For the Month of April we are sharing stories of hope and inspiration for National Month of Hope. Sometimes hope is the deciding factor on if we will continue our journey or stop right in our tracks. As we share the stories of these amazing individuals we hope that you are filled with hope and are inspired to keep on your path of greatness.

Rene Mondy, LPC, is a privately practicing therapist in Atlanta, GA. She specializes in individual and group after-breakup recovery therapy. She is passionate about helping people find the strength, direction, and healing to navigate and overcome their difficult situations. Rene has over 10 years of experience working in mental health. Rene brings her passion for the love of learning and personal growth to the people she works with. From her own divorce years ago, she learned first-hand that not all relationships can be saved or should continue. And she knows first-hand the multitude of emotions one can go through when facing something so life-changing. With her extensive experience providing women with individual and group therapy, she is particularly passionate about walking with women through all the stages of a breakup, including deciding if that is the right next step, going through the process of separation, and creating a new successful beginning. She uses her extensive experience as a therapist to help you navigate relationship transitions. Breakups can feel isolating, scary, and overwhelming. You don’t have to manage all of the emotions alone.
What Inspired your start in entrepreneurship?
Like so many other entrepreneurs who’ve experienced hardship, I’ve personally used the lessons from my divorce to stay focused on the fresh and the new. This philosophy has fueled my passion for helping other women going through something similar.
I started a divorce support group for women that met in various locations in Atlanta months after my divorce was finalized and have personally seen women accomplish tremendous growth and change in their lives post-breakup.
Since the pandemic, in-person groups became less and less of a possibility and a prompt to deliver a little love via mail became a reality and Dear John The Box was born!
What obstacles have you had to overcome to get where you are today?
From my own divorce experience and from 10 years of working with women who’ve experienced a difficult breakup, I personally believe that the most common obstacle for women after heartache is the urge to focus on their losses and not feel worthy of a breakthrough or opportunity.
I know first-hand the many emotions one can go through when facing situations that are so life-changing. I started over from scratch after my divorce.
My father who became more of a mentor during my breakup would ask me what happens to air when blown into our hands. His answer was simple. “We can’t hold on to it.” This always helped me shift my attention from what was lost to opportunities ahead. We exhale air that has served its purpose. Like loss, I can feel it, I can appreciate it, then let it go.
Much of the gift boxes, products and services that Dear John The Box offers to help women cope with heartache are inspired by this.
What message of hope do you have for upcoming entrepreneurs?
Your work is not done. Your destiny and future are perfectly aligned. Remember when the moves you’ve made thus far to change the world were once a dream step? You’ve accomplished them! Congratulations! I see you. I get your vibes and need your inspiration!
Keep going! The world is waiting.
What are your top 3 go-to songs for motivation to keep going after your goals?
Help Me Believe – Kirk Franklin
The Broken Road – Rascal Flatts
What is your definition of a pretty woman who hustles?
One that can define what she believes and what put those beliefs there.
One that consistently examines how those beliefs are impacting their life.
One that makes shifts and changes needed to inspire themselves and positively transform the lives of others.
