“New Release: Jasmyn Bolden’s Honesty: Named for Purpose”

Jasmyn Crittendon-Bolden was born and raised in Detroit to an at the time single mother. She was raised in church from a small child and has Grandparents who are Pastors. Even as a child she felt a calling on her life. She began her dive into ministry in her early 20’s beginning as an praise and worship leader and then ventured out and created her own ministry for young women. After marriage and relocation to CA she took a step back for a while. That was until the birth of her first child Honesty. With that physical birth she also felt a spiritual birth, a desire to help both children and Mothers.

So she began a small Facebook group called “Mommies Who Pray!” which is geared to uplift and empower Mothers to seek God in all they do.

February of this year Jasmyn Released a book titled “Honesty: named for purpose” which was inspired by her own daughter. The book was created to help children learn about God and their purpose early on in their lives.  Jasmyn also just recently released a 9 Day Devotional and Journal titled “Mommy, Child Of A King”. She plans to continue to use her gift of writing as well as expand “Mommies Who Pray!”.

Jasmyn wants to continue to help women, mothers and children in any way God calls her. Rather that is in books, ministries or in giving. Her passion is to see women and families healthy and whole. And more importantly, sold out for God.

Tell us a little bit about your newest book “Honesty: Named For Purpose“ How did your daughter inspire you to write this piece?

I wrote a book titled “Honesty: Named For Purpose” I am a strong advocate for children to be taught about their faith early. This children’s book is to aid children to understand the importance of having a relationship with God as well as helping them understand their purpose. The book is named after my actual daughter who was inspired by her as well. Having her encouraged me to teach other children as I teach her.

What experiences have you encountered which sparked the idea to cater specifically to mothers and children?

There is something about creating life that changes you a bit. Knowing you have such a huge responsibility pushing you. The thing is so many children lack inspirations around them that guide them into their purpose so I hope to be a help for those children.

Where do you see yourself and your brand within the next 5-10 years?

In 5-10 years I hope that I have more children’s books published and on the shelves of major bookstores. I plan to keep expanding my ministry for women, mothers and children. I honestly just want to be where God wants me to be so wherever this walk leads me I will be happy there.

What impact would you like your book to leave on the future of our children?

My desire is that children will read this book and it will spark their interest to seek God. That alone is so powerful. Imagine a generation whose desire is to please God as early as reading age? That is world changing. I want children to lean on God and believe His word. I want to see a purpose driven group of children.

Jalisa Shaveh- Model Curvy Girl on New Reality Show “Thick House”

Jalisa Shaveh is on the rise and now competing on ‘The Shade Room’s newly produced reality series “Thick House”. This one is for my plus-sized queens! This show will shine a light on the voluptuous women and their black girl magic; think American Next Top Model but for melanated curvy girls.

Jalisa is not only staying busy by running her eyelash company in Panorama City, California but also spends her time as a volunteer at the nonprofit foundation “Kids In The Spotlight” and AFI school where she also volunteers her time as a makeup artist. To add to her list, Jalisa Shaveh has also modeled for Rydel, Karen T Fashion, Creator for Adore Me season campaigns, and now landed her new spot on “Thick House”.

The show premiered on Facebook Watch Sunday, May 16, 2021, showcasing the new models with flavor. This show is going to be spicy with celebrity appearances to be made by EJ King, Lizzo, and more! Be sure to tune in and support “Thick House” contestant Jalisa!

Jalisa Saveh gave me the inside scoop on how she has reached her new heights, will continue to keep soaring, and manages the stress of her responsibilities.

1. What is your background in the modeling/ fashion industry? How did you get started pursuing your dreams in modeling and being a business owner (selling mink lashes)

JALISA: My modeling career started back in 2015. I’ve walked in over 30 fashion shows, from Arkansas to Los Angeles and in between. I didn’t gain the confidence to model until my senior year in high school after witnessing models like Tocarra Jones, take the spotlight. My love for eyelashes runs deep and is inspired by my 5 younger sisters. I plan to grow my business and one day pass it on to them.

2. Who inspires you the most? How do they play a part in your success today?

JALISA: I would honestly say, I’m inspired by multiple virtuous women in my family. From their degrees, strong work ethic to leadership positions, I look up to the beautiful black women who made me who I am today. I know for a fact, I’ve been equipped for my future because of my elders (generational grace) and persistent prayer.

3. You’re involved in/volunteer with nonprofit organization Kids in the Spotlight, why that specific organization?

JALISA: I have compassion for the youth. I volunteer my services to a non-profit organization, Kids In The Spotlight. Kids In The Spotlight provides a 15-week filmmaking program to foster children throughout Southern California. These children are more than foster children, they are our future directors, writers and actors. I see my younger self in these children. They are my reminder to keep dreaming.

4. Representation and women empowerment are vital, especially in our current state, do you feel like competing in this new show will help you do that? In what manner? What do you hope to gain/ be recognized for competing in the new show “Thick House”?

JALISA: Women Empowerment is definitely more than a statement. After competing on Thick House, I hope the audience learns that collaboration is far more effective than competition. The cast and I discovered sisterhood and rooted each other on regardless of the competition. Women Empowerment is uplifting, congratulating and clapping for other women, even when it’s not your turn to shine. When one shines, we truly all shine. The show strengthened my enlightenment on women empowerment.

