What does women empowerment mean to you?

Women empowerment means to be an unapologetic, strong & beautiful woman to yourself and everyone you meet. It is so beautiful to see others win and to cheer them on but don’t forget about yourself in the process. I always meet women in my chair to apologize for ” Bad Skin” and I always say ” No, YOU are perfectly made in GOD’s vision. I love your skin”. Let’s start building ourselves up as much as we build each other up!

What advice or words of inspiration would you like to share with someone?

The best advice I can give to someone is that it is okay not to be okay. It’s okay to be imperfect and be sad. These are all feelings that are healthy for us when things get hard. Remember that once you get through those tough times that you can push yourself to better times. Life is short and lets live happily! You are so much stronger than you think!

What do you want your legacy to be?

I want my legacy to be that I made someone better and stronger through makeup. I have done makeup for cancer patients and women living with special needs countless times in my career. The one thing they always said after getting their makeup done is that they felt like a better version of themselves. It’s more than makeup its self love. That’s something I want people to remember my brand by.

What inspires you?

The main thing that inspires me is watching others living out their dreams. I see success stories of someone hitting a milestone or getting their big break and It pushes me to work harder. It really does show me that no dream is too small and that anything is possible.

What kind of impact do you want to have on those around you?

I want to know that I impacted others with my love of beauty and heart full of empathy. I live each day to help my friends and family to push to their full potential. I want to be remembered as someone who made people feel beautiful through makeup and love.

What does self care mean to you?

Self care to me means to REST. This is something I battled with my entire life because I felt like if I didn’t work non stop I was not productive. Read a book, light a candle, take a bubble bath. Do whatever you need to do to give yourself the best self care.

What obstacles have you overcome or hurdles did you personally face and how did you overcome them?

I suffer from severe anxiety and I used to always self sabotage opportunities that came my way. I have also suffered from Imposter Syndrome and I didn’t believe I deserved all the blessings that were coming to me. Though the help of friends and my faith I pushed through those fears and owned my truth. I found ways to control my anxiety by listening to music and effective breathing exercises. I am still working on myself daily but I know that I am deserving of all things great.

When did you realize entrepreneurship was right for you?

I realized entrepreneurship was right for me at a very young age. I was always a leader and I always wanted to start a business even before I became a professional makeup artist. My father was the driving force throughout this journey because he always taught me that I can do anything and I didnt have to depend on anyone to make it happen. I loved people and I was great at building genuine connections. I always wanted more for myself than just a 9-5 career.

Why did you choose entrepreneurship?

I started off working at a major makeup retail store for the first half of my professional life. I saw how clients wanted to hire me outside of my full time job and I grew at a rapid pace. Working in a management position for that job taught me how to run one effectively so I knew this was the right decision when I left. It was a life changing moment for me and I never looked back!

What would you say is your most driving motivation to keep doing what you to do?

The most driving motivation to keep doing what I do is my family. I want to be able to make the best life for them and thank them for the beautiful life they gave me. My parents sacrificed everything to help me become the woman I am today. I want to continue to make them proud.

What are you most excited or passionate about? (In both business and life or both)

I am passionate about giving back to my community and to teach others how to do makeup through my years of experience in this industry. I am also passionate about making my brand grow to unmeasurable heights.

What are the goals you most want to accomplish in your business and personally?

The goals I most want to accomplish is to open my own makeup school and to become the top go – to GLOBAL Beauty Expert in my field. A personal goal of mine is to be married and have children. I know that I would be an amazing mother!

Did you have any key mentors or people who deeply influenced who you are, what you believe in and what you’re committed to in your work and life? Tell me about them.

Two mentors who deeply influenced who I am are Emmy Award Winning Makeup Artist Eve Pearl and my grandmother Nydia Figueroa SR. Eve pearl was an author of the very first makeup book I purchased. I went on to later work for her and she taught me so much personally and professionally. My grandmother was my biggest cheerleader and the strongest woman I knew. She always supported my dreams and was such a light in my life. I aspire to be just a portion of the amazing woman she was.

Did you have any life-changing experiences that put you on the path that led you to be doing what you’re doing today? Tell me about them.

My big break came when I was 19 years old and I did my first major production which was the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. I went on to do 10 more seasons of the show and that really kick started my career in so many ways. Working as the lead beauty director for Fashion GXD magazine also changed my life because I am able to work with incredible talent. I was also able to work side by side with my friend, Pilar Scratch who is a celebrity stylist and EIC of the magazine. She has given me countless opportunities and still believes in me daily.
