Maïa Barouh ignites Asian revolution with satirical video for album banger ‘ChinXoise’!

The Franco-Japanese singer, rapper, producer, and musician surprises us again with a stunning music video for one of the highlight tracks that appeared on her latest album, ‘Aïda’, released at the end of 2022.

‘ChinXoise’ is an ambitious short film, full of energy, humour, and her signature integral sincerity. Directed by two young French directors, Jeanne Sigwalt and Oscarito Castro, in this clip, Maia finds herself the main actress in a cliché Japanese film that is drenched in sushi and samurai stereotypes.

Dressed first as a samurai and then as a geisha, her anger gradually builds until it explodes! Showcasing noble acting skills, to add to her growing list of creative accomplishments, Maia’s wit, charm, sass and technique of the highest elements begin to really shine through.

The film studio aspect of this video also lays waste to the underbelly of modern societal environments, which can often lead to these kinds of clichés. Fiction or not, Maïa will take the upper hand and control of her film, she will not give in. The idea of the film set, and the technical team represents a small living society, with each one playing its own role. In her procession there are Chinese and Japanese fishmongers, the same guys becoming samurai, a Mongolian, a Cambodian and Japanese artist, ladies dancing in geisha costume and full make up, with Maia all the while growing into a Franco-Japanese Marianne (the French symbol of justice and liberty), as she takes the lead of this motley crew who start rebelling with her.

This, like much of Maia’s brilliant work stands up against injustice and points wholeheartedly towards a brave march against international racism, which celebrates our differences and our multiple identities, it’s aim is to ignite thought, feeling and a direction towards change along with the joy of taking up the fight together!

Outside of music, Who is Maïa Barouh in five words?

A music lover
A dance lover
A mother of 2
An animal lover

Can you tell us the inspiration behind your latest album “‘Aïda”?
identities of being between 2 worlds and walking on the borders

Who would you say are the musical influences that you tap into when creating new music?
artists who mix modern sounds and tribal sounds like La Chica, Lara Renno, Juana Molina…

What does your creative process look like?
There are no rules but it could be first a groove or a phrase that pops in.

Tell us more about ‘ChinXoise’.
It’s an anti-Asian racism song that was born after talking with my Asian friends about it.
I figured out that my mom, me, and my kids- 3 generations have experienced the same thing and that it has to change! There are more than 30 countries in Asia, so stop putting us all in the same box.
I wanted to talk about it with humor and madness! The fight for me is by celebrating our diversity together!

What can your supporters expect from you next?
A more acoustic project with horn enssemble?

I am from a country where love is the essence of life “South Africa”. Being in the public eye, caused controversies sometimes, and I have been ridiculed by patriarchs but never ever did I lose my courage, determination, and dignity. I am the epitome of beauty mixed with intelligence, grace, and elegance. I sometimes prove a point to all women that “life is a one-time offer, and thus you should enjoy every bit of it”. In all my interviews and Instagram posts, I am always challenging those norms of society that are detrimental to the “growth of women. I don’t want to be the “good girl” or the “nice girl” or the girl who minds her manners and chooses politeness over honesty and authenticity ever again. I want to be bold and brave and unapologetic in my ME-NESS and take up space and use my voice and not be afraid to speak my truth even if my voice shakes. I don’t want to make myself smaller for any reason, ever again.

If I’m “a lot”…go find less. Don’t ask me to apologize ever again for any part of who I am, or who I’m not. Being a victor of gender base violence I have since opened my own Non-profitable organization called “Women Power Force SA.

I spent years apologizing for being me. I let people judge me, shame me, and make me feel inferior. My path and purpose were always unclear because I couldn’t move until I felt like I was doing the “right” thing by the people around me. I was unintentionally handing over my personal power on a regular basis. I was letting people’s opinions dictate how I saw myself. Every little comment or look of disapproval mattered to me. I was daily tormented by my need to please. I am not that girl anymore. I don’t know what happened, I guess it just finally dawned on me that people couldn’t make me feel like shit without my consent.

