From Fitness Enthusiast to Christian Mentor: Kaela’s Journey of Faith and Transformation

Meet Kaela: She is often recognized as the former Personal Trainer and fitness enthusiast who transformed into a Christian Mentor & Life Coach – and the Best Auntie Ever! Just like many other Believers, Kaela’s journey to her current place has been quite the ride.

As a former elite athlete, National Champion, and recent Hall of Fame inductee, it was the earlier years of her life that fostered the determination and discipline required to push, work diligently, and consistently strive for growth in all aspects of life.

After a career in professional sports, founding companies, and contributing to the realization of numerous others’ dreams, Kaela eventually pursued a second degree from Arizona Christian University, delving into all things Bible.

Guided by God’s leading, Kaela can now discern the path. All the encounters, skills, and learning experiences have directed her precisely where He intended her to be in this season. She serves as a Christian Mentor & Life Coach. She hosts the His Word My Walk podcast, where she shares weekly insights from her own life that demonstrate the connection between God’s Word and her everyday journey. She is a teacher, speaker, the creator of Bible Journaling Bootcamp, and the author of the Through Proverbs with Purpose devotional!

Her profound aspiration is to assist others in their personal relationship with God. She carries a zeal to uplift and encourage, to impart teachings and speak divine truths—God’s truths—into each and every circumstance.

What Motivated her to start her own business?

Starting her own business wasn’t primarily driven by motivation, but rather prompted and confirmed by the Holy Spirit. Through years as an elite athlete and professional sports worker, she’s always embodied discipline and determination as strong character traits. She realizes she’s always been a coach, an encourager, an uplifter, always pushing and helping others see and achieve their dreams.

Sometimes, her desire to see others succeed overshadowed her own dreams and even what she believed God was calling her to do. Eventually, she recognized that by starting her own business and following God’s lead and guidance, she could continue helping others, lifting them up, and simultaneously pursuing her own dreams and callings.

Tell us about the process of starting her brand; what did the beginning stages entail for her?

Kaelaprays is her second brand. Until about a year and a half ago, she was known as KaelaFit. Every social media account, email, website, bank account, speaking engagement, and devotional book bore that name. She was known as the Christian fitness girl and she embraced it.

However, while leading group programs online, she found greater joy when her clients grew in their relationship with God than when they achieved health goals. So, once again, she followed the Lord and underwent a complete shift. She shut down every account, every email, everything attached to KaelaFit, and transitioned to KaelaPrays. Now, as a full-time Christian Mentor and Life Coach, she considers herself to be back in the beginning stages.

It’s not easy. It’s not for the faint-hearted. But her confidence and commitment come from knowing God has called and qualified her for this. She continues to learn, to grow, and above all, to communicate with Him and seek His confirmation.

Transitioning from the fitness industry, though always rooted in Christ, was more familiar and even endorsed by those around her. However, transitioning to solely teaching others about Jesus Christ, about cultivating a deeper relationship with Him, and guiding them – things she’s always done without charge – raised the question of whether this could be a sustainable “business.”

She faced those questions and she had to earnestly consult with God, a practice she continues. He has the plans. All she had to do was say yes and start walking.

Tell us about her brand, Kaela Prays?

Her brand is herself. She is Kaela. She prays. Armed with a second degree in all things Bible, she leverages her experience, education, and expertise to serve others wholeheartedly.

As a Christian Mentor and Life Coach, she aids others, primarily women, in nurturing their relationship with God for experiencing His presence anew each day. Her foremost desire is to help others realize the genuine depth of this relationship and demonstrate how to live out His truth in their own lives.

Through programs she’s developed like Bible Time Accelerator and Bible Journaling Bootcamp, she has empowered more than a hundred others to cultivate consistency in their time with the Lord, gain a deeper understanding of the Bible, interpret scriptures accurately, and pray effectively through His Word.

Moreover, she’s also delivered these programs in person at ministry schools and devised devotions for youth programs.

No matter where God directs her, she’s determined to follow. While it’s not always comfortable, she’s certain that once she commits, He will illuminate the path and provide the revelation and understanding she needs to serve others.

One of the most rewarding aspects of her business is her role as the host of the His Word My Walk podcast, where she releases weekly 20-minute episodes that present the connection between God’s Word and her daily journey in a lively, practical, and memorable way. Reaching thousands through these messages and hearing testimonies serve as the affirmation she cherishes to keep her moving forward.

What role does her faith play in her business?

Her relationship with God serves as the bedrock of her business. He is her guide. His Word is a lamp illuminating her path, in every circumstance. God isn’t her CEO; He is her Lord. God isn’t her business partner; He is her Lord.

God’s lordship over her life forms the backdrop for everything she produces.

This isn’t always as straightforward as it may seem. There are moments of doubt even amidst unwavering faith. There are instances of waiting, even with steadfast faith. There are moments of learning and growth, and occasionally these emerge from what initially appears to be failure or pain.

How does she navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship while maintaining her faith?

For her, it’s not a matter of balance. Faith and entrepreneurship are not opposing forces requiring equilibrium. Her faith in God, her relationship with Him, forms the foundation of everything she does, including entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship takes its place atop this solid foundation. Faith is the unwavering and steady support, never wavering, and she fervently hopes to never misconstrue this.

Allow her to share this: she seeks guidance from the Holy Spirit daily to assess herself, and a significant lesson she learned during an online business program last year was this: Will she place more trust in God and His guidance than in the advice of those she’s paying to instruct her in her business?

Above all, she’s had to bolster her faith in the context of entrepreneurship. This is her business. It provides for her financially. However, the reality often doesn’t align with her expectations or what others have told her when she initially said yes. Yet, at the beginning and end of each day, her aim is to preserve an unwavering faith in God.

What stands out as her most significant lesson along her faith journey?

Her most crucial lesson, which she’s profoundly grateful to have learned, centers around the fact that this isn’t about her! Her “yes” to God isn’t about her. They frequently pray for God to use them. They request to be instruments in His mighty plan, yet often they seek the rewards or desire to witness them firsthand. She’s discovered that her “yes” has nothing to do with herself.

God reaches, blesses, touches, serves, provides, and even communicates through people. She’s simply His vessel. God has blessed her. How? Through someone else’s “yes” at some point! Regardless of whether it seems small or significant, say “yes” to God. After all, it’s not about you.

How does she retain focus during the tumultuous moments of entrepreneurship?

