, what valuable lessons have you learned along the way?

I’ve learned a lot and I continue to learn daily. It’s not just about the food or the food industry. In addition, it’s about people. Learning about people from those whom I come in contact with outside the restaurant, to my staff, to each patron it’s learning lifelong lessons from them as well.

Your specialty dish, the Halal Turkey Wings with Made from Scratch Corn Muffin, has gained quite a reputation. What led to the creation of this dish, and what do you believe makes it so beloved by your customers?

Turkey wings in general are a favorite of many. Especially in South Carolina. The Halal part is a reflection of my beliefs and convictions as a Muslimah. I’ve combined all that with my secret ingredients and way of preparation to make my Halal Turkey Wings a favorite of many!

Community involvement seems to be a significant aspect of your business. Can you share some examples of how you give back to the community through your restaurant?

For many years standing I’ve participated in giving and giving back to the community through feeding the poor and the homeless. I’ve collaborated with countless organizations and groups in feeding through various community events, and I’m often called upon to cater various events because my passion for touching the lives of my community through food and service is what I try to always exhibit.

You’re known for your dedication to entrepreneurship and hard work. How do these values influence your approach to running your restaurant and catering business?

For me, entrepreneurship is not only about money. It’s about taking the passion I have for food and using my ideas to share that passion with the world. I strongly believe that hard work is essential to being successful in anything that one does.

Could you share more on the concept behind Simply’s Place, your upcoming restaurant re-opening in Stone Mountain, GA?

What can customers expect from this new venture? Simply Elegant And More Place will still be a fantastic place to be served eat and to eat wonderful food. It’s about the ‘experience’ and I hope to add to that experience with a few changes (and additions) to the menu and the overall environment.

How do you incorporate elegance into the presentation of your food, and why do you believe it’s important in the dining experience?

Elegance is what I desire from my clothing, my home, and as much as affordable and possible in my life in general. One does not have to be rich or purchase expensive things to experience elegance. I’m expressing this at my restaurant.

In what ways do you stay connected with your customers and community through social media and your website?

Again, the community is important to me. I can still be contacted via my website (www.simplyelegantandmore.com) but I’ve added Facebook and Instagram to that platform to be accessible for ordering, catering, and questions from the community, and to keep them updated on what’s current and happening with us.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to enter the food service industry, especially in today’s competitive market?

Be SURE that this is what you want to do. If you have a genuine passion for food and this industry allow that to be your driving force – especially for the challenges ahead.

What is your go to favorite dish to fix?

Breakfast with eggs. That’s my personal favorite!

What is a great family meal that is easy to prepare?

Cajun-style chicken, peas and rice, and plantains.

Your favorite ingredients that we can find by your side at all times in the kitchen?

Can you tell us more about your journey and how you manage to balance so many different roles in your life?

My journey has been spirit-filled and led by Jesus. Words don’t do my journey any justice because it doesn’t make sense that I made it to such a healthy and happy place in my life, but I’ll do my best to explain it. Most of my teenage years from 16-19 were spent in and out of the juvenile justice system. The domestic violence I witnessed, the exposure to porn at a young age, molestation, and the financial hardships my family faced all contributed to the lens through which I saw the world. A saving grace was that my mom raised me to believe I could be anything in this world that I wanted to be. At 19 I was placed in a transitional home with a family and it changed my life. The woman of the house, who I affectionately call my Auntie B asked me when I first arrived “What can I do to support you that no one else has done?” This empowered me, and I told her to hold me accountable, I asked her to check to make sure my words aligned with my actions because if no one cared around me, I wouldn’t either. I went from being trafficked as a teenager to securing stable employment, promoting 7 times in my human resources career, starting a professional development company, and started a non-profit to connect thriving survivors with opportunities by leaning on Jesus. I leaned on Him through the fear, insecurity, pain, disappointment, and lack. Jesus brought me to where I am, giving me a family beyond just blood, and setting me on a path of success in motherhood, friendships, community, education, and entrepreneurship.