5. How do you manage day to day tasks when it may seem overwhelming now that you are booked and busy with modeling work, entrepreneurship, volunteering, etc.? How do you prioritize your mental health?

JALISA: Managing my day to day has strictly become day to day. I pride myself on focusing on smaller goals. What needs to be done today? How can today prepare me for tomorrow? Writing everything down! If I see it, it’s more clear. I feel like goals that are far out, seem to be most overwhelming. Keeping my priorities on today, allows me to ”stay on top of things” or be more organized which causes less stress.

6. How did this opportunity to do the show “Thick House” come about for you? Do you get nervous or doubtful when new opportunities arise? How do you get over that hump?

JALISA: This opportunity presented itself form my casting networks. When new opportunities come in my first thought is always, ”at least try.” Followed by ” If it’s for me, let it be.” I’m still overcoming my pre-stage fright, but it usually all goes away when I hit the stage. The best way to get over the doubt or fear is to pray about it, smile and tell yourself, ”I was made for this.” It all starts with self-belief.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

How to juggle family, business, and ministry with Timothy (Jr.) and Jackie Flemming

Timothy (Jr.) and Jackie Flemming are both well-established pastors, speakers, authors, and business owners.  They have been married over 14 years and have developed together over this time.  Co-Pastoring one of the largest churches within the Metro-Atlanta area as well as growing each of their businesses and careers over this period. The Duo both have thriving businesses, 3 children and 2 churches in which they pastor.  The Power Duo is currently teaching up and coming couples how to balance marriage, ministry, and family.

Rosie: Jackie on your website’s blog you mention “stop waiting for an opportunity and create one”  What kind of opportunities did you both create for yourselves that got you to where you are  today?

Jackie: The opportunities I created for myself was My own confidence and My own talk show.

Rosie: Timothy you wrote on your blog where you end up tomorrow is the result of the sacrifices you made today. What kind of sacrifices did you guys have to make to get your business off the ground?

Timothy: My wife and I made some really big sacrifices—and we came a long way since the days of  searching through and under couches and under a car seat for loose change to buy gas and  groceries with. We had those type of struggles in the midst of attempting to build our  businesses. For one, my wife followed God’s will for her life and left a good paying job as a  Section 8 Leasing Agent and launched out into her ministry and business. We knew it was going  to be a challenge, especially in the beginning, but we also knew that anything God called us to  would be more than worth it in the end. I remember telling my wife at that time, “Baby, go ahead  and leave that job and obey God. I got you.” And she did. We had to downsize our living in order  to pour finances into our dreams. We spent thousands of dollars to sit under business mentors  and success coaches. I remember using my income tax money to buy a camcorder and some  studio lights and a green screen, and designing my wife’s Jackie Flemming Show backdrop as  well as buying a small set (high chairs and a glass table). We’d put those shows together, using  our creativity. We didn’t have much then, but we operated in the spirit of excellence to the point  where people thought we were filming in a professional studio with top-notch studio equipment.  No, it was just me and my camera and a laptop. We just launched out there, writing books,  creating video content, working social media, and staying consistent. And then, in what may  seem like an “all of a sudden” moment, our lives shifted and we began to see the fruit of our  labor…nearly a decade later. But I will never forget those days of sacrificing; the principle of  sacrificing (or sowing according to the Bible) is how we live our lives to this day.

Jackie: Our time. Our finances. Long nights working.

Rosie: How do you maintain family life and running a business, while also being involved in so many  different business endeavors? Do you guys coordinate schedules or have specific times set  apart for one another/family?

Timothy: I can remember back when my wife and I started having children. I’d been in ministry since  1995, at the age of 16. I grew up as a preacher’s kid. I know the struggle of having to share your  father with an entire congregation. But when my kids were little, I was so busy with ministry I  didn’t have time for anything else. I was teaching the men’s ministry on Mondays at 6 pm,  Outreach Witnessing Class on Tuesdays at 7 pm, attending Midweek Bible Study on  Wednesdays at 7 pm (and teaching some Wednesdays), co-facilitating 5 am Prayer on Wednesday mornings with my wife, teaching some Thursdays during our Thursday Night Bible  Study at 7 pm at our other location, and teaching Bible Study every Friday at 7 pm, teaching  some of our Leadership Trainings on Saturday mornings, and then preaching every Sunday at  one of our two locations.

On top of this, I was working full time at the church every day from 9  am until 6 pm. Many days, I didn’t see the light of day. Literally! But my dad sat me down and  gave me some words of wisdom. He warned me not to miss those critical years in the lives of  our children. I was tired too and wanted to cut back on a few of my ministry obligations. So we  agreed. I gave up several of my Bible Studies and only stuck with the Monday Night Men’s  Ministry. I’d teach only once a month on Tuesdays for the Outreach Training. Other than that, I  refused to spend all of my time in the church and miss precious moments with my family. At that  time, my wife and I established a rule in our household: Every Wednesday, we had to go  somewhere as a family. Fernbank. The Georgia Aquarium. The movies. Centennial Park  downtown. Piedmont Park. The kid’s museum downtown. Atlantic Station. Weekly, we were  doing some activity as a family. During the summer months, it was our routine to attend the  Screen-On-The-Green at Centennial Park (where they played classic movies on a jumbo screen  in the park). Later, we incorporated (during the summer months) a new tradition: the drive-in  theater. We’d stop by The Cook Out and load up on hamburgers, fries, and soft drinks and then  head to Starlight Drive-In almost every weekend to catch a movie. My wife and I would schedule  date nights and drop the kids off at my parents’ house. We realized the importance of spending  time together as a family. Now, my kids are teenagers (except for my youngest), and they prefer  to hang out with their friends at the mall rather than hang with mom and dad. But we still make  them come along with us whenever we’re doing some family activity like riding bikes on a bike  trail.