It’s certainly not effortless, and sometimes her focus does waver. Fatigue creeps in; doubts arise. At times, she simply needs a pause. Here’s the truth: Thanks to her years as an athlete and fitness professional, she’s become adept at discipline and routines, at forging habits. Spending time with God every morning, engaging with His Word and reading the Bible, is a habit she meticulously cultivated over time. It’s a non-negotiable in her day, much like making her bed to set a positive tone. Even while traveling, she makes her bed before sitting down with God and His Word.

So, even when her focus falters amid entrepreneurial challenges, she still spends time with God, converses with Him. In the most unexpected ways or through scripture, He has an uncanny knack for restoring her focus and reinvigorating her.

What does the future hold for her brand? What are her aspirations for the next 3-5 years?

While she focuses on the present day, she certainly has goals. She envisions herself speaking and instructing at events, investing in others. She foresees hosting retreats for women to encounter the Lord in a fresh, personal manner. She imagines being continually astounded by the insights God imparts to her and through her. She anticipates surmounting new challenges, reassured that God accompanies her through every smooth path and rocky road.

What advice does she offer to fellow faith-based entrepreneurs?

Her advice is clear: Live it. Foster a genuine relationship with God and keep nurturing it. Not for the sake of enhancing your business, but to relish the fullness of His glory and the abundance He offers you in this earthly life. Don’t merely identify as a faith-based entrepreneur to impress others; live it to enrich your life and serve as a conduit of blessings to others through you. Recognize that your actions serve as an example. Lastly, don’t hesitate to seek assistance when needed. It’s not unusual to seek guidance in business areas where you lack expertise or aspire to grow. Similarly, seek guidance to enhance your faith. Remember, we coexist with this complex world; let’s rise as Believers, uplift each other, and glorify God together.

Pretty, Married and Saved: Meet Wife Coach Keisha Bass

Keisha Bass is a Wife/Marriage Coach, Motivational Speaker, Author, Healthy Marriage Advocate, and Founder of “Her Dope Marriage.” HDM is a faith-centered coaching and consulting brand led by Keisha Bass, who has been married for over 32 years. While Keisha has always had a strong passion for coaching women to be the best wives they can be, it was within the last year that she decided to take the leap and leave her six-figure career to follow her heart, her passion, and the direction of God. In addition to being a Wife Coach, she also coaches women on being whole within themselves so that they show up as the best versions of themselves in all areas of their lives, including their marriages.

Keisha and her husband of over three decades just recently hosted their first annual LiftUs Marriage Conference in Charlotte, NC, an extension of the LiftHer and LiftHim conferences that she and her husband, Chris Bss, do annually for women and men in separate groups. Keisha has a true passion for helping women to become the best that they can be and to be Godly wives to their husbands. She is transparent in her teachings and gives of herself openly and with love in her coaching.

In the past year, Keisha’s following has grown by nearly 100,000 on Instagram to now more than 130k, and her tribe of Facebook is faithful to her as well. She speaks with great passion and conviction and has a gift for helping women to excel in their partnerships with their husbands and, very importantly, within themselves.

What Motivated you to start your own business?

My passion for seeing healthy marriages was the driving factor behind starting Her Dope Marriage. This God-centered passion aligned with my journey. For eleven years, my husband and I cycled in our marriage. We didn’t know how to be a husband or wife. God had to teach us how to be the spouse He desired us to be. I recall the Saturday morning when God woke me up and told me that He would use my voice to bless His daughters through my story. My surrender to God meant trusting God’s vision for Her Dope Marriage and God’s provision for moving forward into entrepreneurship. God allowed my story, the transparency of my truth, to be part of the reason behind the motivation for starting Her Dope Marriage. I wanted women to know that they are not alone, even as a Christian wife, you are not alone. God has made a way of escape through testimonies of others that look like you.

Tell us about the process of starting your brand; what did the beginning stages entail for you?

The beginning stages of starting my business aligned with my story and faith as I honored God’s guidance. That’s all I had was my faith. I started with uncertainty. But I had to trust God’s timing. Honestly, I didn’t think I was ready. How would God use my story to change the lives of women? Why did He want to use me? Questions that made me draw closer to God for answers. I didn’t know where to start or what it would look like, but I knew who called me. It took me a few days to develop the name for my business. I prayed, then consulted with a trademark attorney. My business name needed meaning, purpose, and impact. My business had to be infused with kingdom principles aligned with my faith. I started developing a plan and relied on God’s discernment in every decision. Faith became the foundation of my yes.

Tell us about your brand, “Her Dope Marriage”?

Her Dope Marriage is a business that provides women of faith the tools and strategies necessary to empower them during the different seasons of marriage confidently. HER in Her Dope Marriage stands for healed, empowered, and restored. Becoming HER is why we provide a continuum of coaching programs to address women’s emotional challenges in marriage. Doing so builds healthier and stronger marriages by forging strong ties between husbands and wives. When wives can show up as the wife God designed her to be, her influence will impact the temperature in her home. 1 Peter 3:1-2 states, husbands, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives. We need to show up even when our husbands don’t. Our actions will cause our husbands to change. I say it all the time, changed behavior changes behavior. When we can do this successfully, we improve the vitality of the family.

What role does your faith play in your business?

Faith played a significant role in starting my business. My passion for seeing healthy, thriving marriages results from my faith in God and what He has done in my own marriage. Even when I quit my six-figure job of almost 20 years, my faith and trust in God gave me the confidence to leave. He gave me the vision, so I knew He would make provision. As I started building my coaching programs, God gave me the blueprint. He allowed me to experience first-hand his transformation power when He transformed my marriage. The impact God has made on my marriage gives those connected to Her Dope Marriage the strength to walk in resilience during challenging times. If God did it for me, He could do it for them. And even when entrepreneurship gets challenging, my faith sustains me, motivating me to press through. Those challenges become opportunities for God to fulfill His promise for Her Dope Marriage. It’s not about me; it’s about the Kingdom.

How do you balance entrepreneurship and faith?

My faith is an integral part of my business. I start my day off with intimate time with the Father. This keeps me centered and focused. My ears are always open to His voice for instructions. This is a must and has been incorporated into my daily routine since day one of my business. I am an entrepreneur because of God’s guidance so my reverence to Him must be first. I cannot do it without Him. From creating programs to speaking engagements, I seek Him for advice in everything I do. Faith and entrepreneurship are non-negotiable. They go hand and hand.

What has been your biggest lesson thus far in your faith walk?