I manage my various roles by utilizing time management tools and techniques. I add everything to my calendar, prepare for my day/week in advance, set reminders to stay aware of deadlines, and communicate my goals with trusted friends and family to help hold me accountable.

What inspired you to pursue entrepreneurship while also being a dedicated wife, mother, and college student?

Freedom inspired me to pursue entrepreneurship while balancing my other roles. I love having time and location freedom to earn a living that provides for my family. Travel is a part of who I am and entrepreneurship allows my lifestyle to align with providing for my family. My dream is to bring thriving trafficking survivors along on my travel journeys to allow them the opportunity to see and explore places they’ve only dreamed of. Travel is restorative and allows trafficking survivors to move forward in life by creating new memories that overshadow the trauma they’ve faced.

With your excessive experience with the overall hiring process, what advice do you have for individuals looking to excel in their job search?

I actually talked about this on the Mac’s List podcast! You can find information and listen to the episode I am featured on here: https://www.macslist.org/podcasts/resumes/7-ways-to-revamp-your-resume-fast-with-ashley-faison

What motivated you to establish Diamond Collective, and how do you envision it making a difference in the lives of sex trafficking survivors?

Diamond Collective will serve trafficking survivors. As a survivor myself, I know that certain experiences inspired me to believe bigger and to trust Jesus. Seeing other survivors who have done the work required to thrive in life after trafficking I have a deep respect for their journey and want to connect them to resources and provide opportunities to participate in restorative activities that may inspire them to believe bigger and trust Jesus more too.

As someone who incorporates faith into your work, how does your relationship with Jesus influence your approach to helping others?

Jesus goes before me in all I do. I live in faith not fear. I am not afraid of stepping into places most would avert their eyes from seeing. I rely on prayer and Jesus’ movement in my life more than systems and more than my abilities. I trust that He will show me the ways to go. When helping others I hold grace and mercy in my heart for what their unique journey holds, knowing that Jesus was with me and sent me incredible mentors who graciously guided me too.

What challenges have you faced in your journey, and how have they shaped you into the person you are today?

Challenges I’ve faced are probably similar to anyone else’s, we all will face challenges in anything we aspire to do in life. Remembering that Jesus is for me has allowed me to move confidently in the direction of my dreams with the understanding that everything I need He has already placed inside of me. The challenges I’ve faced have created willpower and tenacity that move me to continue to take the next step. Just focusing on the next step helps me not to be overwhelmed with the overall processes. And by focusing on the small steps I notice God’s sweetness throughout the journey because my attention is on the small wins (which add up!).

What advice do you have for individuals who aspire to make a positive impact in their communities, as you have with Diamond Collective?

Start. Introduce yourself to the leaders in your community and let them know your desire to help. Be teachable and soak up all you can about organizations that are resources to the population you desire to serve. Stay true to who you are. Schedule in time for self-care throughout the journey. You don’t need a plan, just start.

Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations for the future, both personally and professionally?

My biggest goal is to cultivate a lifestyle that allows me to travel and make a difference in the lives of my family, friends, and trafficking survivors. I want to bring them along for the journey. I want us to explore and see the wonders God has created. I want our minds to believe bigger and our lives to be richer in experience.

Could you please provide more details about what inspired you to start your journey as an entrepreneur?

I was inspired to start my entrepreneurial journey because of my experiences working for others. I noticed that many of my employers did not have the same level of care and concern for grieving families that I knew was important. This realization, combined with my passion for serving others, motivated me to take the leap into entrepreneurship.

Can you explain in more detail how you entered the funeral home industry?

My journey into the funeral home industry began when I was just nine years old. I felt a calling to work with grieving families, and I started volunteering in different aspects of grief, such as hospitals and morgues. As I went through my freshman year at Hampton University, I had the opportunity to attend funerals and console classmates and friends. It was during this time that I truly realized my gift and passion for the funeral service industry.

