4 Movies Every Entrepreneur Should Watch

en·tre·pre·neur

/ˌäntrəprəˈnər,ˌäntrəprəˈno͝o(ə)r/

noun

  1. a person who organizes and operates a business or more than one business, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.

Lately, the word has been thrown around for quite some time now and hustle culture has become the norm. The road to being a successful entrepreneur is not an easy nor glamorous task the majority of the time. As life outside of business continues to carry on, many who fall under the entrepreneur umbrella began to get weary along the journey. Here are 4 movies that entrepreneurs can watch at any point of their journey and find inspiration to carry on.

1. Self Made (2020)

This technically is a mini-series but worth watching. Self Made tells the story of Madam C J Walker’s early life and rise to be known as the first female self-made millionaire. A feat that was unheard of in the early 1900s.

The main takeaway is- Know and study your market, this will make you able to provide the best possible product for your customer’s needs.

2. Dolomite is My Name (2019)

I went into viewing Dolomite blind, seeing that I watched the original years ago so if anything I knew Murphy would make this version hilarious. And that he did. But he also provided inspiration on a level I never expected. Through all the tears from laughing, a renewed sense of ‘get back up and get to it’ in me.

The main takeaway- Never be afraid to bet on yourself, do the hard work needed behind the scenes, and pivot when necessary.

3. Ray (2004)

I debated on placing Ray on the list due to it focusing more on the music side of his career, but the money lessons are there and as loud as the keys being played. In a rare deal, he was one of the first artists to own all their Masters and build an impressive net worth of 75 million; that featured his music dealings, real estate, and other investments.

The main takeaway is- Always negotiate for your best interest and have a team around you that will watch out for you and your coins.

4. The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

Get ready to grab the tissues. This one is a tearjerker for sure but the lessons you can pull away are worth it. Tap into the life of Chris Gardner, a single dad that works his way through obstacles many wouldn’t have been able to. I can’t say too much or I would give away the movie so check out the takeaway below.

The main takeaway is- Never give up on yourself or your dream, no matter the obstacles you may be facing.

Hopefully, my top 4 movies to inspire and get refocused for entrepreneurs help you along your journey. My bonus tip without the movie, give yourself grace. Our journeys look different even if we are in the same field as another; our background work and trials are totally different from our neighbors.

The New Artificial Intelligence: Risk or Reward?

One of the most significant risks posed by AI is the potential for data breaches. AI systems rely on vast amounts of data to function, and if that data falls into the wrong hands, it can be used to steal sensitive information or launch targeted attacks. For example, a hacker could use AI to analyze a company’s social media accounts, email correspondence, and other publicly available information to identify potential targets for phishing attacks or other forms of social engineering. They could also use AI to analyze a company’s network traffic and identify vulnerabilities that could be exploited to gain access to sensitive data.