That’s a good question. The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is to remain faithful even when it looks like God isn’t working. The delay doesn’t mean denied. God is stretching my faith in this season. He’s requiring more from me because of where He’s taking me. He’s putting me in uncomfortable situations to ensure my spiritual muscles continue to grow. Luke 18:27 says what seems impossible to man is possible to God. Before quitting my job, I remember God gave my husband and me instructions to pay down debt. It was in the middle of the pandemic, and we couldn’t figure out why God instructed us to pay down debt, but we did it. We went on a financial fast and got very aggressive about paying down off debt. We paid off 110K in 18 months. About three or four months later, God told me to leave my job. I didn’t listen to His instructions initially. I eventually left my job four months after His initial instructions. The lesson here is God already had a plan set. He was just looking for our obedience. Sometimes He won’t give you the complete plan, but you must trust Him.

How do you remain focused during the difficult moments of entrepreneurship?

When I started this journey, I was part-time, so it was easy because I had a full-time job, but after I left, I can remember crying in my office, thinking I made a huge mistake. It was an adjustment. My focus went from corporate to Her Dope Marriage only. The pace, the income, and the routine all had changed, and I had to adjust to it. Most days, I’m good. As stated earlier, I start my day in prayer, keeping me grounded. I surround myself with a positive community, and I remember my why. My why is more significant than my emotions. My why is seeing God’s vision manifest for His daughters. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, but God comes to give life more abundantly. Standing on God’s word and remembering what He told me motivates me and gets me back on track. God never said it would be easy. He did say to trust Him. Trusting Him helps me stay encouraged on this business journey.

What is next for you? Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?

Over the next 3-5 years, I would like to see Her Dope Marriage operating in other states and countries via HDM Ambassadors. I would love to see Her Dope Marriage partnering and collaborating with organizations passionate about healthy marriages and restored families. I also have a women’s empowerment conference, LiftHer, coming this year. This will be my second year, and I would love to see the conference go nationwide.

What advice would you give to other faith-based entrepreneurs?

The advice that I would give to other faith-based entrepreneurs is to remember your why. Why did you say yes to this business? Because there will be days when you feel weary, and you must remember Galatians 6:9, do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up- your why, your yes, is about those who need what you offer. They need you. God created you with this gift for those that know your voice. Be encouraged and find a community that will encourage you with language to be steadfast, inspired, and focused.

She’s Pretty and Saved: Meet Arica Pretress Quinn

Born in Inkster, Michigan, and raised in Colorado, Arica Pretress Quinn is a modelpreneur, published author, certified Transformation Coach, and National Pageant Queen, earning titles such as Ms. All World Beauties Elite US 2021.

Like too many youngsters, Arica experienced sexual abuse as a child, teen, and young adult. She channeled the strength she gained from her painful past into the worlds of modeling and pageantry, finally feeling beautiful, worthy, strong, and capable.

Determined to help others heal as she had, Arica even became a Certified Transformational Life Coach, International Certified Specialist in Anger Management, and an ordained minister, crafting the motto “You can not change what you will tolerate, but you can tolerate the changes you choose to make.” She prepared the quote, “The beauty is not that the caterpillar turns into the butterfly. The beauty is that the butterfly can never go back to being the caterpillar. “

And this beauty, known as the Lady of Equity model, has rocked the runways of numerous top designers at events such as Africa Fashion Show Denver, Beauty is Everywhere, BeautifulYou_FashionTour, Black Pearl Entertainment, Denver Unique Week of Fashion, International Fashion Show of Denver, Life of Fashion Fashion Show, Taste of Color Fashion Show, and even the world-famous New York Fashion Week!

Arica is also very popular with the press, gracing the pages of Talk Pageants Magazine, Prestige Models Magazine, Katana Magazine, Lipstik Magazine, Couture La Rouge Magazine, and Flux Magazine.
And Arica fully understands the power of the written word to make even more of an impact!

This dynamic diva is the proud author of fourteen books, all aimed toward helping others overcome their past trauma, such as Breaking The Silence After Trauma: 7 Keys To Regaining Your Voice (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GV7F882), The Transformational Planner: Transforming My Life One Page At A Time (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08RB1D7WF), and most recently, FEAR FACTOR: How To Create Habits to Conquer Your Fear (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09K1RXFQX), the first in an 8-part series on transforming the trauma of sexual abuse into power.

We had the pleasure of sitting down with Arica to discuss faith and business and what is next for her ministry.

What motivated you to start your own business?
I went through a transformational journey of self-discovery and finding my voice after overcoming and understanding the trauma I had lived with for over 40 years as a sexual abuse survivor. It was through becoming an author and model and walking into pageantry that I found myself. I wanted to create a way to merge all three of these areas to reach other women and coach them, empower them, and set them on their journey of transformation. So after trying to figure out how to accomplish this, I went through the Dream Jumpstart Program with the Dream Queen Erial Ramsey in January of 2023, and in February 2023, Prestige Agency was born.

Tell us about starting your brand; what did the beginning stages entail for you?
My brand, now a part of my business, is called Lady of Equity. This came about when I first experienced my first time as a new, wet, behind-the-ears model at New York Fashion Week in September 2021. I was asked by a photographer who I was, and, in the middle of me talking about myself, he stopped me and said, “Miss, you are not just a plus-size model; there is so much more to you than your size. You are a Lady of Equity.” When I asked him what he meant, he said, “By definition, you are a woman of superior social position, especially one of noble birth. You are God’s child, a royal priesthood. And you are valuable and have worth that will ignite others to reach their potential.” This is how and why my brand was created.

Tell us about your books; what message remains valid throughout all fourteen books?
As an author, I write in 2 spaces; Urban Romance and Self Help. The underlying message in my writings is that as individuals, especially women, we are more than the trauma and challenges we face. We don’t have to live in the false world that we are only as good as where we are. We are powerful, strong, resilient, and necessary. So get up, do the work to find yourself, and transform.

What role does your faith play in your business?
I would not even be where I am right now without God. He gave the vision and provided the provisions for everything aligned with this business. Even when it seems things are not flourishing in my sight, when I look through His eyes, I see the process and can keep pushing forward. I pray over this business and everyone who will come into contact with me through Prestige Agency that our connection and interaction will cause us both to grow, transform and be better because of our interaction.

How do you balance entrepreneurship and Faith?
It is not a balance but a permanency that God is at the helm of. Faith without works is dead, and without Faith, it is impossible to please God. So, it’s simple; without my Faith in God, there would be no Prestige Agency, Lady of Equity, or any other entrepreneurial venture I may embark upon.

What has been your biggest lesson thus far in your faith walk?
Learning to navigate my life without my brother, who was taken from me by someone else, and my mother, who passed away from a broken heart over the loss of her son, both in 2022. I have had to reposition and realign my faith in God and walk to get through each day.

