The Big Mouth Toothbrush boasts an extra-large brush head and bristles that are 3 times the size of a regular toothbrush, making it more effective than traditional toothbrushes.

Dr. Bobbi is the owner of Aces Braces in Brooklyn, New York. She prides her company on the belief that “better” should be attainable for everyone, by making it possible for everyone to have access to better smiles and better oral health overall. What inspired the start of ” The Big Mouth Toothbrush,”? 

I’m a second-generation oral healthcare provider, and I’ve always been invested in promoting oral health as a critical component of overall health and well-being. I’d been practicing orthodontics for years, and I was challenged by the fact that people do not brush their teeth as recommended, and sometimes the results are devasting. I had already begun to explore other entrepreneurial ventures, such as my tooth jewelry and lip care lines called “Oral Fixation.” I’d even submitted my first children’s book, entitled “Tanner’s Teeth,” on the importance of oral care. So I was preparing to take the next step towards improving oral health and was talking to my family on our weekly family call. I examined my concern about how most of my patients did not brush their teeth as recommended. I thought that if there was a way to improve the brushing experience, more people might brush routinely as recommended.

Despite industry trends such as smaller brush heads, I thought that increasing the size of the toothbrush head would potentially reduce the amount of time needed to thoroughly brush one’s teeth. We discussed several possible names, and “Big Mouth” seemed to resonate the most, so the first product of the Big Mouth Oral Care line, the Big Mouth toothbrush, was born.

What has been the biggest challenge of running a brand like ” The Big Mouth Toothbrush“?

The biggest challenge with the Big Mouth toothbrush so far has been managing manufacturing and shipping issues during the height of COVID. Thankfully, persistence and commitment allowed us to push through, even though there are some residual challenges.

How does ” The Big Mouth Toothbrush” brand impact the needs of its local community?

The Big Mouth toothbrush brand is revolutionizing the preventative oral care experience. We travel across the country promoting oral healthcare, giving presentations, and hosting oral health fairs in our community. We also routinely donate a portion of our proceeds to support various causes, such as breast cancer research and treatment, community organizations, and disaster relief. Our goal is to continue to make a significant impact on the local community and the community at large through service.

Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?

The Big Mouth Oral Care line will continue to launch innovative oral care products that meet the needs of the community and facilitate good oral health care practices. We have several items in production, at least one of which will be launched this year.

What advice do you have for the next generation of entrepreneurs?

I would like to share the words of our dear family Uncle Mac, “stay focused.” Believe it. Achieve it. Get it done.

What does being “Pretty and Black Owned” mean to you? 

 ‘Pretty is as pretty does”.. Beautiful on the other hand, Beautiful and Black-owned means so many things to me, self-defining, self-determined, Boss, becoming better. Beautiful and Black-owned embodies the principles of Kwanzaa to me.
