She’s Making Pretty Herstory: Meet Monica Davis

Monica Davis is a communications and media professional and award-winning brand narrative strategist and storyteller.

She is a best-selling author of Welcome to the Top and Starts Your Business Right. As CEO of Atela Productions, Monica is also the founder of Exceptional People Magazine and the visionary behind the new media platform, the Exceptional People Network.

While Monica has been in the media industry for over two decades, building a successful media network wasn’t the goal. Monica grew up in northern Virginia, and as a young child, she often thought about positively impacting the masses but had no idea how this would take shape until later on down her life’s path.

Her parents instilled in her the importance of ethics, hard work, and faith. “These things have become the foundation of my life and everything I do.” Monica is a graduate of Park University, where she received a B.S. in Computer Information Systems.

Monica is a trusted media source that inspires countless people to transform their life purpose into exceptional masterpieces. Her 20+ year career has allowed her to create an entire network of trustworthy brands for people looking to make positive changes in themselves and the world. As a communications and media professional, her expertise has enabled her to develop exceptional and award-winning narratives for small businesses, luminaries, Fortune 500 leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

Her newest endeavor, the Exceptional People Network, is an invaluable resource offering a comprehensive selection of life-changing content aimed at educating, inspiring, and helping entrepreneurs and professionals discover their gifts and greatness, personally and professionally, and help solve the problems they encounter in their business and lives.

Being able to sit down with women making Herstory in their lane of expertise is always amazing to us. We had the pleasure to catch up with Monica and ask her a few questions about her journey thus far.

What inspired your start in entrepreneurship?

My inspiration for entrepreneurship began when I discovered I could inspire others to investigate their lives and recognize the change they could make in themselves and others. Once I became a first-time author, I realized I could inspire others to take a deeper look at who they were. That’s when I knew I wanted to create an entrepreneurial roadmap for doing that on a larger scale.

What has been the highlight of your career thus far?

The highlight of my career has been through my work and compassion for humanity which spans my entire career. I’ve used my skills and creativity to encourage, enlighten, and educate millions to live well, do well and impact others every day.

If you could attribute your success to any in your life who would it be?

I credit my success to my parents for instilling in me the power of faith and trusting God to be the foundation in all that I do. My business coaches and associates have also played a significant role in my business decisions on my entrepreneurial journey.

What message do you hope women take away from your platform?

I want women to know that they hold the keys to unlimited opportunities. They can leverage the experiences and proven insights of others to help guide them along their journey and propel them to new levels of success. They can also have a significant impact on humanity in whatever they choose to do. It all begins with your story — and how you present it to yourself and the world.

What is your go-to quote for motivation?

“If you don’t’ like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”

 Maya Angelou

The power of change lies within each of us. No matter where you are in life, you can affect change which can only have a ripple effect. It doesn’t have to be anything significant or something that impacts thousands. If you don’t like some aspect of your own life, start there. You’ll be amazed at how a slight change in your life can inspire others to do the same.

What does being a woman making Herstory mean to you?

It means staying committed to my vision. It’s always been about serving others in ways that enable them to capitalize on their strengths and transform weaknesses into powerful testimonies. It’s also about helping them live the best version of themselves by using their own story as a platform for change at work, in business, and life.

 Thank you for this opportunity.