How do you remain focused during the difficult moments of entrepreneurship?
I have my prayer life and the word of God. I also have an amazing small intimate group of support around me. They help keep me grounded and focused, reminding me of how important my truth is and how much I am needed to impact the lives of others.

What is next for you; where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?
I look forward to completing five book collaboration projects through the Prestige Agency. My new venture as Editor-in-Chief of Sitigirl Magazine Nashville will be a top sought-after publication, and my Caterpillar to Butterfly Transformation Coaching and Queen 2 Queen Coaching programs will have impacted the lives of at least 500 women. With Lady of Equity, I look forward to creating my wig, T-shirt, and cosmetic lines.

What advice would you give to other faith-based entrepreneurs?
God created you with a specific blueprint/design. No one can be you but you. It doesn’t matter that someone may be doing the same business as you because specific people are attached to your purpose that only you can reach. So stop comparing yourself to the other fish in the sea and focus on the power and ability that is in you. Transform and become who you were meant to be in the journey. “The beauty is not that the caterpillar turns into the butterfly; the beauty is that the butterfly can never return to being the caterpillar.”

TIME

As I reflect over this past week, I am reminded about the importance of time. We often say that there is not enough of it in a day. Other times, we lament that it goes by so slowly. All of us at some point either waste a lot of time not taking advantage of the time that we do have. We spend time worrying, arguing, not walking in love, being fearful, hiding on to guilt, bitterness, and resentment. We devote time to mindless television and meaningless social media posts. We spend time majoring in the minor and minoring in the major. We waste time. We want time to stand still. We grow impatient with waiting, we get frustrated when we run out of it. We tend to overthink or overreact; or we make rash decisions. We concentrate a great deal of time doing things we know a waste of time versus sowing that time into something or someone that will benefit from the investment. We never quite master making the best use of our time.

So it is with God. We spend a great deal of time disobeying God. We spend time bargaining and reasoning with God. We spend time running away from God. We spend a great deal of time going through seasons-some of our doing, others by God’s. We spend a lot time complaining to God. We spend little time developing relationship with God. We spend time ignoring His instruction and even more time on a long winding road that ultimately leads us back to the source- remember the Israelites in the desert for 40 years? We take for granted the time God has so graciously given us. We take for granted every time we inhale and exhale. We fail to acknowledge God’s power each morning He wakes us up. We do not even take the time to think about the fact that even when we sneeze and someone says, “God bless you”, God does because you continue breathing.

Psalms 34:1 AMP says, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” We must devote time to worship. We must devote time in prayer and meditation. We must devote time to spending time in His presence. We must devote time to obeying God’s instruction. We must give back to God the life God so graciously gave us. The time God has given us on this earth is on purpose with purpose for purpose. Certain things are intended to happen at appointed times and whether we want to admit it or accept it or not, God controls the time. the Bible instructs is to, “Hear counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, that you may be wise in the time to come.” [Proverbs 19:20 AMP]. We will need everything God provides, permits, and prevents is specifically created for our experience in this life and the relationship we develop with God. We must not be distracted or deterred. We must always be focused on the fact that we are on God’s time and there is much to be done in the places He has given us charge over. Are we going to get it right every time? Absolutely not! But when we have wasted time going our own way, we must make the most of the time we then have as we live for Christ versus ourselves. We must spend that time developing relationship with God and His people sowing, weeding and watering the seeds we have planted and been given charge over.

I pray that as we go through this week, we will take a little time to spend time with God so that He can show us what He wants the week to look like. Mark 13:33 AMP reminds us to, “Be on your guard [constantly alert], and watch [a]and pray; for you do not know when the timewill come.” I pray that we will allow God to redirect us and focus you on the things that are important to Him and to His kingdom. I pray we will no longer waste time trying to explain, excuse or justify. I pray we will allow God to resurrect us, correct us, and position us where He needs us to be at the appointed and anointed time He has on the calendar for the moment where God’s grace and glory collide. I do not know about you, but I do not want to miss another moment with God. I want take full advantage of the time God has ordained for me so that I can spend that time learning, growing and becoming what God wants and needs me to be during my time on this earth.

I’m rooting for you… Coach V

Praise This: A film that resonates with the Soul

Every year thousands of movies are released, and a small percentage are movies that everyone can enjoy. Growing up in a religious household as a Pastor’s Kid (PK) there weren’t many movies on the preapproved list.

This movie is everything we didn’t know we even needed.

If I had to rate this movie on a scale of 1 to 10, “Praise This” hits the mark every time.

Within the first 5 minutes of the movie, I was excited, engaged by the energy of the cast and being able to instantly resonate as a former praise team member.

The movie begins by introducing you to several different praise teams, from all walks of life. While focusing on the Praise team led by Birgundi Baker and the other by Koryn Hawthorne.

As a Christian, being able to watch some of my favorite influencers, actors, and actresses from the circular and Christian world come together with one main goal was priceless.

This film features Chloe Bailey, Druski, Anjelika Washington, Quavo, Tristan Mack Wilds, Birgundi Baker, Crystal Hayslett, Loren Lott, Jekalyn Carr, and Koryn Hawthorne.

The movie also teaches several lessons throughout the film starting with introducing Pastor PG (Tristan Mack Wilds) who looks nothing like your average traditional preacher. His appearance, and walk remind us that we are quick to judge when we aren’t the ones called to judge.

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. – Luke 6:37 NIV

Despite his looks, and outer appearance he quickly reminds us of the calling on his life and that it is by God’s grace that he is in the position he is in. (AMEN)

Another highlight was being able to see one of my favorite Gospel artists Jekalyn Carr and Koryn Hawthorne in a new light introducing the world to acting. Seeing both of them not only share their vocal ability but stage presence as an actress was refreshing.

My takeaway: This movie would be a great addition to any youth church’s movie lineup. Several lessons and takeaways were given throughout the movie as a whole.

Watching Sam (Chloe Bailey) in this role as a young girl who recently loses her mother, which causes a lot of hurt and resentment to those around her has started to act out while trying to pursue a career in music. During this time she has taken a gap year from school, been arrested, sneaked away from home, and more. Her dad decides that enough is enough and she needs a change of scenery. He takes her from the Big City of LA to the big city of ATL, where she stays with her mother’s brother and his family. This is where the one who will change her view on life is introduced as her cousin Jess (Anjelika Washington).

Jess and her family are heavy churchgoers and Jess even has other musical abilities which she shares as a member of her church’s local praise team. The church they attend is every young person’s dream: Edgy, Modern, and laid back. The Pastor is young with experience in the world and willing to meet the members exactly where they are.

