She’s Pretty and Black Owned: Meet Samantha Minott
Pretty and Black Owned is a celebration of brilliance, beauty, and bold business moves. This series spotlights Black women who are building powerful brands, creating impact, and owning their lane with confidence and purpose. From passion to profit, these women represent what it looks like to lead, thrive, and win.
Imagine a world where minority women have access to healthcare that is preventative and holistic. A world where health disparities such as maternal death rates, diabetes, colon cancer, and hypertension have significantly decreased. A world where Black and Hispanic health practices afford economic growth, stability, and self-sufficiency. A world where generational wealth is a natural outcome of supporting wellness.
About the Founder:

Samantha Minott is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in functional nutrition who has helped thousands of individuals improve their health by addressing the root causes of illness, not just the symptoms. Through years of clinical practice, Samantha identified a critical gap in the healthcare system: a model that often treats patients as isolated parts rather than whole people, relying on temporary fixes instead of true healing. She believes this approach leads to suboptimal care and leaves many patients feeling unheard and underserved.
Driven by a passion for whole-person healing, Samantha founded Wellness Evolving, a wellness practice designed to bridge that gap by blending medical expertise, functional nutrition, and faith-based wellness. Her work empowers individuals to take ownership of their health through education, intentional lifestyle changes, and a holistic approach that honors the mind, body, and spirit.
Beyond her clinical work, Samantha is a dedicated educator and advocate for women’s health equity. In 2024, she hosted the virtual event “What Your Provider Won’t Tell You,” created to enlighten and empower women of color with the knowledge and tools needed to confidently navigate primary care and specialty medical visits.
In 2025, she launched “It Has To Be You,” a transformative virtual series designed to help women take small, intentional steps toward creating the holistic change they desire in their lives: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Samantha has also hosted two in-person experiences as part of Natanya Bravo’s Delulu Meet Ups, supporting women in embracing bold belief, dreaming unapologetically, and becoming “delusional” enough about their goals to actually achieve them.
Through Wellness Evolving, community education, and experiential events, Samantha Minott continues to challenge the status quo of healthcare, guiding women toward empowered, informed, and faith-rooted wellness.
What inspired the start of Wellness Evolving?
There’s a quote that says, “ first the healer suffers, then brings back the medicine.” Carl Jung. This is generally the case with entrepreneurs. When life brings you challenges, and you overcome them, you learn from them. You realize that it was not in vain because you now have a blueprint to help others. God showed me that through transforming one’s health, you can change the trajectory of generations so that is what I’m here to do.
What has been the biggest challenge of running a brand like Wellness Evolving?
The biggest challenge that I had to overcome in running a brand like Wellness Evolving is the idea that things needed to be perfect. The idea that I had to have it all figured out, the idea that I had to be in optimal health myself in order to help others. That was a lie, which is why the business is called Wellness Evolving, because as you continue on your journey, there will be more things that need to be tweaked and adjusted. The end goal is a moving target, and the real treasures are in the middle.
How does Wellness Evolving impact its local community?
This is a great question, our focus was initially growing our virtual community, but this year, we are actively working on creating events and workshops in the local community to educate others on Functional Nutrition and how making small intentional steps overtime can make great change. Stay tuned.
How can women in particular benefit from what your brand has to offer?
I specifically cater to Christian women of color, as this demographic has long been overlooked, has poor health outcomes, but whose input and well-being are crucial for the household. My brand allows for women to be heard, seen, and have a unique experience of collaborating with a health coach that incorporates not only physical and mental well-being, with a spiritual well-being as well.
Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?
In 3 to 5 years, I hope to see my brand as the leading Christian health and wellness coaching service, both nationally and internationally. Additionally, creating a program to guide other health coaches, specifically healthcare practitioners, who want to truly make an impact.
What advice do you have for the next generation of entrepreneurs?
Don’t chase the money. Especially if you are faith-based, the Bible says, ” Seek first the kingdom of heaven and all things shall be added on to you. Being an entrepreneur is all about service, and God is all about his people so if you treat his people like the true riches they are, God will make sure that you receive the monetary riches to continue to help his people. Being able to impact others has been the greatest blessing to me.
What does being “Pretty and Black Owned” mean to you?
It means going through this life and entrepreneurial journey with grace, with a certain level of standards, with resilience. It also means leveraging the community because we were never meant to do this alone.
