What does Sucré Couture mean?
Sucré Couture translates to sweet fashion in French, but we’re redefining what it means to us. Femininity isn’t exclusive to all things pretty. Sucré Couture to us means raw, sexy, and uncut edge. We aren’t bound to anyone’s traditional ideals of what it means to be a woman.
What do you want consumers to envision when they hear the name the Sucré Couture?
We want people to envision the 90s aesthetic nearly all of us have come to love and admire. We want people to think heavy gold, red nails, attitude, and the vintage appeal a lot of us 80s/90s babies were raised on.
Sucré Couture Jewelry has been in a lot of fashion style publications. What was the very first publication? How did that feel seeing your brand on the pages?
Our very first publication was British Vogue followed by Sheen Magazine. It felt gratifying — like someone really sees us and what we’re capable of doing and creating.
What makes a Sucré Girl?
A Sucré Girl defined is a fiery masterpiece on her best and worst days. Magnetically attractive by way of her resilience, confidence, and how she shows up and shows out in the world — Sucré Girls are undeniably sexy and supreme in all facets.
What is your favorite piece? What makes it your favorite?
My favorite piece to date has to be the Basic Instinct Necklace. The latch sets it all the way off.
10 years in the jewelry industry is phenomenal! What advice can you give aspiring jewelry designers?
This might sound cliché but keep pushing. Be determined in wanting to see your vision come to life. There will be tons of trial and error, but the mistakes make for an even better masterpiece. There’s no real instant gratification in this game. So you have to have the tough skin to make your brand stand strong.
Finally, if you could design for any celebrity past or present, who would it be and why?
That is an awesome question. If I could design a piece for any celebrity in the past it would be Billie Holiday. A Sucré Girl indeed — I’d design a whole collection for her.