You can tell immediately that this church exemplifies the old saying “Come as you are”. If you look at the church scene carefully, you are able to view people from all different walks of life around the building. You quickly notice that there is a place for you.

I believe both cousins are around the same age, Sam is one who wants to be left alone to deal with what life throws at her all alone. It is apparent that she is afraid of losing something or someone else in the process.

Jess is someone who desires the approval and attention of others. You can tell from the minute you meet her that she just wants to make those around her happy. While sam on the hand has hopes to make it in the music industry and she is willing to do anything to achieve this goal, which in the long run can hurt the people around her.

This film provided everything I look for in a film, from comedy to drama to family life values this film provided something for everyone.

Everyone loves a happily ever after, and they understood the assignment, during the film Sam had been closed off from her father because she was upset he brought her to Atlanta. Throughout the entire film, she ignored calls, messages, etc. I loved that in the end the film revisited their dynamic and showed her father attending the last competition and telling her that he is proud of her.

Often times we don’t appreciate our parents when they try to tell us things about the decisions we are making. The film showed the picture of a father trying to raise a daughter the best way he knew how by trying to protect her from herself and the people around her. As hard as it was he was willing to move her across the country, away from him and the world she knew just to give her a solid foundation.

In the long run, the move was exactly what she didn’t know she needed. The home provided a safe space, an environment with stability, and a religious environment that will carry her through life’s struggles.

I believe many people around the world can identify with Sam, I for one was Sam. Mad at those around me who wanted and knew what was best for me but couldn’t see past what I desired for myself. This movie shows exactly what can happen when you let go and allow others to help you, you can discover a gift you never knew you possessed.

“Everybody Gon See” with Gospel Music Artist Talasia

Born and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Talasia is a natural born singer. As a young girl, Talasia accompanied her mother to the studio where she frequently recorded original music. After years of singing in Abundant Life Worship Center’s choir, the “Rejoice” singer was inspired to write her own music, but feared that her music was unsuitable for gospel due to its unconventional lyrical and melodic style. With her gift, Talasia introduces God to nonbelievers and helps fellow Christians strengthen their connection to Him. Talasia performed at the Maranatha Rhema Awards in June. During the award show held at the Plays & Players Theater in Philadelphia, the rising vocalist won Gospel Song of the Year and Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year for “Everybody Gon See.”

We are excited for this opportunity to check in with Talasia and see how life and music has changed since we spoke to her last.

At what moment did you realize you had a gift for music?

When I put out my first song and received the feedback. It was crazy. I was like “y’all really like it!?” Lol, It was the messages received about being people being encouraged to push on through their obstacles that sealed the deal for me. If this can help lift spirits, win souls, and change perspectives… let’s do it!

How would you describe your creative flow when writing music?

It’s situational. If I hear a track first I pay attention to how it makes me feel. Then I figure out what I want to write about. Sometimes I hear the lyrics, melody, drum patterns, and background vocals all in my head and I sing what I hear to my producers. There are other times when it’s a collaborated effort between myself and Quinten Showell (Executive Producer and Co-Writer). I thoroughly enjoy being able to express myself through music. It’s truly fun and beautiful!

How did the creative process shift with your new song “Everybody gon see”?

This was a similar process to the one I listed earlier. I had the inspiration for this song since I’ve been a kid. Because of my experiences, I knew what I wanted to say, how I wanted it to sound. Writing the song so many years ago and actually just putting it out was interesting. You really see my growth as a singer, artist, and personally with my spiritual growth and perspective. Everything about the song truly reflects who I am. lol, It’s my “song baby!” I wrote the whole song in 2 hours. I sang what I had in my head to my producers and they killed the track!

Your new single Everybody gon see, what is the inspiration behind it?

When I was younger, everybody knew I was a church kid. It wasn’t really popular to be a church kid back then.
I found myself in a lot of different debates about why I believe in God. I’ll never forget hearing “You believe in something you can’t even see or have proof of. How dumb is that?” The proof is all around us. The proof is YOU. When I decided to actually do my own music. I always wanted a song that I could make my way, from my perspective, bragging on who I know God to be. I’m so sure of Him.

What message shows up throughout every song you release?

I think every song will have a consistent positive message. They all will be different, real, genuine, and creative in the way it’s served to you, but I truly want you to know that everything is going to be okay. There’s a plan. You can breathe.

What message do you hope women walk away with from your new single?
I hope they become more confident in God, and in themselves. I hope that if they don’t know Him, I spark a thirst in their soul and desire to at least want to start that journey to figuring out who God is and how much He loves us. It’s okay if you are on this journey alone with God. No matter what people say… one day… “Everybody Gon See” period! lol

Can you share the highlight of your journey this year?

So many crazy amazing things have happened this year. My Mind is blown and humbled per usual. I think the highlights of this year are 4 people giving the testimony of being challenged to grow spiritually by our music and from our last concert, that’s everything to me! Also being nominated 4 times for our music from two different award shows. We actually won at the first one and are getting prepared to attend the second one! That’s never happened to me before and I’m so grateful that I get to experience some fruit from our labor of love! It’s a blessing, humbling, and a testament to what can happen when you Trust God, stay focused, and DON’T STOP!

Where do you hope to see your career in the next 3-5 years?

I’m not quite sure exactly where I’ll be. I do know that with God before me I’ll be successful because I won’t give up. We are on a mission to spread God’s love and that mission is FIRST. God has shown His favor over our life so I know that wherever we are, we will be doing what God sends us to do and what an honor it is to serve others!

What is next for Talasia?

So many things are planned for the next few years. There will be no breaks! New music, YouTube content, concerts, and so many surprises it’s all coming! We are just getting started! Excited for the journey ahead!

Fun questions:

Favorite Worship Song:

Jireh – Maverick City

Favorite artist out right now?

BEYONCÉ period! lol

Go to scripture when things are tough.

This isn’t fair because it’s so many. I would have to say (Philippians 4:6-8) it brings my mind back to a place of stability to rationalize what’s going on and what my perspective and heart’s posture should always be towards EVERY situation. “The problem may change but the formula to the solution never will. “

Favorite Scripture verse of all time?

Philippians 4:13….. because I truly CAN! NO LIMITS! NO EXCUSES!

What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?

What makes us pretty has nothing to do with how we look. It’s what’s in our hearts. Being a kind-hearted woman, with an unmatched work ethic will lead you to the road of being a “Pretty Woman who Hustles”! Shine sis!

What motivated you to start your own business?

I honestly didn’t start a business “on purpose.” I was doing what I loved to do, which was to help market people, and as a result, I learned I was good at it and could monetize it. After much prayer and speaking with a business consultant, my business was born.

