For Women’s History Month I will be sharing the stories that define and provide examples of women empowerment, uplifting stories of personal triumph and businesses that are inspiring and are making a difference for women. Women’s History Month is a declared month each year that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society.

I want to introduce you to Elizabeth Davis, CEO.

Elegance. Sophistication. Luxury. When Elizabeth Davis’ name is spoken in any room, you can be assured that the conversation is next-level. Hailing from the near Southside of Chicago, IL., Elizabeth Davis is the Queen of Healthy Haircare. Her passion for beauty and business is unparalleled as she is the commander in chief of one the nations most valued haircare brands, Shedavi. With a Bachelor’s degree from Florida A&M University in Construction Engineering Technology, Elizabeth made her mark in the building industry by managing multi million-dollar construction projects for various well-known corporate clients. Although she is an engineer and project manager by education and work experience, she is most enthusiastic about Shedavi, which provides natural, botanically-based holistic hair, skin and nail products to women, men and children of all hair types globally. Elizabeth is a woman of faith. She attributes everything she has and everything she is to become to her reliance in a higher power. To Elizabeth, the source of her success stems from God. She believes that faith in action is the only way to level up and win.

Here is HERstory:

Elizabeth Davis left her career as a construction engineer to create the multimillion dollar hair-care empire, Shedavi. She designed the company to provide natural, botanically-based holistic hair, skin and nail products to women, men and children of all hair types around the world. Working as a project manager, Davis was constantly making hair remedies and finding the best methods for growing her hair long in her spare time (what does this have to do with working as a project manager?). Family and friends loved the products she concocted in her kitchen and she eventually decided to turn her passion into reality. She would start on Shedavi at 4am, work at her day job, then continue to burn the midnight oil. Davis continued working in construction while perfecting her products for a year before launching in 2016. After years of experimenting with natural remedies for beauty, Davis was able to share her passion for hair care and veganism with every sustainably packaged and carefully sourced ingredient. Fast forward to today, Shedavi focuses on helping customers create a wellness lifestyle that inspires simplicity, consistency and transformation from the inside out with high-quality products and communities such as The SheHive Facebook group

Her business is Shedavi, a plant-based hair care brand.

What does women empowerment mean to you?

Why empowerment needs being supported by society in those who are close to us those who give you the confidence that they have confidence in you to confidently walk in your own light. Women empowerment is also the internal motivation that you give yourself to remember to wear your own crown.

What advice or words of inspiration would you like to share with someone?

Continue to push your own agenda even when the world is pushing a different one. Be yourself. Be an individual. Be strong and go after the life that you want and claim the rights that you have to live the life that gives you freedom.

What do you want your legacy to be?

I want to be known as the woman who walked into self realization. And to also know that my life inspire people to do the same.

What inspires you?

My mother. She’s been an inspirational force in my life since I can remember. Her drive and resilience have helped mold me into the woman that I am today. She has taught me how to properly manage money, how to understand building credit, and much more. She encouraged me to be a logical thinker and find what really works. Her mindset alone is what truly help me build Shedavi.

What does self care mean to you?

Self-care is a part of my daily practice. Are use self care regimen to establish proper hair care for myself. It’s not just a brand it is how I live my life. For example here’s my regimen and how I incorporated product into it. I live in Atlanta which is humid so I moisturize with the moisturizer shampoo and conditioner weekly. I spend my time midweek co washing my hair to gently remove the build up in my hair and give them my hair that boost that it needs.

What are the goals you most want to accomplish in your business and personally?

In the next five years we’re hoping to expand our product line to more areas such as Skin Body beauty and wellness for consumers in our culture than walks of life. And as for myself, I see myself somewhere relaxing and enjoying my wealth and my hard work.

Did you have any key mentors or people who deeply influenced who you are, what you believe in and what you’re committed to in your work and life? Tell me about them.

I don’t have any specific mentors however I believe their mentors can be found anywhere. If I had to give a base mentor of course it will be my mother and she has instilled in me values and practices that has molded me into the woman that I am. But I have also found mentorship and books and people around me that have given me inspiration from things like what to do and even those who have showed me what not to do.

What’s next for you in your business/brand? What can readers look forward to from you?

Throughout the month of March, Shedavi will be hosting a 21 day healthiest hair challenge, Encouraging women everywhere to start a hair care regimen that will produce healthier and stronger appearing hair. As well, you’ll be able to purchase our products on Amazon by March 12th.
