Women’s History Month Feature – Chantal Jarrett

For Women’s History Month I will be sharing the stories that define and provide examples of women empowerment, uplifting stories of personal triumph and businesses that are inspiring and are making a difference for women. Women’s History Month is a declared month each year that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society.

I want to introduce you to Chantal Jarrett.

Chantal (Channy J) Jarrett has mastered the infusion of passion and authentic Caribbean influence. Born and raised in Clarendon, Jamaica, Channy J Utilized cooking as a creative outlet to outwardly express love and comfort while sharing her culture with others. While enrolled in the culinary program at Oakland Community College in Michigan, Channy launched her company Channyjs Catering which focused on baked goods, meal preps and catering services.

Here is HERstory:

I’m a culinary student and entrepreneur Over time, the unyielding desire to incorporate health and culinary education developed into the expansion of the Channyjs brand. By adding additional products and services such as sea-moss goods, seasonings, recipe & ebooks, cooking classes and kitchen items, Channy J shares her purpose and feeds the souls of many.

Her business is Channy J’s Catering and Private Chef Service.

What does women empowerment mean to you?

Women Empowerment means support and networking. During these times it’s necessary to empower women especially in the culinary world. In a male dominated industry the voice of Black women need to be uplifted.

What advice or words of inspiration would you like to share with someone?

KEEP GOING ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

What do you want your legacy to be?

My legacy will be providing an experience of fine dining around the world. Making resources available for families teaching them how to cook and make meals to create traditions and memories they can pass on to generation to generation.

What kind of impact do you want to have on those around you?

I’ll like to influence families to eating healthy and make the luxury of having a private chef accessible for everyone.

She has authored a collection of e-books available including cooking books, recipes and dieting etc.

What does self care mean to you?

Self care means enjoying my favorite dessert and traveling. Cooking my favorite meals brings me peace I cook from the heart.

What are you most excited or passionate about? (In both business and life or both)

My slogan is Where passion meets plates. My life and my business revolves around food. I make people’s most memorable moments special though cooking and that makes me truly happy. Cooking from my soul is therapeutic.

What’s next for you in your business/brand? What can readers look forward to from you?

I’m currently in the process of rebranding my business and working on my cook book. Readers can look forward to my new cookbook summer 2021.