Tell us about the process of starting your brand; what did the beginning stages entail for you?

The beginning was scary! I had no real clue what I was doing AT ALL. No one knew me or who I was. A lot of trial and error coupled with consistency. I showed up daily to build a brand and following. My personal opinion on getting the paperwork was easy, and legally registering the business is easy. It is the building and setting yourself apart that is the hard part. Small business and marketing is a very competitive market; if you can’t stay relevant and willing to pivot often, you will not make it.

Tell us about Power Influence Radio.

OMG! God gave me PIR to help change the game in internet radio! It is the fastest growing radio station with over 1.5k followers and listeners internationally!!! We have a variety of inspiring music combined with awesome radio personalities to provide an amazing listening experience. We are a little more than a year old, but I have some excellent business partners that support the vision as we grow to higher heights.

What role does your faith play in your business?

Faith is the foundation of my business. You can’t build anything if you don’t believe. You must believe in the vision and yourself, but most importantly, you must believe in God, who gave you the gift and talents. I strongly believe in prayer and submitting my gifts and talents to God for HIS use and benefit of the Kingdom. I won’t make a move without prayer and peace from HIM to move forward in anything.

How do you balance entrepreneurship and faith?

Entrepreneurship is faith! You got to have faith to build something from nothing or an idea in your head! However, the business aspect of entrepreneurship can blur the lines of faith especially dealing with money and contracts. Though I am an ordained minister, I keep my values at all times, but my boss hat is at the forefront at the business table. For my personal time, I spend time with God daily, usually the first part of the day before I begin any work on my business. I can tell the difference on the days I don’t, and I quickly recenter myself with prayer and meditation and start over.

What has been your biggest lesson thus far in your faith walk?

The biggest lesson in my faith walk is that what you start in faith must be completed in faith! I said earlier that anyone can start a business; it is extremely exciting!

However, maintaining that excitement through the rollercoasters of the journey is a different beast. You “see it” before it truly manifests. You hear a million “nos” before you get a real YES! And let’s not even talk about the season of “pro bono clients” to build or share your vision with doubters! I learned to keep going and never give up!! Just when you think it’s not working, it is, and your breakthrough is just around the corner. I learned the “struggle season” of business is to build you up, not to tear you down. I learned that if HE gave it to you, HE will help you with it! Your vision for your business must include the “GOD FACTOR” at all times, and HE must be your source of strength, wisdom, and finances. God MUST be your first business partner.

How do you remain focused during the difficult moments of entrepreneurship?

Prayer and listening to powerful, encouraging messages to feed my faith. I step away from social media and any negativity when I have my moments. I also don’t speak, I learned giving voice to your frustrations and venting can truly hurt you and set you back mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. I listen to Power Influence Radio and find encouraging words from Priscilla Shirer, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and TD Jakes on YouTube. Lastly, I DON’T QUIT!!

What is next for you? Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?

Great question!! I am in the final talks about getting back into television for a TV show to be launched by the end of this year. Power Influence Radio is expanding to add new shows/content and soon opening the door for sponsors. I am also relaunching my 501c3 organization Modern Proverbs Women mentoring and scholarship program. In the next 3-5 years, I see God using my platforms to be a blessing to millions and making a global impact for his Glory!! On a personal note, I hope to be married and living my purpose with a soul mate.

What advice would you give to other faith-based entrepreneurs?

”Where no wise guidance is, the people falleth; But in the multitude of counselors, there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14

Watch your circle and trust a Godly mentor or coach. You can not befriend everyone, but through much prayer and discernment, you will know who is for you. Invest in a faith-based business coach. Collaboration is important; this journey was not meant for you to walk alone. Last but not least, Keep GOD first. He is your source!

What Motivated you to start your own business?

I am an engineer at heart. I became a chemical engineer because I actually wanted to create and make my mark in the hair and beauty industry. I learned that chemical engineers help create and manufacture beauty products. I got really close to that with my first company called Myavana. I am the co-founder of that company and I operated that company as an active co-founder for about four years before I stepped down at the top of 2016. During that time period of being off, I started doing coaching and consulting and actually wrote my first book which is a fundraising guide and e-book that helped people raise money based on the experiences that I had as a beauty tech entrepreneur. That also led me to write my first book ‘31 Prayers for Spiritual Wealth’ and I wrote that book in 31 days. So when I was trying to write my NEXT book I was really struggling and realized that if I had a community I could write my book faster. So I put together a group of people and we started finishing our books in two weeks. Then I had the idea that what if I could help people write their books in 7 days? So using my engineering background, I created a system that would help you meet certain word counts using my accelerated outline. This really helped people finish their books within 7-30 days! And so our job as a publishing company is to help people create products and share their knowledge and information to produce generational wealth.

Tell us about the process to start your brand, what did the beginning stages entail for you?

I actually started my brand about a little over ten years ago when I first started entrepreneurship. It was an organic start and I started as the cofounder of the technology hair care company ‘Myavana’ during that process I shared most of my journey on my FB page. I shared the ups, the downs, the highs, and the lows. So when I began to transition into a faith-based entrepreneur and share more of my faith, it was a very simple transition. That transition into faith-based entrepreneurship led me to write my second book ‘31 prayers for spiritual wealth’ because I was very open and upfront about my entrepreneurial journey. People knew I love Jesus so I put those two together. And because I wrote my second book, when I launched my publishing company people remembered my journey into entrepreneurship because I had been talking about it and then they remembered I had published two books at this point so they just trusted me. From there my brand grew, Beyond The Book Media grew, and we were very intentional and consistent with showing up and serving our clients/customers. So when it came time to launch my newest brand ‘Kingdom Business Network’ which has over 100,000 subscribers on Clubhouse, it was a no-brainer. So you start with what you have organically and then you build onto that.

Tell us about your company Beyond the book media.

Beyond The Book, Media was started as a way to help myself finish my book quickly. It started as a small group of people that quickly grew to thousands of established and inspiring authors. We created a 7-day writing plan and formula that helped more specific brands, leaders, and influencers write books in as little as 7 days. In addition to that, we also help brands and authors publish their books. Here at Beyond The Book Media we offer full boutique publishing services and marketing services as well.

What role does your faith play in your business?

First of all, my faith is EVERYTHING! I can’t do business without faith because what you are doing as an entrepreneur or business owner is that you are creating something that typically has never been done or has never been done by you. So you have to have the faith to believe that you can do what you say you can do and that you can provide the service you say you are going to provide. Especially when you are starting out, you don’t know if any of it is going to work or fail and you have to have the faith to BELIEVE.

