She’s Pretty and Black Owned: Meet Becca Woods
Pretty and Black Owned is a celebration of brilliance, beauty, and bold business moves. This series spotlights Black women who are building powerful brands, creating impact, and owning their lane with confidence and purpose. From passion to profit, these women represent what it looks like to lead, thrive, and win.

Becca Woods is a creative director, cultural curator, and the founder of ImBeccable, a community-centered creative brand dedicated to storytelling, culture, and intentional experiences that support and amplify Black-owned businesses in Charlotte, North Carolina. Built on the belief that Black creators deserve spaces where they are genuinely seen, supported, and celebrated, ImBeccable has grown into a platform that blends curated experiences, cultural programming, and brand storytelling rooted in connection, impact, and legacy.
One of Woods’ signature initiatives is the Thick Chick Flea Market, a thoughtfully curated marketplace inspired by body positivity and the plus-size community. The event highlights Black-owned brands, creatives, food vendors, and wellness practitioners while fostering meaningful relationships and collaboration among entrepreneurs. Designed as more than a marketplace, it creates a vibrant community experience that circulates visibility and support within Black creative ecosystems.
A graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Woods earned her degree in 2023 and served as Director of Media Relations for the university’s Student University Activities Board. In that role, she led creative direction for graphics and content supporting more than 20 executive board members and their teams while contributing to event planning for campus programs, including activations during Greatest Homecoming on Earth, one of the most culturally significant HBCU homecomings in the country.
Through her work, Woods remains committed to honoring Black legacy while designing modern, intentional spaces where culture, creativity, and community care intersect. At its core, ImBeccable reflects her mission to build with purpose, uplifting Black creatives, preserving cultural memory, and creating experiences that leave a lasting impact.
What inspired the start of “ImBeccable”?
ImBeccable started in December 2023, the year I graduated from my illustrious university, North Carolina A&T. After serving for the premier programming organization, assisting with events and social media campaigns for events as large as GHOE (Greatest Homecoming on Earth), I knew I wanted to continue my journey with social media management and community engagement at a larger scale than just managing others.’ accounts and social media. I wanted something for myself, to make for my own personal development and legacy.
What has been the biggest challenge of running a brand like “ImBeccable”?
One challenge I face running ImBeccable is translating a multidimensional vision into something instantly understandable without diluting the magic. The brand lives at the intersection of culture, feeling, and community, which doesn’t always fit neatly into one category or tagline. Because it’s so deeply tied to my essence, I also carry the emotional weight of the brand’s wins and growing pains. The work is learning how to invite people into the experience quickly, while still letting the depth reveal itself over time.
How does “ImBeccable” impact its local community?
ImBeccable brings people together who might not have crossed paths otherwise, creating a shared energy that feels familiar the moment you step in. The community becomes the culture, carrying the same warmth, creativity, and intention whether they attend once or keep coming back. It’s not just about an event, it’s about building real connections and visibility for people and brands within the city. What starts as a moment continues as a movement that lives beyond just a singular space and time.
How can women in particular benefit from what your brand has to offer?
Women, especially Black women, benefit from ImBeccable by stepping into a space where they are seen, valued, and centered. The brand is led by a Black creative woman who understands underrepresentation and the deep desire for community and meaningful experiences. ImBeccable creates opportunities for empowerment through connection, visibility, and shared creativity. It offers a place to engage authentically, without performing or shrinking. More than access, it provides alignment, affirmation, and a sense of belonging that extends beyond the content or event itself.
Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?
I envision ImBeccable growing far beyond its current scope, creating experiences and cultivating clients well outside of North Carolina and even the United States. The goal is to build a brand that travels, resonates, and leaves its imprint across cultures and cities. At its core, ImBeccable will continue elevating creativity while honoring authenticity in every space it enters. Each day is about expanding the vision without losing the soul that makes it unmistakably ImBeccable.
What advice do you have for the next generation of entrepreneurs?
Do it scared. God instills your ideas in you so that you can execute them. Don’t wait to act upon it because there’s no such thing as the “right moment” — it’s better to do it scared, uncomfortable, and undefined, not at all!
What does being “Pretty and Black Owned” mean to you?
Being “Pretty and Black Owned” is more than a statement, but more so an embodiment of a particular lifestyle cultivated through efforts and actions that are conducive to the luxe lifestyle that we envision for ourselves, personally and professionally!