Please provide more information about Mansfield Funeral Home and its mission.

The concept of Mansfield Funeral Home and Cremations started taking shape around 2010. I began drawing out building plans, naming the staterooms, and developing a mission statement. When I returned to the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex in 2013, I started working for a Funeral Service corporation that owned multiple funeral homes across the country. While this experience was rewarding, it solidified my desire to serve grieving people in a more specific and personalized way. This led to the establishment of Mansfield Funeral Home and our mission to provide compassionate and exceptional service to families during their time of need.

Mansfield Funeral Home has been recognized as the top-rated funeral home in Texas and the D/FW metroplex for several years. What factors do you believe have contributed to this success?

Our success as the top-rated funeral home in the D/FW metroplex and Texas can be attributed to our commitment to excellence, transparency, and compassion. We always strive to provide the highest standards of service to our families, ensuring that their needs and wishes are met with utmost care and attention.

How does your team maintain such high standards of service?

As the CEO of Mansfield Funeral Home and Cremations, I believe it is essential to have a team of compassionate and patient individuals who view their work in the Funeral Service industry as a ministry rather than just a job. By maintaining this mindset, we are able to keep our goal of serving with excellence at the forefront of every interaction. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to our families during their time of grief.

In addition to your role at Mansfield Funeral Home, you also launched Peaceful Pets DFW, the first eco-friendly cremation service in the metroplex. Can you share more about the inspiration behind this unique service and how it has been received by the community?

Peaceful Pets DFW was created to meet the unique needs of families who have lost their beloved pets. We wanted to provide an eco-friendly space and personalized options for families to honor and remember their pets in a meaningful way. The community response to this service has been overwhelmingly positive. Pet owners appreciate the environmentally conscious approach we take, and they find comfort in being able to say goodbye to their pets in a way that aligns with their values.

Your journey as a wife, mother, and servant leader has undoubtedly had its challenges. How have these experiences shaped your perspective and leadership style?

Balancing my roles as a wife, mother, and servant leader has been a transformative experience. It has taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and understanding in both my personal and professional life. These experiences have shaped my leadership style by reminding me of the importance of compassion and the value of serving others with kindness and grace.

How do you use your personal story to inspire and empower others?

I believe in sharing my authentic journey to inspire and empower others. I make myself available to answer questions and provide guidance based on my own experiences and the decisions I have made throughout the years. Aspiring entrepreneurs and leaders need to know that they are not alone in their challenges and that others have faced similar obstacles and can offer support and guidance.

Can you share a pivotal moment or lesson from your journey that you believe has had a significant impact on your success?

One pivotal moment in my journey was when I decided to restructure the leadership of my LLC. This decision taught me the importance of listening to wise counsel and seeking guidance from those with more experience. It allowed me to grow and evolve as a leader and ultimately had a significant impact on my success.

As a philanthropist, what causes are particularly close to your heart, and how do you incorporate your personal values into your philanthropic efforts?

One cause that is particularly close to my heart is supporting and empowering entrepreneurs. I believe in the power of entrepreneurship to create positive change and economic growth. Through my philanthropic efforts via The Christie K. Foundation, I strive to provide resources, mentorship, and support to aspiring entrepreneurs, especially those from underserved communities. I incorporate my personal values of compassion, fairness, and equality into my philanthropic work, ensuring that I am making a meaningful and sustainable impact.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs or leaders who are navigating challenges in their respective industries, especially those considering starting a business in the funeral home industry?

My advice to aspiring entrepreneurs and leaders navigating challenges in their industries is to persevere. The road to success is filled with twists and turns, but the reward is worth it. Stay focused on your goals, surround yourself with a supportive team, and never lose sight of your passion and purpose. Interview Questions

1. How has being a barber shaped you as a woman ?

Barbering has helped me with having patience with my goals & believing in myself. Being self employed is all about having faith, hard work, consistency, and firmly believing in your dreams.

