The KarJenner Sibling is the New Leader of the Family

From the beginning, Kim Kardashian was the leader of the KarJenner family. It was her fame that launched the Kardashian and Jenner family’s reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” on the E! channel. All eyes were on Kim, with her sisters, brother, mom and step dad playing minor roles on the show. Last year the tables turned. Kim’s youngest sister (and youngest sibling of the KarJenner family) became the family’s first billionaire. Kylie bumped Kim off her throne and the family dynamic has changed quite a bit.

The television show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” made millionaires out of the six Kardashian and Jenner siblings. The blended family of Kris Kardashian, Bruce Jenner and their children (hers and theirs) shared their lives on the E! Network for 20 seasons (the show will end in 2021). Due to the popularity of their reality show the siblings started many businesses and had many opportunities to appear in other television shows, television commercials, films and modeling jobs.

The Kardashian name came to prominence during the OJ Simpson murder trial in the 1990s. Robert Kardashian was one of the attorneys on the Simpson “Dream Team” for this trial. After the trial the family’s profile was raised by Kim. Wealthy and famous clients hired her to organize their closets. Kim was a friend of socialite Paris Hilton. This friends were seen together at parties and red carpet events, putting the Kardashian name on the lips of more people. Kim raised the profile of the Kardashian name to scandalous heights when a sex tape she made with singer Ray J was released to the public for sale.

The Jenner name was made famous by Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner). He was a gold medalist, a television personality and motivational speaker.

Kris Jenner was interested in starting a reality show with her family. Ryan Seacrest, who had just started a production company, thought the idea of a KarJenner show would be a big hit. Ryan loved the wacky MTV reality show “The Osbournes.” He thought “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” would also attract a huge audience due to the blended family’s outrageous, unfiltered actions and words.

Th e family’s matriarch Kris Jenner became Kim’s “Momager” (a term she had trademarked) and booked many jobs for her admittedly favorite daughter. Her older sister Kourtney Kardashian and younger sister Khloe Kardashian ran the three sisters’ clothing store Dash. Right away we see the Kourtney and Khloe resent Kim. The Kardashian sisters confront Kris about her favoritism. Kris’ response is that Kim’s success will open the door for the other KarJenner kids. The push back saying Kim is a partner in the store and is never there to help. At the time of the premier of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” younger brother Rob Kardashian is studying business at USC and the Jenner girls (Kendall and Kylie) are tweens and in school every day.

Over the course of the show we see the KarJenner sisters open more stores and open businesses, in addition to modeling jobs and parts on other television shows and movies. Rob does not get his mom’s support and struggles to open her own businesses.

In 2018 attention shifted squarely on Kylie. She launched her Kylie Lip Kit and she completely disrupted the beauty industry. The lip kit, consisting of a lipstick and matching lip liner, sold out immediately. The products that the other sisters and her brother launched dwarfed in sales compared to Kylie’s cosmetic line. Kylie expanded her business beyond just lip kits. She now has a line of cosmetics and skin care products. Kylie became the first billionaire in the KarJenner family. She even beat out her brother in law Kanye West in the race for the richest member of the family. Kylie sold Kylie Cosmetics to Coty and was certified a billionaire by Fortune Magazine.

As a result of Kylie’s success in the beauty industry Kim copied her youngest sister and launched her own make up line. Her beauty business is called KKW Cosmetics. It also sold very well. While Kim continued to launch products her husband also became a billionaire. Kim is the third person in the blended family to hit this financial status.

The competition in the family didn’t stop with Kim and her sisters. In 2021 “Momager” Kris Jenner announced she too would be launching a beauty line. Kris has always been aggressive when it comes to making money for herself and her children. Their money is her money, being that she earns 10% of the women’s earnings for being their manager.

Who will be next to copy Kylie and launch a cosmetics brand? Perhaps it will be Kendall. She is an international supermodel and has a clothing line with Kylie. If you are Keeping Up with the Kardashians you will have to follow them on Hulu next next year and check their social media.