How do you balance entrepreneurship and Faith?

There is no balance. They are one and the same. I am an entrepreneur because I have faith, PERIOD! There is no one without the other. I would not have the success that I have, had I not had faith, believed in God Jesus, and called on the Holy Spirit. Had I not been dedicated in prayer and consecration and hearing what God has to say about my business. Each and every business and brand that I’ve created is faith-based, meaning God told me to do the actual business. So there is no balance.

What has been your biggest lesson thus far in your faith walk?

You have to trust God and trust yourself. You have to remember the original vision concerning your business. Why did you start it? That is going to be the marker in why you keep going. If you don’t have faith then you don’t have anything. Even if you are not a believer, if you don’t have faith to say ‘today I am going to serve my client and do what God called me to do, then you are left with nothing.

How do you remain focused during the difficult moments of entrepreneurship?

I talk to God. I lead a process called Prophetic Planning, where you wake up every morning, meet with God and journal what God is saying about your business. I created something like a movement and it’s something that I practice frequently. I am in constant communication with God asking him what he wants me to do. So when things get tough, I’m asking God how to handle this? And before you know it these strategies will pop into your mind and things will start working out.

What is next for you, where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?

I want Beyond The Book Media to become a major imprint where we are able to provide publishing deals and we are a contender in the Christian media space similar to other big names. We are going to have the funding for top-tier authors and talent to put together amazing media and PR campaigns to really launch their brands.

What advice would you give to other faith-based entrepreneurs?

If you are going to be a faith-based entrepreneur then you need to understand the keyword ‘faith’. I want you to keep the faith. Why did you start this business? And if you can remember why you started it, believe in yourself, and partner with God then you are unstoppable. The moment you stop believing in yourself, the moment you stop believing in God, the moment you stop believing in the reason you are doing what you are doing, you run the risk of quitting and failing.

You can find us at https://beyondthebookmedia.com/ and follow me @ChanelEMartin online everywhere! Thank you.

Pretty and Saved: Meet Dr. La’Quita Monley

Dr. La’Quita Monley is the CEO and master personal development coach of LaQuita Monley’s Solutions, where she teaches her clients how to pursue their purpose with a passion for reaching new heights in life and business.

Since 2010, La’Quita and her husband Ben have dedicated themselves to evangelism and discipleship. Ben’s military career moved the family from Texas to England, and this transition opened the door for them to begin their ministry on an international level. During their seven years living in Europe, the Lord opened doors for La’Quita to preach and teach in England, Germany, and Africa. Living and working outside of the United States enabled the military wife to gain valuable experiences while working with diverse cultures, ideas, and people

From her work in ministry, La’Quita noticed how people’s mindsets could often limit their success in both personal and professional settings. This inspired her to receive training and certification as a John C. Maxwell speaker, trainer, and coach. The personal development coach would then go on to produce her podcast, La’Quita’s Toolbox, which provided implementable life “tools” that lead to lasting success in life and business.

In 2022, La’Quita rebranded LaQuita’s Toolbox and changed the name to La’Quita Monley’s Solutions while still offering the same speaking and coaching services and continuing La’Quita’s Toolbox Podcast.

La’Quita’s undeniable zeal for life change is just as personal as it is purposeful. It was her deeply-rooted faith and disciplined thought patterns that helped her to persevere through the hardships of teen pregnancy and postpartum depression and navigate life as a military wife, overcome the unique challenges of living abroad, and rise as a multi-faceted woman of influence. Time and time again, the McComb, MS native has pressed forward, pulling on her inner strength, wisdom, and boldness needed to continue putting one foot in front of the other when naysayers let their doubts be known. Because she overcame, this woman of faith and purpose has no reservations about others’ ability to do the same.

LaQuita’s life’s mission is to guide, motivate, and equip individuals, small businesses, and corporations to soar to greater heights. This year LaQuita received an Honorary Doctorate and a Business Entrepreneur Coaching Certification from Trinity International University Ambassadors.

What Motivated you to start your own business?

My business is an extension of my ministry. Through my company, I can serve individuals who never step foot inside a church or attend a church-related event. My passion is people building, and that passion is not limited to those that share my same faith system.

Tell us about the process to start your brand, what did the beginning stages entail for you?

I was very reluctant in the beginning to step outside of my comfort zone because I was not sure how my business would align with who I am. To be honest, I wrestled with these concerns for several years. Little did I realize, as I continued pursuing my purpose related to ministry, I was simultaneously building my brand. Weekly, I would go live with my then co-host of the “Create Your Future Self Live” live broadcast and share tips to help entrepreneurs. Victor and I hosted the show for two years, and during this time, I was compelled to start my own podcast, and opportunities to speak presented themselves as well as opportunities to train realtors in my local community in the areas of sales and leadership, and communication. I was organically gaining traction and building a brand without really trying. I was intentional about connecting with and cultivating relationships with individuals that I had synergy with.

Once I became intentional about building my brand, I focused on researching who my ideal avatar was and how to best connect with them. My top priority was building the “know, like, and trust factor” by creating “value-added ” social media posts, podcast topics, live broadcasting, and guest appearances on other platforms.

Tell us about your company  LaQuita Monley Solutions?

Our mission is to help our clients :

Know Your IDENTITY

Understand Your PURPOSE

Walk in Your DESTINY

Whether your focus is on personal development or scaling your latest entrepreneurial venture, every successful project requires the right tools. LaQuita Monley Solutions’ passion is to partner with forward-focused women that are taking active steps to become the best versions of themselves. We help our clients discover implementable life “tools” that lead to lasting success in life and business.

What role does your faith play in your business?

My faith is the foundation of who I am, so it is interwoven into every aspect of my business. In my new book, “Redefining Success 8 Tools That I Used To Develop A Growth Mindset,” I discuss my faith’s role in every aspect of my life.

How do you balance entrepreneurship and Faith?

That’s a great question and one that I was conflicted about for a few years, but I would grow to learn that I do not have to balance who I am. I am not separate from my faith, nor is my business separate from my faith. My faith is foundational to who I am, so I have learned that being my authentic self draws my ideal client to me. Biblical principles are the foundation of my life and business, and I have found that practicing these principles without compromise is key to what I have determined success to be.

What has been your biggest lesson thus far in your faith walk?

The biggest lesson that I have learned in my faith walk is the difference between religion and relationship. Religion is detrimental to a healthy Christian walk, but a relationship is life. My intimate relationship with Jesus grows, matures, and produces positive changes in my life.

How do you remain focused during the difficult moments of entrepreneurship?