2. What are some highlights in your career ?

Some of the highlights in my career have been growing my brand online & gaining a social media presence. I have been posting content (@FlyFemaleBarber) merging Fashion & Barbering showing my day to day work. I’m so proud because I don’t have a team, it’s all me! I style myself and edit/shoot the content. Also, working with Luster’s Hair Care at the Chicago Black Women’s Expo. I’m really proud of the journey Barbering has taken me on.

3. What are some challenges you had to overcome ?

It was a challenge to gain clientele in the beginning of my career. People assumed that I couldn’t cut hair and judged me from my appearance. Being a woman is difficult in a male dominated industry, however I never gave up and let my talents speak for themselves.

4. How are you able to multitask your business and personal relationships ?

Having a work/life balance is something I haven’t mastered. Honestly, that hasn’t been my goal right now. I’ve been locked in on my personal goals, unapologetically. Owning a business & being a content creator is time consuming. I decompress with shopping, binge watching Scandal & enjoying some much needed “me time”.

5. Do you see yourself as a celebrity barber/ stylist ?

I don’t see myself as a Celebrity Barber. I am an Artist first. I am a Fashion influencer & I am talented in the craft of Barbering. I do feel God is using my talents to motivate and inspire others in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

Averianna The Personality: Redefining Success in Music City

Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Paige initially aspired to be a professional dancer on Broadway due to her natural talent in tap, ballet, jazz, and hip-hop dance. However, upon entering college, she shifted her dreams toward journalism. Paige, now known as “Averianna The Personality”, became a news anchor at MT10 and a Sports Sideline reporter at MTSU. She evolved into a prominent television and radio personality, interviewing celebrities, hosting red-carpet events, and working for figures like Kellie Pickler and Steve Harvey.
Averianna has not only become a popular media personality but has excelled as an Executive Producer and entrepreneur in Nashville. “Averianna The Personality” has expanded her brand and is now recognized as “The Voice of Cashville”, solidifying her influence and presence in Hip-Hop and R&B, as well as the local scene. She is the proud host of her own podcast “The Voice of Cashville”, where she engages with local hip-hop and R&B artists. Additionally, Averianna hosts her own television show, “ATP’s Music City Check-In”.

We had the opportunity of sitting down with Averianna to discuss her passion and journey to creating “The Voice of Cashville”:

Paige, you initially aspired to be a professional dancer on Broadway but shifted toward journalism in college. Can you share the journey of this transition and how it has influenced your career in media and entertainment?

Honestly, I just believe it was the evolution of myself and getting out in the world, seeing more, learning more. I’ve always been in front of the camera since I was little. So, to answer this question precisely, when I was a child, I didn’t have a voice, but I had a talent. As I found myself, I found my voice, and that cultivated “The Personality.”

How do you think your background in dance has shaped your approach to hosting and presenting as “Averianna The Personality”?

It was all a part of the process and a part of the plan. I believe dance and all the genres I excelled at were the stepping stone to me not being afraid to be in front of the world or the crowd. Dance put me in front of, and in rooms with, a lot of different people with many different walks of life.

You’ve had an impressive career, from being a news anchor and sports sideline reporter to evolving into a prominent television and radio personality. What has been some of the standout moments or milestones in your media journey?

Sideline Sports Report was a highlight of my career, only because I didn’t even really understand the position I was in when I was in it. I was working for American Sports, Being Sports, ESPN 3. It was an amazing time in my career. I wish I knew more back then. All of the major red carpet appearances stained my heart, from NAACP Awards, to BET, BET Hip-Hop, Soul Train, Black Honors. Any honorary award is near and dear to me. My most recent acknowledgment was from the Southern Entertainment Awards as Personality of the Year 23.

Working with figures like Kellie Pickler and Steve Harvey is no small feat. Can you tell us about your experiences and key takeaways from collaborating with such renowned individuals?