Jackie: Set aside time to rest and focus on our family. I made time and I had to teach myself  how to say No.

Rosie: Being followers of Christ and leading a kingdom-based empire does not negate you from  temptations or struggles, if anything it’s more of a struggle! Do you find it difficult maneuvering  through temptations/distractions, and how do you guys combat the temptations/distractions as  they present themselves? (The women/men, money, fame, power, being in old environments  where you once had to recover from)

Timothy: Temptation is inevitable, but the thing that makes “sin” and “wrong” so appealing is when you  sow the wrong seeds into your heart. When you lie to yourself and justify sin in your mind, that’s  when that sin will gain more weight in your heart—and when the opportunity to fulfill that sinful  desire presents itself, you’ll already find yourself leaning in its direction. So the key to defeating  the natural proclivities of the sin nature is to sow the right seeds into your heart. By that, I mean  you must be mindful of what you tell yourself, become conscious of your internal wounds (some  people fall into adulterous affairs because they claim the other person is more fun and exciting  than their spouse, when in reality they were just wounded from the beginning and were very  susceptible to the whims of an outside charmer who could easily pick up on their insecurity.

As a  child, if you never received love and affection, that wound of isolation and abandonment will cause you to pursue fulfillment in the arms of strangers, even at the expense of destroying your  life and family), and always think about the end result at the beginning. Not going to lie: I get  tempted like any other man. I’ve had several temptations come my way. But at the end of the  day, I always asked myself a few questions such as, “Can I really see myself spending the rest  of my life with this person, or do I just want sex? After the sex is finished, what’s next? Is there  even a real future with this? What would I be giving up if I were to fall into sin with this person?”  Learning how to look past the moment and ponder the future ramifications of sexual sin has  been a practice of mine for the longest. Also, having a strong sense of self-esteem is important.  For example, if you believe another person can “save” you by hoisting you out of your state of  depression, loneliness, and isolation and providing you with a life of fun, adventure, excitement,  and fulfillment, then you’re already on the wrong track. If another person can become your  savior, they can also become your enslaver. If they can rescue you, they can also imprison you.  If they become your hope, your world, they can also become the source of your misery and the  antagonists in your story. No one is worth losing your dignity and soul over. Furthermore, no one  should have that much power in your life. You have to gain a profound appreciation for yourself  and create a set of habits and practices that bring you joy and happiness. Discover who you are  and what you are called to do, as well as what you enjoy. We usually sum this up by saying,  “Learn how to love yourself.” Treat yourself. Get to know you.

Lastly, regarding the other temptations such as power, fame, and old environments,  having an understanding of my God-given purpose while reminding myself of from Whom all of  my blessings come keeps me grounded. I’ve never been very materialistic to begin with, but I’m  not different than any other man. I can get swept up into “things” too, which is why I constantly  look back at my past struggles, constantly keep my eyes on my current weaknesses and  limitations (and we all have them), and focus on my divine mission to avoid becoming  sidetracked. Because at the end of the day, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world  and lose his soul?”

Jackie: I stay away and avoid temptation when it comes my way. Pray for strength to overcome.

Rosie: Jackie you left your corporate job to follow the calling of God, how did you know it was his  will? Were you plagued by self-doubt? How did you overcome that?

Jackie: I spent a lot of time in prayer so God had already been speaking to me about it. He  gave me different signs to follow him but he did send different prophets my way to confirm to me  the same thing. When he first spoke this to me I was upset because this is something that I  didn’t want to do but after fighting with God for some time I finally said yes to him and it opened  up great doors for me because I started doing God’s will instead of my will. That’s when my life  changed.

Rosie: Timothy, you mention supernatural events made you surrender to God’s purpose and  ministry. How did you know the supernatural events were specifically calling you to ministry and  not something else? How was that transition from sports to ministry like?

Timothy: Okay, I didn’t want to be a preacher. I specifically remember telling my dad to his face, “I will  never become a preacher. You and Aric (my oldest brother) can have that.” Fast forward a  couple of years and I found myself in the pulpit preaching. As the old saying goes: “If you want  to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”

