For Women’s History Month I will be sharing the stories that define and provide examples of women empowerment, uplifting stories of personal triumph and businesses that are inspiring and are making a difference for women. Women’s History Month is a declared month each year that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society.
I want to introduce you to Danielle Wooten – Woo Woo the Comedian.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Danielle Wooten made a spontaneous decision to start comedy right before her 36th birthday May 07, 2017. That day she hit the stage as Woo Woo the Comedian a nickname giving to her by her niece. She reached a goal of being a part of the Black Girls Giggle festival in New Orleans. Also, she’s been apart of the DC Comedy Festival, Baltimore Comedy Festival, and the Memphis Urban Festival. She won a comedy Competition that got her an all expense paid trip to Jamaica where she performed internationally. She opened up for the legendary Damon Wayans at the Baltimore Comedy Factory. She has done several skits, been on T.V., Fox Soul, and been hitting stages all up and down the east and west coast. Currently she is apart of a skit YouTube series similar to In Living Color or Madd TV called The Channel TV. Also, currently touring with 4 other dope female comediennes from Baltimore on the She-More Funny Tour and touring with internet sensation Darren Fleet.
Here is HERstory:
Comedy was an spontaneous decision that saved me. I made a lot of changes all in one year. I left a job of 15 years, left a verbally abusive relationship, and started comedy. Comedy gave me the self esteem, drive and self love I needed after all those changes. It’s been all up from there.

What does women empowerment mean to you?
Women empowerment means being authentically being you and confident as a women in this world.
What advice or words of inspiration would you like to share with someone?
My words of inspiration are simple LOVE YOURSELF! When you love yourself you and your brand will always be protected because you won’t settle for nothing less than the best.
What do you want your legacy to be?
I would like the legacy of Woo Woo to be known as an humble, talented, and a women with integrity.
What inspires you?
What inspires me is the confidence, determination, and drive I’ve gained since doing comedy. Comedy has changed me in all the best ways possible.
What kind of impact do you want to have on those around you?
The impact I want to have on people around me is that you can be in this business and still keep your integrity.
What does self care mean to you?
Self care to me is taking time out for myself, resetting, and not feeling guilty for it.
What obstacles have you overcome or hurdles did you personally face and how did you overcome them?
A hurdle I have overcome is being a quitter. I used to quit as soon as anything was too hard or sometimes even trying. My love for comedy changed that. You can’t be no quitter in the entertainment business. You will get more no’s than yes’s and more losses than wins. But, the wins are so great it’s worth it all.
What are the goals you most want to accomplish in your business and personally?
My goal as an stand-up comedy is to branch off to greater things in comedy like acting, radio, and eventually my own talk show. Eventually being a household name is the mission.
