Kea Lee is a wife, mother of two, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst dedicated to helping families better understand and navigate challenging behaviors in children. She is the founder and owner of Moment of Behavior, a virtual parent coaching and behavior consultation practice that supports families dealing with behavioral challenges, autism diagnoses, and long waitlists for ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy.

Through her work, Lee provides compassionate guidance, practical tools, and education that help parents recognize that behavior is a form of communication. Her approach focuses on empowering families with real-life strategies that foster calmer homes, stronger parent–child connections, and greater confidence in their parenting journey.

As a Black woman and mother, Lee’s work is deeply personal and purpose-driven. She is passionate about meeting families where they are, offering support without judgment, and reminding parents that they are capable, supported, and never alone in navigating their child’s behavioral and developmental needs.

What inspired the start of “Moment of Behavior”?

I have been in my field for over 8 years and started to notice there was a lack when it came to parent support being provided when families are on the waitlist for ABA therapy services. Many families are on waitlists, but are lost and do not know what to do regarding managing challenging behavior and understanding their child who has a new diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Once I noticed that, I immediately wanted to create a “bridge the gap” service so families could feel supported, seen, and have clarity.

What has been the biggest challenge of running a practice like “Moment of Behavior”?

The primary challenge has been building awareness for this specialized niche. Because ‘bridge-the-gap’ support is a relatively new concept in the ABA space, many families don’t realize that help is available to them while they wait for formal services. My focus now is on education, ensuring that families and providers alike know that they don’t have to navigate the waitlist period alone.

How does “Moment of Behavior” impact its local community?

Moment of Behavior impacts its local community by providing workshops to local mom groups and attending Autism summits to disseminate information about behavior/how to effectively manage it.

How can women in particular benefit from what your practice has to offer?

My focus is on supporting mothers of children with neurodivergent profiles, whether they have a formal Autism diagnosis or are simply seeking to understand behavioral patterns. I provide the clinical insight and practical education needed to move away from reactive parenting and toward proactive, positive behavior management.

Where do you hope to see your practice in the next 3-5 years?

I hope to see my practice as the top company for waitlist and parent coaching services. Not only through 1:1 coaching but through memberships/community, creating a culture of its own where mothers alike can bond and build meaningful relationships with others that share the same experience.

What advice do you have for the next generation of entrepreneurs?

The key is to remain consistent during the quiet periods when growth isn’t immediately visible. It’s vital to avoid the trap of comparison; success is not a zero-sum game. Every professional journey follows its own timeline, and your specific contribution remains valuable regardless of how it compares to others in the field.

What does being “Pretty and Black Owned” mean to you?

To me, Pretty and Black-Owned is more than an aesthetic; it’s a standard of character. It means that my outward appearance is matched by the beauty of my intentions and the way I treat others. As a Black woman entrepreneur, I am not just building a business, I am breaking generational curses and shifting the trajectory for my children. I carry myself with grace because I know I am paving the way for the legacy that follows me.