I set out on a mission to fall in love with myself and find the courage to stand in my truth. It’s been a long journey but I’m finally learning how to give myself permission to be all that I am. It’s strange how we once lived picture-perfect lives. We hide the pain and shame behind fake smiles. I remember myself naïve but trying to help my ex’s family member when it came to the abuse she endured. In the end, Life gave me a pamphlet for Victim Support. I laughed out loud, with bitter tears streaming down my flooded-blooded eyes. Yes, a stranger violated my private space, the stranger who was married to me. That took a while to unwind, and make myself feel safe in my world again. But that didn’t mean I was a victim. I never considered myself a victim. No matter what happened. Yet, we live in a culture where Victim Mentality is rife. People love to label themselves as victims. Indulging in ‘poor me’, life is so hard unfair mentality is victimhood. Ladies, some of you are guilty of this. So many out there do this. It becomes a mantra. But that doesn’t make it normal or necessary. Trauma happens to all of us. Becoming a victim is a Choice.

Being the woman that I am, I felt the word Victim to be very disempowering. We literally give our power away to the hands of the abuser and all the people they recruit in their party. It is a great way to avoid life. It keeps us stuck. To avoid having to participate, create, make decisions, and live like a sovereign. It gives us an excuse to blame others and our circumstances, instead of looking at how we are abandoning ourselves. If someone is on a spiritual path, and this may be their pattern, there can’t be any growth while they are in that state. If our identity revolves around our pain and suffering, we can never let go of our suffering, as our whole world and our relationships depend on this false identity and that’s the poorest choice, we can make for ourselves. There’s no real love or connection in it. It may feel real, but that’s because we haven’t tasted the real stuff.

Could you be perpetuating this victim pattern? Let’s change the narrative from Activism to Action. Be the woman who cheers other women on. Be happy to be part of a sisterhood contributing to a trusted environment for other women to thrive. True beauty is women supporting and lifting each other rather than belittling and demoralizing one another. we have a multifaceted, integral role to play in building families, communities, nations, and healthy relationships. Let’s be mindful of our words and behavior and let’s conduct ourselves in a valuable, worthy, and admirable manner. Let’s not underestimate the influence we have on others, let’s not recruit members in smear campaigns.

Let’s be conscious, positive mothers, partners, wives, sisters, daughters, aunts, cousins, friends, grandmothers, and in-laws are many essentials to healthy relationships. Let’s start by being respectful, communicative, and noble. Love yourself as you love others. Be a Woman of Worth, A true inspiration to your kids and the people around you. Make that choice flip the coin and join me in recruiting survivors to change their mindsets to VICTORS rather than VICTIMS. I realized long ago that the Fear Of Change was unsubstantiated.

Become women who people can’t shame because you can’t shame a woman who is unashamed. I have never felt prouder of myself than I do now. It is an honor and privilege to be a recipient of this Heroine Alumni Black Blazer 2023 ceremony as an “Influential Heroine of your Time 23.” Thank you Carol Mosiamo, I am eternally grateful for this platform and to be in a room with Powerful Women.

SARA LEW comes “Out of Nowhere”, with new melodic indie-rock single!

Born and raised in Roskilde with an English mother and Danish father, Sara Lewis Sørensen aka Sara Lew now lives in Copenhagen. Sara was trained as an electric guitarist at the Rhythmic Music conservatorium in Copenhagen. Throughout her career, Sara has always developed herself – and been a musical seeker – within jazz and improvisational music and through s.inger-songwriter, alternative rock and indie-folk-rock music.

Sara Lew’s new album “LOUD” is scheduled to come out on Cloudland Records in Autumn 2023.

Sara Lew’s new single ‘Shady Light’ is set to shine on the earth’s surface with its release on June 16th, 2023, as a precursor to her upcoming album ‘LOUD’, which she is getting ready to release in autumn 2023.

