The Most Beautiful Thing You Can Wear Is Resilience
Beauty has always been at the center of Chiquita Mason’s story, but for her, it has never been only about products or aesthetics. It has been about expression, confidence, healing, and purpose. As the founder of Redefined Beauty, she has created a brand that speaks to women who want quality, ease, and a touch of luxury in their everyday routines.
Her path in beauty began behind the makeup chair, where she worked with clients including Kindred the Family Soul and discovered just how deeply the industry aligned with her gifts. But her journey has also included seasons of personal loss and rebuilding. After the death of her first husband, Chiquita stepped away to focus on healing and motherhood, holding onto beauty as a steady part of her identity through it all.
Now, as a wife, mother, and entrepreneur, she is channeling that lived experience into a brand rooted in both style and substance. Through Redefined Beauty, Chiquita is offering more than lip products — she is creating a space where women can feel seen, supported, and beautiful on their own terms.
How do you personally define beauty now, compared to earlier seasons of your life?
Earlier in my life, I think beauty was more about appearance and trying to meet certain standards. Now, I define beauty as confidence, self-acceptance, growth, and the way a woman carries herself through every season of life.
You’ve been through profound personal loss and rebuilding. How did that season shape the woman and entrepreneur you are today?
Going through the loss of my first husband completely changed my life and, for a period of time, put many of my personal dreams on hold. That season forced me to focus on surviving, rebuilding, and being strong for my daughters while navigating grief and major life changes. But through that journey, I discovered a deeper sense of resilience, purpose, and faith. It shaped me into a stronger woman and ultimately gave me the courage to finally pursue the dream I had carried for years. Redefined Beauty represents more than just beauty products to me; it represents perseverance, rebuilding, confidence, and the reminder that it is never too late to rediscover yourself and go after your purpose.
How do you manage work-life balance as a wife, mother, and founder while still making space for your own growth?
Finding that “sweet spot” between a thriving brand, marriage, and motherhood is not about a perfect 50/50 split every day. Some days the business needs 100%, and other days my family needs every bit of me. I manage it by being present wherever my feet are. When I’m with my kids and my husband, I’m all in. When I’m building Redefined Beauty, I’m focused. Making space for my own growth means I’ve had to learn that saying “no” to some things is saying “yes” to my own peace.
What helps you stay grounded when life gets full or overwhelming?
When life gets overwhelming, I stay grounded by centering myself in moments where I can just be me. Whether it’s sitting in silence to clear my head or enjoying time with my daughters, those moments help me reset. My husband is my greatest confidant, and whether we’re out to dinner or traveling the world, time with my family is my safe space. They don’t see a CEO; they see a mom and wife, and that reminds me that while I’m building a brand, I’m also building a life I love.
What do you hope your daughters and other women learn from your journey of resilience and reinvention?
More than anything, I want my daughters to be proud of the woman I’ve become. They’ve seen me navigate struggles and low moments, and I want them to understand that life isn’t about never failing; it’s about how you rebuild. I hope my journey shows them, and every other woman watching, that you have the power to reinvent yourself at any stage. I’m not just building a brand — I’m building a life that proves resilience is the most beautiful thing you can wear.
