B. Simone is currently trending on the internet because of her video in which she spoke about manifesting love and seeking an equally yoked partner. In trying to portray this uplifting message, the media took to a frenzy and began chastising her for being hypocritical and talking down on black women. In my very humble opinion, I don’t believe those were her intentions. However, due to the fact that she has had some issues previously with plagiarism and saying controversial statements in the media, her image in the public eye has been demolished. I personally believe it’s not the message people dislike, but it’s the messenger.
Hear me out, I don’t believe women need to be, or do anything they do not willingly want to do. I also don’t believe anyone should change for the sole purpose of marriage or commitment. Change and growth should be a personal choice one makes for their own happiness and well-being, and not because you think you will gain the perfect match. I also strongly believe that it is important to have standards, and to be unapologetic about being firm in what you desire. With that being said, you cannot demand from others what you cannot give to yourself, men and women alike.
Bottom line is, B. Simone isn’t the only person out here trying to ‘manifest’ their perfect partner. Through the journey of healing and growth, you realize you get what you put out in this world, and you attract what you are. The people you allow into your personal spaces, speak volumes as to who you are as a person. Know that saying “birds of a feather flock together?” It is a very true statement. You may not agree on everything B. Simone was saying, but you’ve got to respect where she’s coming from. Dare I say it? I don’t believe she was wrong.
Overall take away I got from her message was, don’t settle for less than what you deserve and be the partner you wish to have. You can dislike the messenger, but dont hate on the message. Be mindful of the energy you put out into the world, and the standards you set for yourself. You become unstoppable when you know who you are, and what you have to offer.
