PWH: You are a serious urban fiction writer, how many books have you written?

AJ: I have written and published 44 urban fiction books and 2 Children’s books.

PWH: what is the inspiration behind your writings?

AJ: The inspiration behind my writing is my imagination, first and foremost. Secondly, it’s my will and want to tell a story. Take people away from their reality with a fictional reality.

PWH: Do you have a writing routine?

AJ: No, I’ve never had a routine. Whenever something comes to mind or something is speaking to me, I go ahead and write.

PWH: Have you been able to write during this Pandemic?

AJ: During this pandemic, I have but very little. Not due to what’s going on because I still work and live my life normal but due to other circumstances.

PWH: Do you have any upcoming projects?

AJ: I always have projects coming. My publishing team is doing a group project right now and I’m the first to release. My book is coming on 5/15. I also have a children’s book in the works at the moment. I should be debuting it very soon.

PWH: What advice do you have for an aspiring author?

AJ: Don’t let the fear of what others may think stop you. The point of joining this industry was because you wanted to write. And let that be the reason you survive this industry. Always remember to do your research. Everybody won’t be your friend. And don’t come into this industry expecting certain support. Focus on the ones who do support. Try to remain as positive as possible because the negativity can and will eat you alive. You will want to quit many times but don’t. And most importantly, write what you want. Don’t let anyone tell you what or how to write.
