Outside of Music and Entrepreneurship, Who is Butta B Rocka in five words?

I am a mother and wife! I am a go-getter, I am creative, I am persistent and, fearless

Take us back to the moment you first fell in love with music, can you share that experience?

I remember it like it was yesterday; I was four years old. Diana Ross was playing on the TV at my great grandmothers’ house. I ran into my room and grabbed my bowie and a wooden spoon from the kitchen. I went back into the living and sang to the top of my lungs at the TV! I remember seeing the crowd cheering, singing along, and some even crying, all the while Diana Ross commanded the stage with her presence. She had such elegance and grace- It was during that moment I knew I wanted to sing and touch lives like her.

Who would you tribute your success to?

I tribute my success to my mom. My mom has been my rock; she’s such a strong black educated woman! At a young age, I formed a singing group. My mom became my manager and poured into my career from artist development, putting me in vocal lessons and dance classes, hiring the best producers, and securing writeups and shows. The biggest lesson she taught me was to learn the business of the music business. From contracts to split sheets, handling my business came first.

You recently released a Fresh New Song “Times Stands Still” can you share the message behind this single?

So many people have suffered a broken marriage or relationship and have had thoughts of never finding someone to love again. Then out of nowhere, they are blessed with another chance at happiness. That was my story after so many years of being closed off from getting married again. Terrance came into my life and swept me off my feet. He showed me it was safe to love again.

Time Stands Still is about 2nd chances, finding love, and promoting healthy relationships.

I wrote and dedicate Time Stands Still to my Husband -Terrance Hutchinson.

When writing and creating this single, how would you describe the creative process?

The creative process for this song took me longer than usual to write.

My producer came over to my studio, and we formed the vibe for the track. I had to sit with the song for a while, having it on repeat until I was able to interpret via my lyrics and melodies what the track was saying to me.

For this song- I came up with the concept first and built the lyrics around my ideas.

You have sung on many stages and platforms, what has been your greatest takeaway?

I have played on some prestigious stages. Including; at the presidential inauguration, before multiple royal families, before the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, at the City Gala with Les Brown, Mario Lopez, Randy Jackson, and Kevin Harrington, At the LA 2 with Alyssa Milano, Jack Black, Sheila E, Al Mclean and came on right after Dionne Warwick. I also performed at the BET Hip Hop Awards and the KY Derby. Last, I have performed on multiple International Cruise Lines from the US, UK, Germany, Holland, Japan, Canada, Portugal, Caribbean Islands, Chile, Puerto Rico, Antigua, and throughout Africa. Each experience holds a special place in my heart. I have learned so much about different cultures, lifestyles, and ethnics. My takeaway is God will make room and open doors for your talents.

You have a new feature film releasing soon, can you tell us about “Finding The Perfect Guy”?

Finding the Perfect Guy is a romantic comedy about a woman who gets divorced after 15 years of marriage. With the help of her friends, Angel is picking up the pieces- she finds it challenging to navigate in this new dating era. This film is my debut as an Executive Film Producer, Director, and Screenwriter. I am super excited for everyone to see it! I am in the process of getting distribution for my project and have several meetings set up with major networks.

What message do you hope women takeaway from this movie?

Nobody said it would be easy starting over again and picking up the pieces, but if you get back out there, you can find the perfect guy. Every woman will be able to relate to at least one of the male characters introduced, the film has a lot of twist and turns!