‘Shady Light’ is the second single to come from the new album, following ‘Out of Nowhere’, which picked up a lot of playlist additions around the world, as well as and airplay on Amazing Radio and Louder Than War Radio and a video premiere with Vents Magazine.

‘Shady Light’ is a real indie ballad. It’s about standing together in a relationship, constantly learning from each other, and sharing with each other and continuing to do so even though life is rushing by with different goals and ambitions.

On the song, Sara explains, “It’s about standing together in a relationship even in a heavy storm when everything else is falling apart around you. It’s about daring to experiment and be vulnerable and stand on new land together. And though there still must be food on the table and the family must endure, to have the ability to seek refuge together in the very close moments, in love, in moments and special spaces of timeless being, where everything else is suspended.”

“I wrote the song after a long summer holiday where there was finally some peace, after a long and intense period.”, She adds.

Sara Lew’s upcoming album “LOUD” is all based around the development of life. It’s about when young people become adults and experience personal confrontations with the past, in which family stories of shame and taboo culture arise from the subconscious. It explores how to rein in anger and grief, to keep your head above water and be a role model for your own children when life all falls apart and how to protect love and togetherness when everyday life rolls on. Essentially, it’s an album about living in the present moment with love for life’s stories, memories, moments of happiness but also life’s unforeseen, manifold trip wires.

‘Shady Light’ takes more of a free-flowing chilled out atmospheric route to ‘Out Of Nowhere’, with intimate washed out moods that are perfect for thoughtful meditation. The music is played and arranged by Sara Lew (vocals and guitars), Anders Filipsen (keyboards/synth) and Jeppe Gram (drums). The track was recorded by, and in collaboration with, sound and studio engineers Troels Bech Jessen and Casper Nyvang Rask. It was produced by Sara Lew, and mixed & co-produced by Nis Bysted (Iceage & Choir of Young Believers), with mastering by Emil Thomsen.

  1. Where would you say your love for music started?

At home when I was a child, my father played guitar, mostly blues. I learned a lot from him in the beginning and we did a lot of singing in the family. I started early playing the violin, then drums, then guitar and singing. At school we had a great music teacher and I played in different bands. I lived in Roskilde from the age of 12, so I’ve seen a lot of concerts every year at Roskilde Festival.

  • Can you reflect on your childhood, who were your musical influences?

From my grandparents’ jazz, classical music, and church music. My British grandmother liked swing jazz, especially Frank Sinatra. My Danish grandparents worked at the church and therefore I spent a lot of time in church with them. From my parents I picked up the sound of jazz, blues and classical music, and all kinds of pop & rock.

Back to childhood, I remember albums I had myself, especially the ones by Suzanna Vega, Sinéad O’Connor and Tracy Chapman.

From the time of my youth, albums from The Sandmen to Radiohead and Soundgarden. Later in my journey as a musician I’ve been spending a lot of time on different genres and periods from alternative country to all jazz and experimental jazz, electronic noise, then more singer songwriter and alternative indie bands.

  • Tell us a little about your culture and how it shows up in your music?

I’ve always been influenced by my parents and their friends, their interests in people and life, politics and movements in society and their love for music and art overall, sort of an academic hippie home environment. My parents are divorced, and I moved to my father around the age of 12, he lived with my stepmom, in a kind of collective where there was a lot of gatherings with their friends, so a lively home. Also, a great impact has been that my mum is English, and I’ve been learning both from my Danish/Scandinavian family as well as my British family. Even though the countries and cultures can look and feel similar, there are also a lot of things that are very different.

I have used a lot of time on creative processes, improvisation, philosophy of mind; to stand in the open and be big ears to what the moment or the song calls for, both in music but also in life. Some of those processes I also recognise from how I have been raised, to be aware of your inner voice, how you feel and what you mean, so it feels like a natural way to work with music and music creation.

  • Tell us about your new project “Out of Nowhere”, can you share the inspiration behind it?