Kellie Pickler, that woman! I love her so much. She was the one who really showed me the ropes of the entertainment world as a TV personality. I was her right-hand man, her assistant. Kellie showed me how to stand in power the entire season. I just really learned the ins and outs of the business with her. She always had my back on whatever. As for Steve, he’s Uncle Steve; he always had a motivational message on set for us in between filming. His story, his testimony, and vulnerability were major takeaways. He always expressed that he was human, but he never gave up on himself!

Hosting your own podcast and television show, “The Voice of Cashville” and “ATP’s Music City Check-In,” respectively, is remarkable. What inspired this venture, and what topics do you explore on your platforms?

Thank you guys so much. Honestly, doing for other people and then not having the creative space I needed to grow when it was time for me to expand. I’ve worked for or interned at pretty much all the major radio and television outlets in Nashville, TN, so I’ve been a sponge this whole journey, and I thought now it’s time for me. I wanted to have two separate entities to express myself in different manners and to always expand the platform for my city.

Averianna The Personality” has expanded into “The Voice of Cashville.” How did this transformation occur, and how has it solidified your influence in the Hip-Hop and R&B scene, both locally and globally?

I manifested that name; I’ve always wanted more for my city as a little Black girl in a country town. I was given a vision, put my head down, and put in the work. That’s how the name has expanded among my community and supporters around the world. I don’t think the name solidified me; I think the work did, and then my peers and supporters were like, “Well, yep! She’s that and deserves that title.” I know that Averianna Patton is global, but Averianna the Personality is still putting in the work for global recognition, and I believe she’s well on her way to reawakening the Hip-Hop scene in Music City. Also, cultivating a space for female Hip-Hop MC’s in the Music City. I’ll be known for building a global platform for Hip-Hop and R&B artists in Music City!

Can you share some insights into your role as the event coordinator and community engagement manager at the National Museum of African American Music and how it has influenced your media work?

I was responsible for engaging the community with the museum itself. I did a lot of school and community pop-ups on behalf of the museum. I also attended board meetings as well as school meetings regarding the bridge of community with schools. I put on several events at the museum that brought out the community and major musical influences. It allowed me to showcase my talents on a day-to-day basis socially and just build stronger connections in my community for myself.

Your involvement in community events and philanthropy, such as raising funds for the AIDS Walk and curating musical lineups for Juneteenth celebrations, is commendable. How do you see your role in media intersecting with community engagement, and what impact do you hope to make?

Thank you! I still don’t believe I did as much as I did in 2023! As mentioned before, I see myself being the voice/face and advocate for the Hip-Hop and R&B community. Beyond that, showing Black Nashville, especially natives, that we can thrive at home in the Music City! I will house the #1 Hip-Hop and R&B outlet in America! By housing a powerhouse as such, I will have the tools and resources to continue to pour back into my community in whatever ways are needed.

Hosting the official alumni day party for TSU Homecoming is another notable event. How does it feel to be a part of such important occasions in your community?

I have also been apart of tsu Homecoming and their festivities but this was the next level! It felt like Cashville x tsu collab. It stood for so much for than me and my experience. As for me though It was an amazing day and TSU made me feel at home even though I’m the step child!

Dropping the Strickly4TheLadies Vol. 4 Mixtape is a testament to your support for female artists in the music city. Can you elaborate on the inspiration behind this project and its impact on the local music scene?

This mixtape celebrates the amazing talent of female MCs in the Music City, filled with incredible beats, empowering punch lines, and unforgettable lyrics. #Strickly4theLadies Vol. 4 is all about celebrating the strength, talent, and beauty of women. This project was able to display women empowerment, networking, and what connecting with like-minded individuals who appreciate the artistry of female Hip-Hop MCs in the Music City looks like! Right now, the movement is taking off; we are at the beginning stages, almost a month into January 15th, so we are at the beginning of the rollout, but I know all 5 will make it out! MARK MY WORDS! S/o to the ladies of Hip-Hop: Memedagoat, Blasian B3, SweetPoison, Iman Dillard, Chell Foxx.