In difficult times, my center is my faith. As Believers, the scripture teaches us the power of meditation and prayer. It is time spent in meditation on God’s word that stills the war raging in my mind. In God’s presence is the fullness of joy, and in his presence, I find peace, clarity, and the ability to sift through the clutter and noise to hear clearly and think clearly.

What is next for you, where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?

In the next 3-5 years, I see my brand expanding to include a certification program that trains coaches and speakers.

What advice would you give to other faith-based entrepreneurs?

I would advise them not to separate business and ministry. Prioritize discovering who your ideal client avatar is and laser focus on how to craft your message to meet their needs. Research your avatar and create content that will build the “know, like, and trust” factor with your audience.

Basically, be yourself and always add value.

Meet Sheneè Shares

“SHARING MY LIFE’S JOURNEY IN ORDER TO GUIDE OTHERS TO THEIR UTMOST GOD-GIVEN POTENTIAL.”

The Baltimore native started at a young age in the Music ministry. From playing the piano/keyboard, leading Praise/Worship, a part of the Liturgical Dance Ministry, Shenee’ (known as Nee’) Woodson, a daughter of pastors, began using her gifts at an early age. At age 18, she wrote and directed her 1st Children’s Christmas musical “David’s Promise” Gaining experience in Music, Marketing, Public Relations and Event Planning while serving several churches in the Maryland, DC and Virginia areas, she continued to grow.

As time went on, her passion for writing began to resurface. She later became the managing editor and writer for several established national magazines. With all of these experiences, gifts and talents, she cofounded Indimogul Magazine. As the Co-Founder/Editor IN Chief of Indimogul Magazine, she began putting her writing skills into full action. Due to her diligence and hard work, Indimogul Magazine in less than a year interviewed many known Christian individuals.

As the magazine progressed, it was laid on her heart to change the name of the magazine to better fit its content. After much prayer and consultation, she did just that! In January 2018, His Favor Magazine was born and soon after His Favor Ministries was launched as a business. Under His Favor Ministries’ umbrella, other publications, His Favor TEEN Magazine, Men Of Favor (spanish magazine, Revista Cristiana Su Favor) surfaced. These publications featured the likes of Joyce Meyer, David and Tamela Mann, Michael B. Jordan and covered red carpet events such as the NAACP Awards, The Stellar Gospel Music Awards and the list goes on. Shenee’ also helped other inspiring publicists to launch their own magazines.

After almost 4 years of success, the decision was made to put her publicist hat down and share content via YouTube and Facebook Live. Shenee’ has also announced that she has been diagnosed with a rare brain disorder, Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

Although she is claiming her healing, she has joined the fight to bring awareness to these chronic illnesses and started her newest business venture, Shenee’ Shares LLC.

Even with all of this, she serves as a professional development trainer for the Maryland Department of Human Services where she facilitates classes such as Public Speaking, Managing Stress, Ethics and Customer Service and many Leadership Development Trainings. Shenee’ is also pursuing a Masters of Arts: Applied Psychology: Developmental Psychology (degree). She also accepted the role as the newest host of Damascus Roads and serves on the board of directors for
Declaring His Works Inc. (non-profit organization to support breast cancer awareness). When it comes to determination and resilience, this woman of God is a great example and has a powerful story that is still being told.

What has been your greatest achievement thus far in your entrepreneurial journey?

My greatest achievement thus far was when I realized that “His Favor” was recognized by people I never met. They didn’t know exactly who I was, but if I wore one of my His Favor T-shirts, they recognized the logo or heard of the magazine. This meant a lot to me because I always knew that the brand wasn’t about me, but about promoting other people and ministries. This was evidence that the mission was accomplished.

What obstacles have you overcome to get where you are today?

I’ve been diagnosed with a rare brain disorder, Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) as well as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). These 2 chronic illnesses have taken their toll on me. With different doctors trying to figure out How to treat to 2 simultaneously, I always felt drained, dizzy, nauseous, and even moments of lost vision. It was hard trying to run a publication, finish my Master’s degree and even go to work. But to God be the Glory, I started another business “Sheneè Shares LLC” in the midst of it. I focus more on taking each day as it comes and being productive, listening to my body, and believing in God for healing.

What role has social media played in your career?

It has played a huge role! Not just when it comes to promoting and getting the word out about the brands, but the connections I have made with people across the world have been amazing. Some of them are like family that I’ve never seen in person except in a zoom call, but the mutual support of each other is something I do not think would have happened without social media… at least not so quickly.

What advice do you have for women entering the entrepreneurship world?

My advice would be to stay true to yourself… the woman that God created you to be. The stereotype that all women compete with each other is a narrative I steer away from. Being authentic in who you are as a woman allows you to focus on exactly how you want your audience or consumers to view you. Do not try to be like someone else because their business is trending or popular. You have to find your own unique sense and remember that there is room for all of us even if you are in a marker that seems saturated.

For New Journalists entering the media industry, what 3 keys would you share to achieve longevity in this industry?

●Work in excellence. Even when obstacles occur, present yourself in a way that is full of integrity.

●Fail fast is not a saying but it’s true. If an “oops” happens; sit back, learn from it and keep moving. Please do not give up or wallow in the space for a long time.

●Do not be afraid to research and reach out! The interviews are not going to come to you all the time. Constantly network! Even when you think you are known, there is someone that still needs to know you.

You have recently launched a new interview platform that shares the stories of other creatives, can you tell us about that?

Gladly! I’m so excited about it! I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing some big names such as Michael B. Jordan, Joyce Meyer, and Tamales Mann. However, we are in a time where people are hurting. It has been my own experience that sharing my journey (the ups and downs) has aided in healing to others and even encouraged them to speak their truth. If we as creatives can be transparent and allow people to see the “not so glamorous moments”, yet we are still accomplishing goals and pursuing our purpose, I believe it will inspire others to not give up. It’s another way of saying “If I can make it, so can you”.

Where do you see your brand in the next 3-5 years?

Honestly, I have learned where I see my brand is null and void. I don’t mean to sound deep and spiritual, but God has shifted my plans on too many occasions. From changing the magazine’s name to the decision to end the publications and just stream live, I never know what is next for me. One thing I do know, in 3-5 years, I will still be obedient and continue to share the love of God; locally, nationally, and internationally.

What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?

The definition is more than what meets the eyes. It is a lifestyle. It has nothing to do with looks. It is the mindset of a woman who knows who she is from the inside out. It is a woman who does what she can to be there for her family and even friends. She works hard to achieve goals but also works hard to be able to live her life as well. She is not afraid of hustle because she knows the reward(s) in the end.