I had my eyes on gold—Olympic gold. I wanted to become a gold medalist in boxing,  and I was working my behind off to get there. I’d just won the Golden Gloves Regionals in South  Carolina at this time (in 1995) and was on my way to the Nationals in Michigan. Before going to  Michigan, I took a trip to the Holy Land (Israel) with my church. I did expect this to happen, but  while there I fell in love with that place and developed a sudden insatiable appetite for the Bible.  Walking the landscape of the Holy Land made me want to read the stories in the Bible even  more. During that time, God was cultivating within me a deeper passion and longing for His  presence. I became interested in God, not ministry. That trip changed me. When I got home, the  only thing I wanted to do was watch the movie “King of Kings”. Fast forward. I’m in Michigan, at  the Golden Gloves Nationals, and God was still showing His hand in my life. My coach was a  muslim named Mohammed. Somehow, someway, upon arrival, the staff got our information  mixed up and had me booked to share rooms with another coach, a man I’d never met before.  Turns out, that other coach was a Christian minister. Every morning, he’d get up and start the  day off with prayer and Bible Study. I’d participate. God was still dealing with me at this time just  as He had been in Israel, only now the fire in my soul for His presence outweighed—and even  conflicted with—the desire in my soul for Olympic gold. It was the tale of two passions. At first, I  thought it was the devil trying to distract me from my goal, but it turned out to be God trying to  get my attention and usher me into His will. I couldn’t drum up the same amount of passion and  enthusiasm for the boxing ring as I once had, and I ended up falling out of love with boxing and  into love with God. From there, He showed me in a clear vision that I was called to the ministry. I  had a vision of myself preaching in my dad’s pulpit after praying one evening. A month later, I  was giving my trial sermon. There was no ambiguity there. I even remember what I had on in  the vision and the hand motions I was making while thundering into the microphone—that vision  was that clear. I’d always known that was God’s will, but I didn’t want it for all of the wrong  reasons. I just didn’t want the pressure that the ministry brings, but I’ve since come to  understand that people will be people no matter where you go or what industry you get into. So  learn to deal with and love people and be ready to forgive at a moment’s notice. Remember who  your true employer is: God, not the people. Focus on pleasing Him and everything will be  alright.

Transitioning into the ministry was easy because I understood that God’s plans for us  are always greater than our plans for ourselves. So I had an even greater sense of anticipation  of greatness ahead of me. However, what I didn’t count on was the fact that God would begin to  pull out of me other gifts and talents I didn’t know I had—and some I forgot I had. Those gifts  are what led me to where I am today, owning my own business, creating, designing, producing,  writing, publishing, and more. And I’m still having visions of greater up the road.

Rosie: Being in unknown seasons and walking by faith can be frustrating even as a believer, and as  you state Jackie “God doesn’t give you all the answers upfront” So, how do you guys encourage  others to walk by faith when advocating to non-believers?

Jackie: Put your trust in God even when you don’t understand.

Rosie: What is something you guys do to keep the spark alive and keep the momentum going in  your marriage and not get lost in the sauce by all the work/ childcare and keeping up with  ministry?

Jackie: Date nights are always helpful. Vacations with just the two of us are also a great way to  decompress and unwind and remember the love that brought the two of us together. For those  tough seasons (and they will come, especially after 18 years of marriage), having accountability  partners and even engaging in couple’s counseling is a must. For me, a fun activity I like to do is  look at old pictures of the two of us, back when we were dating, when I was skinnier than a  toothpick. You have to be proactive about your marriage and choose to keep the love going,  realizing that unforgiveness will smother the flames quicker than ash and that a marriage will not  sustain itself any more than a car will change its own oil and replenish its own gas. Maintenance  is the key; it’s the work you signed up for. But when you look at what you and your partner have  built and are able to build together, your realize that the work of sacrifice is worth it.

“How San Antonio Native Kendra Hill went from poverty to earning 1 million in revenue”

The 33-year-old CEO of Kendra, Scale My Business – a consulting firm based in Atlanta that specializes in supporting creators and multimillion-dollar businesses in continuing to grow in revenue, people reached, and brand visibility – has reinvented the management consultant model. As a result of this, her presence has grown across the globe as clients from around the world reach out to utilize her services.  Notable clients include Marriott International, JustFab, The UNCF, Trojan, and Revel Casino Hotel.

As a thought leader in brand and business management, Kendra has taken the consulting world by storm, and many people are asking the same question. “How?”.  Kendra has easy, affordable and extremely applicable ways of showing the novice entrepreneur to CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies just how to increase their profits in a small amount of time.

We know there are plenty of consultants out there, but what sets Kendra apart is her non-traditional approach to everything she does. With almost a decade of entrepreneurial experience, she has learned that the key to generating revenue is treating each client’s business as her own in an incredibly unique way.

  • In your own words, could you please describe your business and the services you offer?
  • Kendra, Scale My Business is a business management consulting firm that helps companies and creatives alike grow in revenue, people reached, and brand visibility. We literally help businesses scale and grow by any means necessary. For some, it’s handling their marketing and digital presence. Some need HR support. Others need full organizational overhauls. We also take a holistic approach when working with our clients as we care deeply about the person behind the brand.

Here is a comprehensive list of our services: Business Development, Organizational Management, Leadership Coaching, Marketing, Digital, YouTube Consulting, Brand Management, DEI Consulting, HR/Talent Acquisition, and Strategic Planning.
  • How did your business venture come about? explain a little bit of your journey from beginning to now and increasing revenue?
  • I’ve been an entrepreneur for 10 years now. At my core, I have always wanted to improve the lives of those around me. I was actually preparing to run for city council in my hometown when I heard God loud and clear. My campaign slogan, “I Am San Antonio” was actually supposed to be the name of my first business. Instead of filing to run for office, I filed my LLC and launched my business. We primarily did brand management for small businesses and churches ultimately helping leaders get visible online.