The song is written in deep feelings of powerlessness and anger when accepting what life brings you. Written after losing a person close to you to cancer.

  • What can listeners expect from this project that is different from your previous work?

The whole album is written during and after a powerful time in my life, with a lot of changing, recognition and crossing a deeper touch on past stories and present choices. I’ve been using a lot of time on the sound of the album, the structures, arrangements, the acoustic live played feel, the songs versus the more experimental moments. It’s simpler and minimalistic in terms of instrumentation and the melodies more jazz/bluesy/root in sound.  I have opened up to my past in jazz music and mixed it with the alternative rock sound. An important choice was to get the album sound and production as close to my demos as possible.

  • Take us back to the beginning, what did the creative process entail for this project?

I took a long time, over two years, just making a lot of sketches, text fragments, short melodies, and lines, before I needed to put them into actual songs. Also, I worked on different tunings and sounds for the guitar. And then I used a long time on choosing who to work with. I needed to be safe and certain in the process not hesitating anything.

  • What can we expect from you next?

I have a new single coming up, in many ways opposite to this single (Out of Nowhere) which is wild and experimenting. The next song has a more song-writer indie/pop/folky sound.

  • What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?

A pretty women who hustles is a girl who, full of passion, keeps on playing electric guitar on a music scene full of male players. With love for all she learned from jazz and improvisational music, she follows her inner voice and the song writing path. Hopefully she and other women musicians can influence other girls and empower them to be independent female musicians.

Watch Out out of Nowhere

Meet Author Aggie Jordan

Aggie Jordan is the former founder and CEO of Jordan-DeLaurenti, Inc, a training and contract management company, and the author of “A Woman’s Voice Should Be Heard. My Journey from the Convent to the Battle for Women’s Equality.” Since selling this business, writing has been her life’s work. A former small business columnist for the Dallas Times Herald, Prime Women, an online magazine, and a writer for The View, the monthly magazine for the Sun City Shadow Hills Community in Indio, California. Aggie has produced over 60 articles for these publications. Aggie has enjoyed traveling with her husband to over 75 countries. She has been a guest on many television shows, including the CBS Morning Show and ABC Good Morning Dallas, as well as several radio broadcasts. A native of West Pittston, Pennsylvania, a former nun, a teacher, and a relationship counselor, Aggie hopes to inspire women to have their voices heard whenever, wherever, and by whoever challenges their rights to human equality.

First things first, how did you develop an interest in writing?

I joined my local library in West Pittston, PA, at seven. I loved writing book reports about those books. Even in the summer, I would read and write from an early age. English was my major in college, and when I went to graduate school, I thrived on research and writing. In my training company, we would write marketing proposals and training manuals. I also wrote a Small Business Column for the Dallas Times Herald newspaper in Texas. After I sold my company, I knew my first task was to write my book (“The Marriage Plan: How To Marry Your Soul Mate in One Year or Less”). So many women over my years of management training have followed the plan. They encouraged me to write that first book. I was delighted with its success. But because I have written the first book, it doesn’t make the next ones easier. Writing a memoir is the most difficult because you must tell the truth as you know it. Capturing the truth takes time, much thought, and research.

When did you realize you had a story that the world needed to hear?

In working with women in corporations, I used personal examples in my life that would serve as helpful models to assist the class in being assertive. The women eventually saw that their situation was not unique, and my stories were their stories. One exception was my life as a nun, of course. People would ask me, “Why did you leave the convent? Why did you enter?” And rarely, “Why did you stay?” My answers to those questions always felt inadequate. I gave off-the-cuff answers to solemn questions. And so I began to examine my life from childhood on. When we start that serious examination of our lives, stories evolve. Things I hadn’t thought of in years began to make sense as I wrote. And finally, the book was born, “A Woman’s Voice Should Be Heard: My Journey From The Convent To The Battle For Women’s Equality.” I also took a memoir class led by a woman who encouraged me to “write that book.” I want women to know the history of the most recent battles for equality and how we have progressed. It was because we spoke out.

