Meet Dr. Raykel Tolson

Dr. Raykel Tolson is a Money Mindset Consultant who encourages women business owners to elevate their thoughts surrounding money while offering practical solutions to grow and protect their money. She is also an author who writes fiction, nonfiction, and children’s picture books. Dr. Raykel is a contributing writer for the Living Day by Day Magazine and host of the podcast Blessed: Mindset Matters on WYTV7, where she enlightens, encourages, and entertains her audience while reminding them that being blessed is a mindset.

Dr. Raykel is a New Thought Christian tackling the limiting religious beliefs that many Christians hold onto tightly. Beliefs that cause them to feel unloved and unworthy and that offer them no peace. Dr. Raykel stresses that we need to think about what we think about; because what we think about is what we bring about.

Raykel was born and raised in University City, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, but currently resides in Los Angeles.

Who is Dr. Raykel Tolson in four words?

 God’s expression of good

What inspired your interest in financial literacy and teaching others about finance management?

I was first only inspired to share my story of how my unbelief kept me from buying a house when I moved from Orlando to Los Angeles. That is why I wrote the book Why Are Church Folk Poor? Elevate your thoughts & exercise your faith to live an abundant life. I realized that people need more than just to think prosperity. They also needed simple and practical steps to create wealth. And the first step is learning how money grows.

What programs do you currently offer with Money Mindset Consulting?

I currently offer a year-long program to help women entrepreneurs & professionals to get their minds on the money. We start off with the mindset surrounding money and end with creating money habits that will create wealth and freedom. I also offer free Retirement Readiness Assessments, and I co-host a monthly virtual networking event for women, Wine, Women & Wealth.

What advice do you have for new entrepreneurs looking to create a financial system for their business?

The best advice I can give is to invest in your future and to prepare for the unexpected. If a solopreneur gets sick, the business stops unless she has the funds to hire someone.

Can you share a little about your podcast “Blessed: Mindset Matters”?

Kate Spade’s death by suicide affected me. This woman had millions, a loving relationship with her child and father, and I’m sure she lived a life a luxury that most only dream about. Nevertheless, Kate decided to end her life. I then realized that being blessed was not about what you have or who you have in your life. We have to make a daily decision to be blessed. I don’t have my beach house or my sexy, supportive husband yet, but I can still decide to be blessed. I started the podcast to remind the listeners that being blessed is more than just a hashtag on social media. Their mindset determines everything.

Where do you hope to see your platform in the next 3-5 years?

In 3-5 years, it is my hope that I will be a sought-after speaker in churches so everybody in the church can experience the abundant life that Jesus came for us to have.

What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who hustles?

A Pretty Woman Who hustles has defined what her good is and goes hard after it. God created us to be, do, and have good. He leaves it up to us to decide what that good looks like. And once we define our good, a Pretty Woman knows it is already hers, but she has to work for it.