After running that business for 6 years, I sold it and became a fashion stylist. I successfully styled a few Christian celebrities, ran a magazine about modest fashion, and styled monthly campaigns for JustFab, but I knew that I was running from my purpose.  Through an act of God, I ended back on the consulting path but in a whole new way – God’s way. I started Kendra, Scale My Business on January 5, 2020, and less than 7 months later, we hit a million dollars in revenue.
  • How do you believe God prepared you for where you are today? What are some trials and experiences you had to endure that really set you up for your purpose?
  • Whew! This is a loaded question. I feel like every experience I have had, both good and bad, have prepared me for where I am now. I’m reminded of Romans 8:28 where it says that “all things work together for the good of them who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.” Every trial has been for HIS purpose – not mine.

I’ve had a bunch of jobs from working for the U.S. House of Representatives to UNCF to Google to the San Antonio Spurs and each of those positions and environments taught me vital lessons. When I worked for Congress, I really got to understand the power of relationship as the Members of Congress need their peers to get on board in order to get a bill on the House floor. At UNCF, I learned how to really multitask as I worked in two very different departments doing a number of different jobs. Google gave me the skills to lead a diverse team in accomplishing a plethora of goals all at once. Working at the Spurs taught me how to leverage my influence. These are all skills that I use daily in my own team and with clients and their staff.

I’ve also had my fair share of trials from childhood molestation and rape to heartbreak, disappointment, abandonment, and neglect. I was previously engaged to an undercover drug addict. I’ve pastored churches and battled depression. Every encounter and experience has challenged me to become more patient and compassionate with others while becoming resilient myself. Honestly, I’ve lived 12 lives. Each mountain and valley experience has given me the confidence to unapologetically pursue God and exchange my will for His will daily.
  • What is your primary way of attracting new clientele and keeping open streams of income to your business?
  • Real rap, business just comes to me. It’s VERY rare that I pitch to prospects at this point. In the last year of my business, I’ve only cold pitched two clients (and closed them both). I really attract customers by being consistently authentic on social media and doing exceptional work for my current clients. Being real with my audience and making myself available to help them has been a core asset to my success.
  • How do you prioritize time spent in your business and time spent in your personal life? How are you able to juggle it all now that your business has grown tremendously?
  • This is something that I have literally just started learning. Even being a decade into entrepreneurship, I still have some internal battles about work-life balance. One of the things I started doing at the beginning of 2021 was shifting my schedule to accommodate meetings Tuesdays-Thursdays only.  This allows me to either have 4-day weekends every week or at least be able to take weekends off because I have Mondays and Fridays as administrative buffers.

Growth has actually made balancing a lot easier. Having a team that helps me execute internal and external projects makes it easy for me to walk away from the business at the end of the day. Also, growth has taught me to value the vision. I used to check in with God at the beginning of the year to map out goals for the year. Now, I’m able to take time and really tap into the vision weekly. It has helped us to be consistent in growth and pivot when necessary.
  • Do you believe with your current success is it easier or harder to say “no”?
  • Oh, it’s SO easy to say “no” now! lol I was never a people pleaser. I only took on a ton of projects for financial reasons. Now that I know and charge my worth, it’s easy to only accept clients and projects that are totally aligned with my moral compass and our company’s core values.
  • What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs trying to generate revenue quickly, efficiently, and successfully?
  • If you’re trying to scale quickly, you need three things: 1) clarity on your niche, services, and pricing; 2) a solid digital presence; and, 3) systems and automations in place. Without knowing who you will serve, what you will do, and what it will cost a client, you’re practically a lost cause. If you get those three things in place, you can outsource work or hire a team. Trust me when I say that the right people in the right seats at your table are vital to your rapid success.
  • Fun question: Where is your ideal/dream place to travel and what is stopping you from picking up and going right now?
  • I’ve traveled extensively as I have clients all over the world, but I dream of visiting Santorini, Greece. What’s stopping me?!? Covid. Periodt.

Pretty and Oh So Ambitious: Francesca Ellana

Francesca Ellana is a former Miss Northern Virginia Teen USA and Miss Teen Icon winner who began competing in beauty pageants which launched her career followed by red carpet hosting. She has interviewed celebrities such as Jimmy Kimmel, John Stamos, Terry Crews, Meagan Good, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart and many more. She is the owner and creator of Pop Fuzion TV; a media company catered towards millennials.

Pop Fuzion TV encompasses two 30-minute talk shows which are airing weekly on 8 cable channels, a red-carpet hosting academy, video production services and a weekly podcast.

The Woodbridge, Virginia native was inspired to start the talk show because she was exhausted in seeing shows that focus on bashing celebrities focusing on all the negative aspects of their lives. She used her platform to promote positivity and inspire others to spread social good. In the next 5 years Francesca Ellana envisions the show being the number one positive nationally syndicated talk show and blog site for good news reporting and all things pop culture.

To promote philanthropy and the positive image of others, what made you decide to turn to hosting as opposed to other types of journalism/interviewing?

Growing up I have always had that curious side of me that naturally wanted to know what people were doing and why they were doing it. For as far as I can remember, I would walk around the house as a child with a paper towel holder (my fake microphone) and would interview my mom, cousins and whoever came to visit. It was like second nature to me. That along with doing pageantry and always being on stage, on-camera hosting was the perfect combination of my love and skillset.

Gossip/drama sells! With your current trends, do you believe you feel it has been difficult gaining new supporters over time on your platform, or do you believe you have had a steady rise and people also want to see more good than the bad?