How do you continue to cultivate a space for female MCs, and what changes or progress have you observed since starting this initiative?

Honestly, I’m just flowing. Considering I’m the first of my kind to cultivate something like this, there is no blueprint or right or wrong way. I’m following where God leads us. I think it’s easy for me to speak for them because I am them; I just don’t rap. I am a woman, I’m Black, I’m in a male-dominated industry—music, TV, film—it all starts to mesh. It’s like they speak for me in their songs, and I speak for them on the platform and to the world about them, and sometimes for them. I’ve seen the city start to step up and support a lot, especially because it’s new—females. I just want the world to know that we, CASHVILLE, have been inspired by other women around the world, and we decided to come together and create a movement for our home as well to inspire.

Looking ahead, are there any upcoming projects or initiatives you’re particularly excited about that your audience can anticipate this year?

Yes, recently I was the Master of Ceremonies at Mt. Zion’s Business Connect Brunch that took place on January 27th at the J.W. Marriott. That day, I also hosted Trap Bingo.

I will be hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Super Bowl Party on February 11th at Ponobe’s Party Bar and Grille. Get your tickets!

I will be on the SXSW stages in March 2024, as well as relaunching Averianna the Personality Music City Check-In.

So there is a lot to be on the lookout for.

How do you envision the future of “The Voice of Cashville” and your role in the media landscape, especially considering the ever-evolving nature of the industry?

She will be thriving on top of the world. She will have her TV show housed in her hometown, Nashville, TN, which will be the #1 Hip-Hop and R&B outlet in America. The podcast/radio show will be the city’s #1 cultured news outlet. She will be standing in that name’s power and creating the necessary changes for the evolution of the world and my community!

Reflecting on your journey, is there a piece of advice you wish you had received when you were starting your career?

Everyone changes, and nothing lasts forever, so truly enjoy every moment.

What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?

We had the pleasure of sitting down with Yolanda to discuss her journey into entrepreneurship, balancing motherhood and business and so much more:

What inspired your start into entrepreneurship?

I’ve always looked at entrepreneurship as being my own boss, making my own hours, doing what I love and most importantly the freedom to make my own decisions.

We hope GoPrettyBoutique becomes a source of empowerment for women who may have felt underrepresented or struggled to find clothing that embraces their unique body shapes. Our inclusive range of products is designed to celebrate diversity and encourage women to embrace their individuality.

We actively work to ensure that GoPrettyBoutique reflects and celebrates the diversity of women from different backgrounds by incorporating a wide range of styles, sizes, and designs. Our goal is to make every woman feel seen and catered to.

Can you share a specific moment or challenge that tested your resilience and determination, and how you navigated through it?

Every challenge has been an opportunity for growth. A specific moment tested our resilience when securing quality materials became challenging, but through determination and resourcefulness, we found alternative suppliers, ensuring the continuity of our vision for GoPrettyBoutique.

How do you envision GoPrettyBoutique fostering a sense of community among its customers?

GoPrettyBoutique fosters a sense of community among its customers through engaging social platforms, exclusive events, and a personalized shopping experience. We encourage women to share their stories and style journeys, creating a supportive community.

Are there changes or trends in the fashion industry that you would like to see, particularly regarding diversity and body positivity?

We aspire to see positive changes in the fashion industry regarding diversity and body positivity. It’s crucial for the industry to embrace and celebrate all body types, and we hope to contribute to this positive shift.

Looking ahead, Where do you hope to see GoPrettyBoutique in the next three to five years?

In the next three to five years, we envision GoPrettyBoutique as a go-to destination for inclusive and empowering fashion. We aim to expand our product line, reach a broader audience, and continue fostering a community of confident and stylish women.

What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?
