How did empowered women empower get their start?
Empowered Women Empower was actually birthed before I had ever imagined starting a business. I wrote papers on women’s empowerment when I was in graduate school. I had always envisioned the empowerment of women being a catalyst for change. Once I launched DR Global and began my journey of connecting, empowering, and building women thru my many trade shows and conferences, I utilized the Empowered Women Empower brand. As I continued on this journey, I soon realized that EWE was so much more than just a brand it was an entire movement!
When did you realize you held a passion for creating spaces that encourage and uplift women?
I always had a passion for Women’s Empowerment early on in my life, and I would always have gatherings with friends and family where I would talk about the power of affirmations and mindset, as well as how we as women need to stick together to support one another. It wasn’t until 2020 that I truly realized how this passion could create the EWE movement. I had begun hosting Popup shops at the different retailers where my Cosmetic line Bronzed GLO Beauty was housed, and I would come across other women who also had products and services and wanted to bring exposure to their brands. It was at this point that I started bringing in other businesses because it was important to me to help assist other women business owners on their journey. It brings me so much joy to empower women and to see them develop.
You have hosted several events through your company, can you share the experience women can expect when connecting with Empowered women empower?
Absolutely! EWE is not your average Popup Shop! It is an experience! We not only bring in our participants to market and sell their products and services, but we also provide an atmosphere for networking too. Relationship building is a big component when attempting to scale your business, and EWE does just that! Women can expect to gain not only monetary gains at our popup shop expos but valuable connections and learning opportunities that will catapult them forward.
Tell us about Bronzed GLO Beauty?
Bronzed GLO Beauty, Organic Cosmetics was birthed with the mission and vision for every woman to feel beautiful in their own skin. Before BGB was launched, I had begun making my own bronzers. I found it incredibly hard to find a shade that matched my skin’s completion to my liking, and it seemed that each one I tried made my skin break out. So, I decided to make my own out of natural products. I would go to work, and the women at my job would tell me how beautiful my skin was and how I had such a glow! I would tell them that I made it, and they would ask me if I could make some for them. I then began making my own lotions and creams and lip glosses which had the same effect. I had actually started a business but didn’t even realize it at the time. It wasn’t until June of 2019 that I woke up at 3a.m with the vision of starting my business I tried to shake it off, but the urge was so strong that I couldn’t. I got up and immediately started researching. I had no idea what I was doing, but I was determined to make it happen. I made all my products by hand, and less than thirty days later, I officially launched Bronzed GLO Beauty.
What is the creative process of creating and marketing new products for the luxurious woman?
The beauty industry is a billion-dollar industry! But not all who enter are truly for the betterment of the consumer. Bronzed GLO Beauty Organic Cosmetics is a luxury brand that stands behind its name and vision. I curate my products from only the finest natural ingredients. BGB wants all who purchase to not only look good wearing the product but to feel good! And what better way than to know that your skin is being taken care of organically! Without breaking the bank. BGB has created a brand that is not only quality but affordable.
Your company has now reached over six retail locations, can you share what obstacles you had to endure to get to this point?
The process was overwhelming at times. When I first started out, I would work my 9 to 5, get off work, and then go straight to work on my business. I was constantly educating myself on the industry, all while making products, creating my website, and marketing. I never knew I had that much energy! But as the saying goes that when you are passionate about something, it doesn’t feel like work! I can definitely say that I learned during this process just how much drive and determination I had, and it definitely has had its rewards! I was completely determined to get my line off the ground and into the hands of women everywhere, and I still carry this same drive and passion today.
What advice do you have for upcoming entrepreneurs?
Great Question! I have three words that were told to me, and I say it often to others that I mentor and coach on their journeys, “ Stay The COURSE”
It sounds like a simple phrase, but in all actuality, it is a lot harder than it sounds. Staying the course requires discipline, faith, and being intentional and deliberate!
Tell us about your book “Finding Greater Purpose with Self- Knowledge”?
Transformation – Finding Greater Purpose With Self-Knowledge is a book that really tells my journey, and it was written to inspire, motivate and empower all who read that they too can do it! This book gives very specific steps that will help one unveil their true purpose/passion. It was important to me to get this information out to the public. You see, as long as your mind stays in a constant state habit formed negativity, you will never get to that desired place of purpose. We all have a purpose! We all have a gift! We are all creative! And it all begins with the Transformation of your mind.
What message do you hope women take away from your work?
I would have to say that the biggest message I hope is taken is YES, YOU CAN!
If I can do it, so can You! But it is imperative that women and people in general alike get and keep a positive mindset.
If you believe it, you can achieve it.
What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?
A Pretty Woman Who Hustles, I would have to say, is a woman that Empowers, Educates, Uplifts, and isn’t afraid of doing the hard work it takes to succeed in business and beyond!
