You are from the city of Dayton, correct? Reflect on your childhood and growing up, what experiences influenced who you are today?

Yes!!! You know it!! The DYT as we call it. Home of Aviation and the Gem City. Dayton, OH is very small, and rough and a lot of people do not make it out, but it made me into the woman I am today. There have been numerous obstacles that I have had to overcome, and those obstacles are the driving force behind my passion and purpose. Growing up without a father who was in the streets but was the ultimate hustler, growing up way too fast having to help raise my younger sisters at a super early age, seeing my mother struggle but never giving up and making numerous sacrifices, working multiple jobs to provide for our family, moving out of the house at 16/17, having to protect/defend myself and my sisters constantly, my grandmothers, aunts, uncles, cousins teaching me valuable lessons along the way …Ultimately Dayton, OH taught me how to thrive in adversity so I know that there is literally nothing in this world that I cannot do. Without Struggle, there is no progress.

When did you realize you had a passion for entrepreneurship and helping others find their purpose?

I first realized I had a passion for entrepreneurship by seeing the women in my family have multiple side hustles which turned into businesses. My mother braided hair, my grandmother did babysitting and had a cake company and my aunt had a catering business that I started working at when I was 13. From a young age, entrepreneurship was in me, I just did not know what it meant or how to obtain it. My family did what they had to do in order to survive and provide so they didn’t have time to teach us but I watched and learned. I sold everything from yo-yos, lip gloss, hot Cheetos, and kool-aid to candy, pickles, socks, and hair ribbons and then I started doing hair and nails for everyone in the city. I’ve been helping others since I was 7 years old so I knew early on that helping others find their purpose would somehow be a part of my purpose. Especially after my childhood experiences and then eventually going to college for Psychology and working as a Case Manager for juvenile delinquents, foster care kids, and teen girls.

You have worked in the media industry for many years, can you share your greatest accomplishment thus far?

My greatest accomplishment thus far would be having my first sold-out premiere with me as the lead actress and also winning “Best Female Actress” in the Black Art and Film Festival in Tampa for that same film. This film, “Butterscotch Chocolate” (out on Amazon Prime) challenged me in so many ways and it really opened up the conversation for mental illness within our African -American community especially in Black women as we are known to typically portray that “strong black woman” image.

What obstacles did you have to overcome to reach your goals?

Life. Sometimes Life be Lifeing and it can make it difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It can make it difficult for you to still see the vision, be consistent, and get back on the course. A few obstacles I’ve dealt with are anxiety and depression, fear, health issues, failed relationships and friendships, domestic violence, lack of support from loved ones, financial hardships, etc. But what I’ve learned is that direction is more important than speed and that life is a journey to be experienced. So no matter what obstacles come, as long as you find a reason to keep going then you’ll understand that the obstacles are only there to make us build up even stronger. During Covid-19 everything was on hold so I started spending more time working on myself, doing self-care activities, and using essential oils to help with my anxiety. So, as a natural-born leader, creative and hustler, I saved the few unemployment checks I was getting and birthed “Uphoric Xpressions”.

What message do you hope women take away from your platform?

Most people who know or meet me can see that I am big on Self-Care, Women’s Empowerment, Positive Vibes, and Mental Health Awareness. So I hope all my Queens get inspired and motivated and understand that ” You are your greatest investment”!! So make sure you always put yourself first no matter what 🙂 You deserve and owe yourself all of the love that you so freely give to others. Lastly, authenticity and consistency are 2 key ingredients to being successful. So never give up and GET GASSED UP!!! YOU GOT THIS!!!

What is next for you in 2023?

2023 is the year of ME. Really just elevating and stepping my game up all around in every aspect of my life. I am the ultimate hustler and creating generational wealth is extremely vital, so in 2023 I am getting it done. I am dropping an Ebook for The Passion Xperience, expanding the Uphoric Xpressions brand, working more with teens, and domestic violence victims and spreading HBCU awareness, taking on more speaking engagements and interviews, starting my AIR BNB business, acting on major TV shows and movies,(MAN) IFESTING my dream man and more.

What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?

A pretty woman who hustles is a woman who doesn’t wait for opportunities but creates them. She doesn’t beg for a seat at the table because she is the table and brings others to it with her. She knows the power of her light and doesn’t dim it for anyone. She is about her business 1000% and doesn’t make any excuses for what she wants. She uses her passion to fuel her purpose and ignites that same fire in others. She is me!!!
