From Fallsburg to Center Stage: Meet Nyasia Chane’l

Allow me to introduce you to Nyasia Chane’l:

Nyasia is a multi-talented entertainer from the great state of New York.

Let’s dive into our conversation:

Where are you from? Where did you grow up?

I am a New Yorker. I grew up in the small town of Fallsburg in Sullivan County, located in the Catskills region of Upstate New York.

When were you first introduced to music?

I’ve always been surrounded by music. When I was in college, a friend brought me into the studio, and I heard myself on the microphone. I instantly fell in love. I’ve always liked the idea of trying something new, and from then on, I arranged studio time and created my first song.

Who is your favorite singer?

I have several favorite singers, including Etta James, Mary J. Blige, and Beyoncé. However, my top choice would have to be Etta James.

What is your favorite genre of music?

My favorite genre to listen to is R&B.

You are also a songwriter. What motivates you to write a song?

Honestly, the experiences I go through and the people around me inspire me to write. I’ve found that writing is therapeutic.

To date, which song you’ve written resonates with you the most?

“Midsummer Dream.”

If you had the opportunity to collaborate with any artist today, who would it be and why?

I would love to collaborate with Beyoncé. I admire her approach to her records, the dynamics of her voice, and her vocal arrangements. She truly inspires me to explore new ideas, so I can definitely see myself working with her.

Who has been your favorite collaboration so far, and why?

Choosing a favorite collaboration is tough because I’ve loved all of them. However, I’d say my favorite one was a cover I did of Blanco Brown’s “Never Gonna Tame You.” I was thrilled when he shared it on his page, and the famous Diane Warren loved my rendition, allowing me to distribute it.

It’s said that you could be a triple threat—singing, acting, and modeling. Which do you prefer these days?

I’d like to consider myself an entertainer in the truest sense.

As a full-time entertainer, do you have the opportunity to indulge in any other hobbies or activities? If so, what are they?

Yes, my favorite hobby is playing pool. My dad introduced me to the sport, and I enjoy it during my free time. Besides that, I love spending time with my family and friends.

If you had to give advice to the next generation of entertainers, what would it be?

Understand your “why” and your purpose. Always keep in mind that no one will want your dream more than you do, so if you truly want it, work for it.