It is extremely hard gaining followers when reporting on good news topics. That is one of the reasons why we fuse it with entertainment and positive celebrity news, so that we can build a strong audience. However, I truly believe it is not impossible as long as we remain consistent within our brand and mission. There is absolutely a niche and core following for every type of topic these days.

How do you separate your own beliefs and ideas/images of others you may interview despite negative portrayals in the media? Do you avoid those interviews? Or do you take all opportunities and focus more on the contributions the individual has made?

It truly depends on the severity of the negativity. If it is something we don’t feel good about covering, we definitely avoid that situation. However, there have been individuals who we have interviewed, and did just that, by covering the positive qualities and aspects of them and their careers. Aside from celebrity good news, we also like to cover topics that are happening monthly such as lupus month, mental health awareness month and more. It is always fun and informative when adding those topics in the mix. Popfuzion TV is the fusion of entertainment and positive news. We recognize, cultivate and honor celebrities, charitable organizations and leaders who are making a lasting, positive change in the world.

Do you provide ways or also encourage patrons who tune in to your show to also give back?

Yes absolutely. We do this a lot through social media. We ask community driven questions and ask our followers to leave insightful comments in hopes that their insight will help others. Whenever we also interview charities, we provide links and resources for our viewers in the event that they are in need of that specific resource or in hopes that it will lead them to the resource that they are looking for.

What is the biggest difference from pageant life to now hosting on the online blog/ video networking? Do you miss pageant life? Are you satisfied with the change you made?

I miss competing in beauty pageants so much. Pageants taught me the skillset of interviewing, fitness (self image) and community service. These are 3 tools that I have taken with me throughout life and my entire career. There are so many similarities when it comes to pageantry and hosting. Both careers are extremely competitive and you truly have to look and be the part. Both careers push you to be your best. The interview portion of pageantry really teaches you how to be yourself and speak your organic truth, similar to being a television personality/host where you are yourself and interviewing people from all walks of life, giving off a natural conversation while making it engaging for an audience. Although I do miss pageantry, I am extremely fulfilled with the change I made into a hosting career and running Popfuzion TV with its online blog and television show. I love producing episodes of Popfuzion and creating impactful stories that I hope are changing the entertainment industry and people’s lives.

How important is networking in your line of business and to your brand? What networking/marketing tips do you apply to your day-to-day?

This industry is all about your network. The phrase, your network is your net worth truly applies. It is so much easier to build a relationship with someone and be able to email them and get a response, verses sending a blind email and getting caught up in all of the other emails. When you network and get to know people, people begin to respect you and will go to you directly versus you having to go to them. There is nothing like building a strong reputable and trustworthy brand. It is so hard to build a good reputation and even harder to clean up your reputation if something goes wrong. Day to day I try to attend as many red carpets (before Covid-19) and networking industry events just to get my name out there and so that people can attach a face to the brand.

“If you could be any age, what age would you be and why?”

If I could be any age, honestly it would be just any age when my mom was alive. My mom was my biggest supporter, my best friend and role model. I miss her dearly and would go back in time just to spend more moments with her. She is my angel. Love you mom!!

Set Your Standards-Make Yourself A Priority

In life it’s all about balance. The good versus bad. Finding the perfect amount of play versus work. We juggle so many tasks at once and try to be present for others, often we forget to put ourselves first and check in with who matters most: YOU. You cannot pour from an empty cup, yet time and time again we are tirelessly pouring into others while giving ourselves bottom of the cup backwash. If you’re anything like me, it’s difficult to say no. Especially when your fulfillment comes from helping others, it can be hard to think about yourself first without feeling a little selfish. At the end of the day, no one is going to look out for you better than yourself and people are going to keep taking what you’re giving! Try to find the perfect balance, and remember you are Number 1, so act like it!

Being there for everyone but you only leads to burn out and frustration, and you simply end up in a negative mindset, thinking you help so many others but none is there to help you. Instead of setting those boundaries or asking for the help you need, you neglect your own personal feelings and place that burden onto others. It’s time to put that pride aside and recognize you cannot do it all, and rest is necessary. Resting is essential and without it, you are not performing at your optimal potential.

Begin practicing the selfless act of setting aside time for yourself. It all starts with discipline, which is the key to balance. Practice makes perfect, and you may struggle to get the hang of it at first, but when you keep trying at the goals you set for yourself you’ll get better at achieving them.

Allow your mind to be your motivation and not your devastation; afterall, it all starts in the mind. You are your priority so check in with yourself first before agreeing to something. Ensure that you are setting time aside every day to take a moment and breathe.

To my entrepreneurs and moms and busy bees, who believe there is just not enough hours in the day, you’d be surprised how much you can attain when you just step outside of your comfort zone and schedule that time away for a moment and be still with just you and your presence. Honor yourself by doing something simple and kind for yourself throughout your day; it makes a great difference.

You are a representation and reflection of your life and you are only as strong as your mindset, so begin framing that to yourself first and going back to oneself before giving to others and you will see just how much more you can give when you are no longer pouring from an empty cup.

PWH Features Black Entrepreneurs- Sensei Saysss INC.

Sensei Saysss, get in line, it is book reading time!