What was the writing process like? Did you come up with your title first and build around it, or did the manuscript come first?

The title evolved as I wrote and edited the manuscript. When we write, we often don’t know where the stories are going; one has to go with them. As you review, you find some connections you never thought about before. As I weighed my stories: the introductory of my grandmother’s voice, and then my mother’s, and then the lack of voice in the convent, the lack of women’s voices in the Catholic Church, my struggles to be heard as a university administrator in a male environment, the attempt to silence my voices in the convent, and other women’s in so many situations, I asked the question: Where did I first know that my and other women’s voices needed to be heard? It was at General Motors with the help of three powerful and articulate women.

This led to my dedication to training women and managers to co-exist by listening to each other. Both voices are worth hearing. Managers need to respect their female employees’ insights. Women are often more willing to pay close attention to their managers’ words. I hear from women today that misogyny is rampant in their work environment. Progress has been made, but the battle is still going on. Women all over the world are paid less than men. The same injustice is raging in America as well.

What is the message behind your title?

I wanted women to know that our voices, often ignored or silenced, can only be heard when we make our point worth hearing. Women must believe in themselves, in their own worth. My book intends for women to know the history of this battle for equality and why now, they must be heard. With the Dodd decision of the US Supreme Court sending the abortion decisions back to the states, women of all ages must be awakened to the need to be heard. We must rise to action. We must understand that our vote will determine whether we will retain our rights. Today women throughout the world suffer from misogyny. They are treated like chattel. American women feel free. At least, we did until June 2022. When others deny their freedom, they will fight.

Can you share 3 takeaways you would like women to take away from your book?

1. Women, let your voice be heard for those causes and values you find most important.

2. Do not hesitate to believe in yourself as a woman. Enjoy your femininity. Take pride in your talents and your choices.

3. Do one thing each day to make another woman’s day better. It will make yours fantastic and honor your women friends.

At any moment during your writing process, did you experience writer’s block? What tips do you have for overcoming it?

If writer’s block is a disappointment with what you produce or have produced, the answer is yes. I have rewritten the book many times over the last ten years, each time abandoning it for another version. The result after the first year ended up in the trash. I eventually turned my attention to writing articles for a magazine. Then I completed a dull autobiography. It had no theme, which a memoir must have. Until I decided to take a year dedicated to writing my memoir, it just didn’t happen. I hired a developmental editor who inspired me to bring my stories to life, and the manuscript became something I was proud to finish.

Take me through the first moment you held your book in your hands; what did that feel like for you?

When the box the publisher sent arrived, an electric charge passed through my body. As I drew back the tape and raised the top, the book appeared with my photo and name on the cover. I grabbed the book, yelling like a maniac for my husband. He thought something terrible had happened. But when he saw the book, he just hugged me. My graphic designer did a fabulous job. I was overjoyed at how striking it was. At that moment, it was also a relief. After all those years, I finished it, and it looked great.

Although this was my third book, seeing one’s book in print never gets old. But equally exciting was the moment the email from my publisher, Legacy Book Press, came, announcing that it wanted to publish my book. This publishing company is a woman-owned publisher. I was just about ready to self-publish when it arrived. That was a thrilling relief for me.

What would you say was the most challenging part of your writing process?

So many challenges. Writing the Epilogue on the importance of friendship took time and thought. I wanted to get that right. My friends, both men and women, have been a treasure. I recognized throughout the writing process that it is the women who urged me on, who spent time listening to my bitching sessions about the book, or so much else, that has always given me the courage to go on. My women friends at the University of Notre Dame started and encouraged my transformation, my belief in myself. And there have been women supporting me at every transition in my life. This recognition deepened my determination to honor my women friends through this chapter.

What key tips do you have for marketing your book and getting it out to the masses? What audience is your book written for?

