Pretty Little Reads is a Black-owned, women-led book club and community based in South Florida, created to bring women together through reading, conversation, and thoughtfully curated experiences. While books are at our core, our mission extends beyond reading; we focus on building sisterhood, intentional community, and spaces where women can grow, connect, and feel seen.

Our events center around literature, personal development, and shared experiences that celebrate creativity, culture, and connection. We’re passionate about highlighting diverse voices, supporting women-owned and Black-owned businesses, and creating meaningful moments that leave a lasting impact on our members.

What inspired the start of Pretty Little Reads?
Pretty Little Reads was inspired by a desire to create intentional, in-person space for women to connect beyond their everyday routines. Reading has always been a personal refuge for me, and I wanted to transform that individual experience into something communal. The vision was to build a space where women could gather around books, conversation, and shared experiences while forming genuine connections and a sense of belonging.

What has been the biggest challenge of running a brand like Pretty Little Reads?
The biggest challenge has been building community with intention while allowing the brand to grow naturally. Creating meaningful experiences requires care, consistency, and trust. Balancing growth with intimacy, making sure each gathering still feels personal, welcoming, and aligned with our values, has been both challenging and deeply rewarding.

How does Pretty Little Reads impact its local community?
Pretty Little Reads impacts the local community by creating spaces where women can connect offline in thoughtful, curated environments. Our gatherings encourage conversation, reflection, and genuine relationships. Through collaborations with local venues, creatives, and women partners, we help foster connection and strengthen community ties.

How can women in particular benefit from what your brand has to offer?
Pretty Little Reads is intentionally built around in-person connections in Miami. In a time where so much interaction happens digitally, our gatherings create opportunities for women to meet face-to-face, engage in meaningful conversation, and build authentic relationships.Books are our connector, but the experience extends beyond reading. Through discussions, wellness-focused events, community service initiatives, and partnerships with other women, we offer multiple ways to connect, collaborate, and grow together. Pretty Little Reads is more than a book club, it is a community rooted in shared experiences, connection, and support.

Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3–5 years?
In the next 3–5 years, I envision Pretty Little Reads expanding into multiple cities while maintaining the intimacy and intention that define the brand. I see it growing into a recognized community for women who value literature, connection, and intentional living, supported by meaningful partnerships and thoughtfully curated experiences.

What advice do you have for the next generation of entrepreneurs?
Build it and they will come. Pretty Little Reads started with just 12 women, and today our community has grown to over 100 women and continues to grow every month. Focus on building something authentic, stay committed to your vision, and trust the process. When you lead with purpose and consistency, the right people will find their way to what you’ve created.

What does being “Pretty and Black Owned” mean to you?
Being “Pretty and Black Owned” means creating from a place of culture, pride, and intention. It’s about honoring Black creativity, resilience, and excellence while building something that feels elevated, welcoming, and impactful. To me, it represents ownership, vision, and the beauty of creating community while standing confidently in who you are and where you come from.
