What inspired your start in entrepreneurship?

I still remember the moment in High School when one of my art teachers invited a tile designer to speak with us and my mind was opened to the possibility that I could make a living off of creating tile or patterns. That seed inspired my decision to study Surface Pattern Design at Syracuse University and Central St. Martins in London, England and learned how to design everything from tile to carpet, wallcoverings, textiles, even dishes! From there, entrepreneurship was the logical next step so I could own my designs!

Whether the customer is buying for their home, a hotel, or their business they will be sure to find something they love.

What has been the highlight of your career thus far?

There are so many highlights, but one of the most memorable is when I launched my first collection on QVC. This collection called “Stay” by Stacy Garcia, included soft home furnishings inspired by travel and luxury hotels. Part of this opportunity included being on LIVE TV in front of 18 million households! That adrenaline was both nerve wracking and some of the most FUN I have experienced in my career. I got to meet Jonathan and Drew Scott, who are VERY tall in real life, and get pampered in hair and makeup. It was one of those moments that make you feel like a celebrity and make you realize that you are truly GROWING as you step outside of your comfort zone.

If you could tribute your success to any in your life who would it be?

I get this question often, and my answer is the same- there is no way I could attribute my success to just one person. As a professional licensor I live by the motto “Inspiration through Collaboration” the best ideas are often brought to pass by multiple people contributing. We have a village for a reason, we get pieces and truths from so many individuals. My parents instilled the truth that I can do something I LOVE for life, and they encouraged me to find my passion. I will always appreciate Martha Tillim, who took the time to teach me the basics such as how to greet a customer, how to introduce yourself and how to qualify them. I still use these skills everyday as I build my company. I have had so many mentors guiding my way it’s hard to name them all.

What message do you hope women take away from your platform?

The catalyst to change from being an employee to being my own boss was the pregnancy of my first son. When life seems hard and unknown, I believe there is always a solution to CREATE the life you dream about. I want to be known for creating growth and space for others to shine. Becoming an entrepreneur was a way I did that for my children so they had significant space in my life and so I was there to see them shine. It wasn’t always smooth, but by keeping the mentality that you can pivot and learn no matter life’s circumstances is something that has proven to lead me to GROWTH and success.

What is your go-to quote for motivation?

“Jump and build your wings on the way down.” This was a quote I found in a journal given to me by my best friend before I started my first company. The words became a mantra and I took that first leap. (Authority Magazine Feature)

What does being a woman making Herstory mean to you?

I love the words “Herstory”. Women, this is your story. We are the creators of our stories, we can find passion and something like creating patterns and make a living. We can be a mom and an entrepreneur. If entrepreneurship isn’t the life for you, that’s GREAT it’s your story. Your space is something you always have control over, find the things in life that will bring you joy. If there isn’t enough joy, add to or get rid of things that are detracting from it. It means a great deal that I had the courage in my 20s to make my leap. I am excited to continue being the author of my story and to help others in my space create the story they dream about.