Marketing can be more difficult than writing your book. For me, it is not my expertise. I’m a writer, not a salesperson. There are plenty of tips online that work. One that sparked more ideas than any other in this digital age was Sandra Beckwith’s Book Buzz. Another is to hire a digital publicist if you can afford it. Another—use your website. If you don’t have one, get one. Yes, get one. Use your email list and your friends to direct you.

My book is written for all adult women. Women who fought the late 20th century battles identify with the memoir easily. Women are currently trying to move ahead in their careers, and women entrepreneurs find the courage to win the conquests on their fronts. Young women fighting for their rights over their bodies learn how much courage they need to win their battles. They recognize that their vote in coming elections will determine their freedoms, and they are ready for the struggle. I want to be there to support the cause. I hope our readers will also.

We had the amazing opportunity of sitting down with AnGala and discovering her passion and story behind her brand DivaSpeaks.

Who is AnGala Portorreal in five words?
Funny, warm, sophisticated,intelligent and Godly

Tell us about Dallas and Charlotte, how has the entrepreneurial scene shifted for you since moving?
Since moving from Dallas to Charlotte, I had a shift in my mindset. I went from working a 9-5, helping corporations build wealth and establish their brands to; wanting a create something of my own. Once I began that journey of building my own business and brand; it ignited a fire within me to work towards entrepreneurship.

How are you currently blazing your trail in the Charlotte area?
I am one of the first black women to have their own televised relationships talk show and create a Roku channel dedicated to the best of throwback entertainment and relationships.

You went from the corporate world to business woman, can you share how your job in corporate prepared you for where you are today in business?
My time in corporate America educated and prepared me in so many ways. I have learned the art of conflict resolution, embracing different cultures, back grounds and mind sets. Professionalism and customer service are my biggest take away from the corporate world. In addition to using my skill set of Accounting and Finance to manage my assets and the wealth I continue to build.

Tell us about your talk show?
DivaSpeaks Relationships is a talk show dedicated to having discussions about the issues and challenges of relationships. The show addresses finances, infidelity, romance. restoration, reconciliation, adultery and situationships. Over the past couple of years, DivaSpeaks has added a new segment called the “TALK THAT TALK” edition. The new edition allows fans, followers and subscribers to write the show about their relationships problems to get feedback or solutions to their issues.

You are what some would consider a relationship expert, what advice do you have for women in business trying to balance business and new relationships?
My advice: Love and family are important. Make the time! What good is it to build the empire with no one to share it with? Balancing will not be easy, so don’t expect it to be. There will be times where you will struggle or become frustrated with trying to balance that new relationship and your career. Give yourself grace, relax, breathe, this is normal. You will figure it out!

What message do you hope women take away from your podcast show?
My take away to women from my television show is: Dont buy into this toxic cancel culture! Dont be so quick to walk away or throw away your relationships / marriages when trouble comes to visit and the issues have not been resolved within 3-5 business days! Give grace, have patience, protect your relationships with privacy, keep God first and keeps everyone else out of your relationships.

You are preparing a new project in relations to your new relationship games, can you share a little about that and what your audience can expect?
DivaSpeaks Relationships is developing a new line of hosts that will deliver their own perspectives and relationships advice. Speakers from older generations, younger generations and the deep South will have a chance to share their experiences and point of views on relationships.

Where do you see your platform in the next 3-5 years?
Within the next 3-5 years, I see the platform expanding national exposure or becoming a household name along with the games.

What has been the inspiration behind your music and the brand Zen City?

Just to create feel good music that matches the times but also create something that has timeless potential for years to come, we are still building our sound, so the best is yet to come.

What challenges did you have to overcome to get where you are today?

We face many challenges because we don’t live in the same state so it gets hard sometimes for us to be as effective in the brand as we would like. With the help of our team, we get it done and they keep us busy and working. Being a duo is something the industry is lacking in mainstream music today, so we are making our presence known around the world!

What has been the most rewarding part of your journey?