Summertime is upon us, school is letting out, and trying to keep children engaged for the summer may be one of the biggest struggles for a parent. During the offseason, it is important to keep children engaged, otherwise, boredom leads to mischief. As many of us have experienced, working from home and taking care of the kids simultaneously is a daring task in itself, but this summer allow Sensei Saysss INC. to assist in taking the load off.

Akira is the founder and owner of Sensei Saysss INC, which is a program that was started to aid mothers to encourage their children on the importance of reading and providing the resources needed to do so.

“The average low budget household doesn’t think about providing a continuous supply of books to their children which is where Sensei Saysss INC. comes in. We will help bring the library to your home.”

As a mother of 6 (3 stepchildren) Akira wishes to set an example and be a role model and leader to her children. Starting out as a straight-A student and an avid reader as a child, the foundation she instilled for herself set her on the path to wanting to give back to others. “I was blessed enough to have a surplus of books donated to me through my mothers’ job that fueled my love for reading.”

Being a mother of her own, Akira now understands how important books are to children especially now that the internet and 24/7 exposure to the media and various entertainers infiltrate their minds and generates a variety of societal pressures. Her solution to the problem was to start this organization.

“We are going to have continuous book clubs for children and adult women. The book clubs will help engage those involved in the power of literature; something being taken for granted lately in our society.”

Being a one-man show isn’t easy and I commend Akira for starting such a great program! If you are interested in getting to know more about her brand or how to sign up to be a part of the movement, visit seseisaysss.com.

We are looking for physical and monetary donations as books do cost, along with shipping our products. Contact and ways to donate are on seseisaysss.com.”

Sensei Saysss INC provides book bundles to mothers and children in need via scholarships, but those who are not in need of funding are able to support by purchasing a book bundle. Simply include the description of genres for your desired child, and she caters the book bundle to your request.

Also upcoming, Sensei Saysss will be launching a book club for children THIS summer! She plans to provide an interactive and virtual experience for children. Interested parties are able to RSVP for this book club with their child’s information also available on her website.

Stay tuned for all the amazing things this incorporation is doing in the black community, and continue supporting black-owned businesses and black entrepreneurs. Hats off to Sensei Saysss!

Sometimes you wish you had a personal assistant or whole team behind you to aid with these tasks, but it’s okay to start small. Take some stress and tasks off your to do lists by opting for FREE online tools that work for you.

I recommend checking out a few online tools that have been found helpful in showcasing your growing your business:

Not only are you able to create your own designs with their easy to use templates, but you are able to download and share them directly onto your platforms. The best part, it’s free!

Disclaimer: Canva does offer a PRO option that allows access to more images and templates, but just starting out, the free version is more than enough! Slow and steady wins the race.

Mailchimp– Email blasts are a great way to market your business and stay connected to your clientele. Mailchimp offers email campaign templates which can be filled out and formatted; it’s easy to use! Mailchimp also offers formatted contact forms and subscription boxes that you’re able to place on your website or send out, in which clients are able to input their information into the form. Once filled out, that information auto populates on your Mailchimp platform. With that information, you are able to send out the email campaigns you created to each client on your contact list.

Disclaimer: There is a contact limit when first starting out, so as your business grows to over 2,000 contacts, Mailchimp recommends upgrading to their paid subscription platform, which provides more services to you. For start up companies, I believe Mailchimp’s free mail campaign access is a great start.

Hootsuite– Social media marketing is one of the biggest and most effective ways of bringing awareness to your brand. Hootsuite is like having a social media manager right at your fingertips. With the free version, you are able to link up to 3 social media accounts and schedule social media posts onto the 3 platforms of your choice. It’s fast, efficient, and you don’t have to constantly remember to get on your phone and post on each domain. Disclaimer: Streamyard does place their logo onto your videos, which you can pay to remove and replace with your own. Also opting for their paid version allows you to connect with more participants in a video call and record the live streaming, so depending on your use or need there is room for more with their paid options but of course, for starters Streamyards free version is quite useful.

Alignable– Network Network Network! Alignable is a website and a mobile phone app that allows you to connect with small businesses in your area. It provides you exposure to other small businesses where you are able to connect and offer services to one another. Pretty Women Hustle features Jazz Anderson – Women Empowerment Month

In the words of Beyonce, who runs the world? Girls! Women are on the rise and taking over the entertainment industry. Women are finally taking on a dominating role in the rap game and making their presence known and I am here for the girl power.

I had the pleasure of sitting down and speaking with reality tv personality, artist, rapper, entertainer, and co-host Jazz Anderson as we spoke about her rise as a female artist.

Anderson let me know that women are turning up and standing out in the entertainment industry now more than ever before. Women are changing the narrative of the well known male dominated industry and are coming out on top. With so many successful female rappers before her, Anderson is paving her own path and well on her way to stand alongside noteworthy artists. Previously seen on the hit tv series Basketball Wives, she has since then been featured on BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher, released her previous project Separation Anxiety and has an upcoming project titled The Experiment. Jazz Anderson is also co-host on Fox Souls The Mix, a talk show created for us by us alongside Romeo Miller, Zonnique Pullins, Jamie DuBose, and Anton Peeples.

Jazz Anderson is emerging from her shell and channeling all of her grown and sexy femine energy into her latest project, The Experiment. This album showcases more of her dominant and outspoken side, as opposed to her first project Separation Anxiety, where she focused more on her pen game and lyrics. Now, do not be mistaken, Jazz Anderson is still the same talented lyricists, but she is stepping into her light and offering a more playful lighthearted carefree vibe onto this newest release, projected to be out by late May early June; just in time for hot girl summer.

