What inspired the start of UnStuck Worldwide?

What inspired me to start UnStuck Worldwide LLC was a desire to become the support and guide I once needed.

My journey with grief began at the age of seven when my grandmother—the matriarch of our family, who co-parented with my mother to help raise me—passed away. After her death, our family fell apart. At that time, especially in the Black community, there was no roadmap for healing. Therapy wasn’t something people talked about, and there were no tools to help us recover from such a traumatic loss. Outwardly, we kept moving forward—going to school, working, handling responsibilities, and walking in excellence—but inwardly, we were suffering in silence.

After my grandmother’s passing, I experienced one loss after another, like a domino effect, leaving me with cumulative grief. I learned to push my feelings down and function. I reached high heights in my career and education, yet emotionally, I was still that seven-year-old little girl who never learned how to process her pain. I became stuck—unable to move forward, unable to heal from the losses, and unable to experience lasting inward joy because I was carrying so much unresolved sorrow.

Over time, that unaddressed grief began to affect every part of my life, including my health. I went from being a size 13 most of my life to reaching 325 pounds after the birth of my daughter. I eventually realized my weight gain wasn’t about what I was doing—it was about what I wasn’t doing: addressing the grief I had buried for decades.

It wasn’t until I began blogging that I uncovered a lifetime of hidden pain. Through therapy and grief education, I finally understood that I was stuck—unable to find meaning and purpose in my pain. That revelation is where the name UnStuck came from: being in a place where you feel unable to move forward. That was me—stuck in my grief.

As I studied grief through certifications and my own healing journey, I realized this calling wasn’t just for me. I was meant to be the light that helps illuminate the darkness of grief for others—to be the support I once needed. UnStuck Worldwide was created to guide people in moving from grief, loss, and pain toward discovering profound meaning, joy, and purpose.

What has been the biggest challenge of running a brand like UnStuck Worldwide?

The biggest challenge has been finding my true lane—my specific audience and niche.

Everyone experiences grief, but I can’t help everyone. I’ve had to ask myself important questions and really dig deep in prayer about my true purpose: What is my unique fingerprint? What specific problem am I called to solve? Who am I truly meant to serve?

Learning to scale down and clarify my voice has been a process. Early on, I wanted to be everything to everybody, but I’ve learned the importance of focusing on my unique purpose and value.

Another challenge has been balancing service with sustainability. Because my business serves people who are hurting, I had to learn that it’s okay to be paid for my time and expertise while still serving with compassion. Understanding my worth—and charging accordingly—has been an important part of my growth as both a business owner and a woman of faith.

How does UnStuck Worldwide impact its local community?

I impact my community by promoting grief literacy everywhere I go and by creating safe spaces for people to give their pain a voice.

My debut book, My Love Letters to the Grieving: You Are Not Alone, opened doors for me to share grief education while also ministering to those who are hurting. The book is written in first person to the griever and includes journaling spaces, reflection questions, prayers, and scriptures. It serves as a 30-day companion, guide, and coach for those walking through loss.

One of the hardest parts of witnessing grief is feeling helpless when words aren’t enough. I created this book so that even when phone calls stop, when people go back to their lives, and when the meals stop coming, those who are grieving still have something to hold onto.

Beyond the book, I serve my community through author talks, workshops, and speaking engagements focused on grief education and resiliency tools. I partner with businesses, colleges, nonprofits, and churches to help people develop the language and tools to process grief in healthy ways.

I also share grief literacy content across social media platforms under the handle @unstuck_worldwide, host the Grief Café Podcast, and offer a free grief journal on my website for those who cannot afford resources.

My mission is simple: to be a guiding light illuminating the darkness of grief.
Our vision is for the brokenhearted to heal and recover, transitioning from grief, loss, and pain to discover meaning, joy, and purpose.

How can women in particular benefit from what your brand has to offer?

Women can benefit from UnStuck Worldwide because it creates space for honest conversations about emotional healing.

So many women are carrying silent pain while still showing up for everyone else. My work encourages women to look inward, recognize their own cycles of suffering, and begin the healing they deserve.

Through my brand, women are reminded that they are not alone, that their feelings are valid, and that healing is possible—even in the deepest pain. While my work is grounded in faith, it is not exclusive to it. I believe that practical grief tools combined with emotional awareness can help women rediscover their strength, purpose, and voice.

When women heal, families heal. And when families heal, communities heal. As mothers, wives, and caretakers, we often put everyone else first. But we cannot pour from an empty cup. We have to water our own garden so we can continue to pour into others.

Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3–5 years?

In the next 3–5 years, I see UnStuck Worldwide sparking a global movement of healing.

I intentionally named the company “Worldwide” because grief is universal. Healing should not be limited to one city, church, or community. My vision is to travel nationally and internationally, speaking, teaching, and equipping people with tools to process grief in healthy ways.

I also plan to release additional books and resources that continue to support people on their healing journeys. I see UnStuck Worldwide becoming a trusted global platform where individuals, organizations, and communities come to learn how to transform pain into purpose.

Ultimately, I want to be used as a vessel to help people everywhere discover that healing is possible and that life after loss can still be meaningful and beautiful.

What advice do you have for the next generation of entrepreneurs?

Write your ideas down and don’t be afraid to dream big.

Your vision may feel overwhelming at first, but start anyway. Pray, reflect, and seek clarity on what you are truly called to do. Often, our greatest pain becomes the doorway to our greatest purpose.

But before you chase success, prioritize your own healing. No amount of money or achievement can replace emotional wellness. If we are not healthy internally, we will eventually burn out and hurt ourselves and others.

Be still. Take care of yourself. Build your business from a place of wholeness, not brokenness. When you are emotionally and spiritually grounded, you can create something that lasts—something truly impactful, beautiful, and honoring before the Lord.

What does being “Pretty and Black Owned” mean to you?

To me, “Pretty and Black Owned” means recognizing that my beauty is not just external—it is rooted in who I am and who created me.

As an African American woman, I celebrate my heritage, my legacy, and the excellence my family instilled in me. I know my worth is not defined by the world’s standards but by God’s purpose for my life.

Being Black-owned means carrying responsibility with pride—building something that not only supports my family but also uplifts and heals others. It represents resilience, faith, legacy, and purpose. It honors the reality that my ancestors bled and died so that I could walk in freedom, excellence, and purpose.

I am proud to be a Black woman in business, creating a brand that brings light, healing, and hope to people around the world. To say that I own something, created something, and have the freedom to lead is deeply redeeming for my family. It solidifies my legacy and the fingerprint I will leave on the earth for my children and generations after me.

This work is about breaking cycles in my bloodline and leaving a rich inheritance—not only for my family, but for all those who will be impacted by what I do to walk in greatness, perseverance, and resilience for generations to come.