The most rewarding part of this journey for us is the growth in our artistry, the team we have, the people and creatives we have met that we are building. Waking up every day to know that we’re living out our dreams is an amazing feeling.

If you could tribute your career to one person or thing who would be and why?

The most important people are our families because they keep us sane and whole but most important God because he’s the reason we are fortunate to share our gift.

What tips do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to break into the music industry?

The tips that we always give when asked this is to be in the know of your business, be loyal to your team, trust the process by keeping God first, and make sure you do the work.

What does success look like for you?

For us success is financial freedom, being able to take care of our responsibilities, and aim for being #1 on those R&B charts.

What is next for you?

Next for us is a new buzz single dropping BET Weekend titled “Levelz” along with a music video which all drops June 23. Be on the lookout for our EP dropping in September, so we are super excited to share that with you all!

We had the amazing opportunity of speaking with VV to discuss her passion, her determination and her plans for the future. We are excited for you to take a look into her incredible story:

When did you realize you had a gift for entertaining others?

I feel like I’ve always been blessed by God with some amazing gifts from birth. I taught myself to play the drums by age 2 and I have always love to dance since I can remember. I’ve enjoyed bringing laugher and joy to others for a long time now.

Where would you say your family’s gift of comedy comes from?

It has just come to natural to all of us. We are a funny bunch of people and enjoy laughing and do almost anything to make others laugh. My grandparents definitely past it down to me.

What does a typical day in the life of VV look like?

A typical week day would sometimes be in person school but sometimes online on the road school. I have events and guest appearances during the day sometimes. Appearing at school events in NC and evening homework, dance or acting rehearsals about 2 to 3 days a week. Weekends are always busy. Sometimes it’s 2 days shows, stage plays or comedy events and even sometimes dance concerts or events with my dance Academy, iDance Praise Academy (I’m the Jr. Captain, my mom is the owner of the academy), and of course Sundays when we can go to church, I love church!!

How would you describe your creative process for videos?

I am an out of the box thinker, so my videos show my naturally funny true self. I live coming up with ideas to make my video creative and orginal.

Can you remember your first viral video, what did that experience feel like for you?

Wow, my 1st viral video was at least 3 years ago. I wanted to be a doll baby because I love baby dolls alot! I called myself “The hold my hand & I’ll walk with you” doll. I asked my sister to be my human owner. I told her the I was battery operated and she had to press the palm of my hand to get me to work and say my catch phrases. I asked mom and dad to record. They posted it and the next morning it was at over 3 million views. The people said they were amazed how I stayed in character while my sister and parents laughed and reacted in the background. I was about 8 or 9 years old. It was an amazing feeling and I’ve been on the move ever since. I’m so grateful to God because I love acting so much so to do this for a living has been so awesome.

Where do you hope to see your platform in the next 3-5 years? What are your hopes for the future?

I know That with God and my family support I will see myself on larger and greater platform and more major opportunities. I’ve done small film, ads, magazines, small shows, but I see myself in major films. I want to do something with Kel Mitchell, (Good Burger) a movie with Kevin Hart, and of course a tv series Tyler Perry. I’d love to have my social media show turned into an actual show, maybe even my own network!

What is your definition of a Pretty Girl Who Hustles?

Dr Tania King-Mohammad – Property, Wealth & Business Strategist, Founder of Freedom With Tania

Dr Tania King-Mohammad is a former NHS doctor and now self-made property, wealth and business strategist whose mission it is to help other like-minded people and entrepreneurs to unlock wealth and freedom through online business growth and smart property investments. Through her business, Freedom With Tania, Tania helps thousands of people to change their lives, and was able to move her family to Ibiza from the UK to walk her talk of creating wealth and freedom in tandem.

What Inspired your start into entrepreneurship?

Growing up dual heritage, from an English and Iraqi family in Hertfordshire, I was taught at a young age to be hard-working and ambitious.

I followed the career path that was expected of me and qualified as a Doctor, progressing through the ranks to reach the pinnacle of my career as a radiology consultant.