Ever since 14/15 Jazz mentioned she has loved music and hip hop. Growing up listening to albums like Kanye West College Dropout and Miseducation of Lauryn Hill influenced her love for hip hop. She stated she enjoys rap, music, literature/poetry, and the art of putting an image to a story.

“When you put words to a beat, you’re a rapper; I’ve always loved writing, so I applied it to hop hop.”

Giving all her success to God, without Him she would have not been granted access to some of the many opportunities she’s had. She is fortunate and will continue working hard and growing her fan base. It is important to see black women on the rise in the entertainment industry and Jazz is glad to be a part of the women on the rise and to be a role model to those who may be looking up to her and her journey.

I asked Jazz what advice she would have to those who may be looking up to her and her advice for other women in the entertainment industry, and she noted a great gem:

When you come to the game, change what is accepted, but dont change to be accepted”

*Snaps fingers* Preach sister!

On a playful note, I asked Jazz if she could only have 3 apps on her phone what would they be, in which she responded, her notes app, text messages, and Instagram! Despite my shade questioning all of Instagram’s updates and algorithm changes, Instagram shows Jazz love so that is her go to!  She’s been rocking with IG since the beginning so she’s not switching it up.

It was a pleasure speaking with Jazz, her lovable spirit and infectious smile was quite welcoming. Be sure to keep up with all of the great things Jazz has in store and stay connected via Instagram @JazzAnderson. Also tune into FoxSouls The Mix airing every Tuesday 7pm Pacific/ 10pm Eastern and be on the lookout for Jazz Anderson’s latest project  The Experiment set to release late May early June.

Black Love & Partnership with Dr. CaSay Vaughn and DJ Jay Claxton

I had the pleasure of sitting down and speaking with DJ Jay Claxton and his fiance Dr. Casay Vaughn as they spoke on business, love, and partnership. The saying goes, if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life, and DJ Jay and Dr. Casay are the epitome of that. Taking the business and entertainment world by storm, collaborating his fun and social personality with her producing and business skills, they make an exceptional duo.

It is effortless to have a partnership when each person enjoys the role that they play for one another. DJ Jay voiced that he would rather kiss babies, shake hands and entertain on the scene while Dr. Casay prefers the behind the scenes work with managing and producing.

Their relationship started off as business and working together. DJ Jay felt he needed help to get his brand to the next level, then heaven-sent Dr. Casay to the rescue. DJ Jay recalled the memory when he approached Dr. Casay about taking his business to the next level. Dr. Casay was all fire and personality, talkin’ bout some “Are you ready for me to be all up and personal and up in your grill so I can help you?” DJ Jay dutifully agreed, thus beginning their story with one another.

“It wasn’t hard because he already had the talent” Dr. Casay gushed when I asked about the methods to DJ Jay’s continued success. “There wasn’t anything that needed to be done besides the producing work, he had the ideas.”

Both DJ Jay and Dr. Cashay agreed that making the transition from business to love and partnership was seamless. They were friends first, and it was easy to understand and communicate with one another. I asked if there was a need to set up boundaries or separate between work and play, but they both said no. There was no need to set any concrete boundaries because they already formed the bond, they communicated well with one another. Whether at work or home, they are the perfect pair for each other. It’s fate how this match was made in heaven.

The two decided to take their love and business and showcase to the world that love does conquer all. With their strong foundation in love and friendship, they are able to maneuver the entertainment world. The couple wears many hats as they are involved in giving back to the community and providing food for thought to those who are watching. They stated using their platform and being fortunate to give back, help, motivate, and encourage others is what it’s all about.

They are truly an inspiration to the younger generations like myself, to keep grinding. “Dont let the facade of social media make you feel like you are not where you need to be” DJ Jay mentored. He let me know that oftentimes we as a society let the imagery of social media get us down on our luck and make us feel inadequate but we are enough! Just keep grinding and feeding into your craft.

Now even though they seem to have it all together, DJ Jay mentioned that there are challenges when it comes to the entertainment world. It took a lot of work to get to where they are today. DJ Jay stated he battles with MS, and has overcome obstacles of life such as failed relationships, financial woes, life highs, and lows. He said those experiences humbled him, and he learned a lot of lessons, but ultimately they all brought him to where he is today.

What is for you will always be for you and never leave you, and destiny brought these two love birds together for sure. Dr. Casay gushed and mused over DJ Jay’s talents as an artist and being in his DJ element. In the presence of the two, you can sense the genuine love and only applaud them for their time and outlook on life.

Before signing off, I asked them for some advice for couple-preneurs tackling the business world together in which Dr. Casay stated some key tips: Having a strong foundation, taking time for each other, and supporting one another endlessly. Never stop communicating and working with one another through it all; for love does conquer all.

Be sure to check out DJ Jay Claxton and Dr. Casay Vaughn’s Love & Business on Lock podcast where the two talk about love and relationships with other couple-preneurs. Also, stay tuned for their upcoming clothing line FRNCHS- yup, that’s “Franchise” but without the vowels. DJ Jay has some great stuff coming your way, and just know he wouldn’t get anything done without his right-hand woman Dr. Casay helping every step of the way.

We celebrate black love and union this February.
