Redefining Oral Care Through Science and Intent: A Conversation with Dr. Abi
Wellness is being redefined and in the midst of conversations around mental health, fitness, and self-care, one essential area is finally stepping into focus: oral health. No longer confined to routine checkups or cosmetic fixes, oral care is emerging as a critical pillar of whole-body wellness, deeply connected to how we feel, function, and show up in our daily lives.

At the center of this shift is Dr. Abi, dentist and founder of Dentrogen, who is reimagining what modern oral care can look like. With a unique blend of scientific precision and design-forward thinking, she is bridging the long-standing gap between clinical dentistry and everyday consumer experience. Her work challenges the passive habits many have grown accustomed to, inviting a more intentional, informed approach to oral health one rooted in prevention, balance, and long-term impact.
In honor of World Oral Health Day, Dr. Abi shares how she’s building a purpose-driven brand, why oral health deserves a more prominent place in wellness conversations, and how small, consistent shifts can transform not just your routine, but your overall quality of life.
As conversations around wellness continue to evolve, oral health is finally getting the attention it deserves. Dr. Abi, dentist and founder of Dentrogen, is at the forefront of this shift—bringing a science-first, design-conscious approach to everyday dental care. In recognition of Women’s History Month and the growing awareness sparked by World Oral Health Day, she shares her perspective on prevention, balance, and building a brand with purpose.
What drew you to dentistry as a career path?
Dentistry naturally combines science and artistry in a way that felt aligned with my interests. It allows me to work with my hands while incorporating my background in sculpting, shaping not only aesthetics but also confidence and everyday experiences through oral care.
What motivated you to launch Dentrogen, and what makes it different?
I noticed a consistent gap between clinical knowledge and what consumers experience in everyday products. Dentrogen was created to bridge that divide—translating research and biological principles into modern solutions designed for daily use. The focus is on thoughtful formulation, education, and creating products that truly support long-term oral health.
From your perspective, why does oral health deserve more attention in wellness conversations?
Oral health is deeply connected to overall health, yet it’s often overlooked or framed purely around aesthetics. The conversation needs to expand to include prevention, education, and long-term care so people can make more informed decisions about their health.
For readers looking to elevate their routine, what habits make the biggest impact?
Prioritize gentle, consistent brushing with low-abrasive products. Clean between your teeth daily, and begin to see oral care as an intentional act of self-care rather than something done passively. That shift in approach can significantly improve outcomes.
Which Dentrogen product has seen the strongest response so far?
Our toothpaste has resonated the most. It’s formulated with naturally derived ingredients that are effective yet gentle, offering whitening benefits while maintaining a healthy, balanced oral environment.
As an entrepreneur, how do you create space for balance in your life?
I view balance as something that evolves over time. I maintain it by setting boundaries, prioritizing rest, and being intentional about where I direct my time and energy.
Your journey stands out, especially during Women’s History Month. What do you think people connect with most?
I believe it’s the perspective I bring to dentistry—one that highlights voices and approaches that haven’t always been represented. It’s about expanding the narrative of what this field can look like.
Which women have influenced or inspired your path?
Issa Rae stands out for her ability to move across creative spaces while building community and telling impactful stories. I also admire Taraji P. Henson, who transformed her experience as a hairstylist into a successful haircare brand, showing how creative expertise can evolve into entrepreneurship.
Looking back, what moment or achievement feels most meaningful to you?
Building Dentrogen from concept to a fully realized brand is my proudest accomplishment. Doing so while staying grounded in science, education, and intentional design—and without compromising integrity—has been incredibly meaningful.
Dr. Abi’s approach signals a shift in how oral care is understood and experienced—moving beyond routine to something more intentional, informed, and empowering. Through Dentrogen, she continues to bridge science and self-care, creating a new standard for modern oral health.
