She’s Pretty and Black Owned: Meet Megan Sylvester

Green Herbs & Juice is an all natural Herbal Tea and Juice Company that believes in healing yourself physically and mentally begins from the inside out. Many of the earliest civilizations believed that the key to healing yourself physically and spiritually began with use of herbs. Traditionally, Herbs would be used as medicine and detoxification and for everyday use against wrinkles, colds, infections, worms, purification and much more. In today’s fast-paced society, we tend to forget that taking care of ourselves is fundamental to living a long and healthy life. These mighty leaves and plants are now making a comeback in the 21st century as we as a society are becoming more aware of their benefits. Enjoy our herbs in teas, capsules, baked goods or smoothies.

All of our herbs are shipped to us straight from Jamaica or Africa, no drop shipper, no factory, no processing plant. They are packed by us not a machine. Our leaves still have the island smell and will need to be rinsed. We stand behind the quality of our herbs and look forward to being your herbal supplier.

What inspired the start of “Green Herbs Wellness Center”?

I began Green Herbs Wellness Center after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I started researching the many causes of the disease, and one of many had to do with gut health. This was also one of my first symptoms, as I had bloating and constipation before any MS symptoms. Looking further into this, I found out about Colon Hydrotherapy and how helpful it could have been for me if I had known about it earlier. I decided to go to school for colon hydrotherapy and then found out how it could be helpful for many conditions. I love being able to offer it to my clients because I truly believe it can be so beneficial.

What has been the biggest challenge of running a brand like “Green Herbs Wellness Center”?

One of the biggest challenges of running Green Herbs Wellness Center is marketing and advertising for our location. It’s really been trial and error with much of what we’ve done.

How does “Green Herbs Wellness Center” impact its local community?

I believe Green Herbs Wellness Center impacts the community by offering a health service that can improve many disorders. We also offer many natural products. Rooms are also available for rent for women starting their own holistic business.

Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?

I see my brand being a franchise in the next 3-5 years. I also will sell my location once it’s built up and travel doing public speaking about helping Black women put their autoimmune diseases in remission. I’m very passionate about helping my people learn more about how they can improve their health naturally.

What advice do you have for the next generation of entrepreneurs?

Always believe in yourself. If you can see it in your mind, you can make it happen! Also, have patience. Nothing happens overnight. It might seem like it on social media but, almost everything worthwhile takes time and effort.

What does being “Pretty and Black Owned” mean to you?

To me, Being Pretty and Black Owned describes a woman who takes care of herself physically, mentally and emotionally, while also having her own business. I would take this description as a compliment as keeping myself together while running a business is work in itself!