However, the dream wasn’t all it was made out to be; met with impossible workloads, exhausting shift patterns and the crucifying responsibility of saving lives, I felt overwhelmed and unprepared for my ‘dream’ career in medicine.

After losing my mother in 2012, I vowed to live a freedom-based life filled with adventure, and so set about making this happen. I knew I wanted to give my family the life and adventures she had always craved but didn’t get the chance to see.

I started exploring the world of property investing and after selling my first home with my husband and moving into a rental property, I focused my new money mindset on investing funds into rent-to-rent property and homes I could renovate, refinance and rent on the short-term rental market.

With others keen to learn how I did it, I started a coaching and mentoring business for those wanting to get into property in Sept 2020 and within five months I had generated nearly over $100,000 and things were really taking off. I was starting to become known in the online community for my property expertise and saw the opportunity to really make this the focus and the conduit to living the freedom-based life I had committed to.

I built up a bank of properties which I rented out on the short-term rental market (Airbnb etc…) and in 2021 I quit my job to pursue my growing coaching and property businesses and Freedom With Tania was born. Now I live in Ibiza with my family and sometimes make more than double my old annual Doctor’s salary in a month! I love that I now get to mentor people and entrepreneurs in business growth and strategy, as well as property investing and creating true, generational wealth.

What obstacles have you had to overcome to get where you are today?

In the property space, it’s always a challenge to push yourself further out of your comfort zone and do deals which you’ve not done before.

In the online mentoring space, what I find challenging is when people recognise they need the right support and mentorship but hold themselves back from taking it for numerous reasons. I believe in mentorship and the right expert support so strongly, as it’s the sure fire way to achieving your desired success faster, with fewer mistakes and being able to fast-track your results.

Overall, my biggest obstacle was to completely transform my mindset, from one which seriously held me back (for 30+ years of my life, I now recognise that I always thought and therefore acted small), into an expansive one which encourages me to grow and consistently push myself beyond my comfort zone. I teach my students in property and online business how to do this using my Leading Edge Framework, where consistently pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone (which I call your leading edge), means that you’re consistently innovating and evolving as a person and entrepreneur and progressing towards your goals.

What message of hope do you have for upcoming entrepreneurs?

Success requires an awareness that if your current situation isn’t one that aligns with your highest values nor the lifestyle you want to live, that a decision needs to be made to do something about it.

Commit to pushing yourself consistently out of your comfort zone, and with this take messy imperfect action. One of my mottos is ‘progress over perfection, every time’ which I can honestly say is one key principle I have embodied that has gotten me from where I was just a few years ago, broke, in thousands of £££ credit card debt and stuck in a career and life which didn’t fulfil me, to where I am now.

Surround yourself with the people who are achieving the results that you want to achieve. Yes, you can do it all alone, and possibly achieve the results you want, but by aligning yourself with other entrepreneurs taking bold action, making big moves and enjoying big results, you accelerate your progress and achieve your desired results faster because you start to normalise that bold action-taking behaviour which others around you are implementing, which sparks your brain into thinking ‘they’re doing it, how can I do it too?’.

I honestly believe that if there are people who’ve already achieved what you want, there is absolutely no reason why you can’t too. Your success is there for the taking, let’s go and get it!

What are your top 3 go to songs for motivation to keep going after your goals?

  1. Giant – Rag ‘n’ Bone Man
  2. Wealthy – Maat Petrova of FEMMAGIC
  3. Being real is the new fake – Toni Jones

What is your definition of a pretty woman who hustles?

It’s the woman who is confident first and foremost in herself, who feels beauty, accomplishment and success first within herself, before achieving anything on the exterior and before any external gratification.

It’s the woman who keeps going, keeps fighting for her cause, because the mission she’s fighting for is so much bigger than just ‘herself’. She wants impact, to spread her message far and wide to help other women realise they too can live the life of their wildest dreams.

It’s the woman who isn’t scared of failure, because she knows with failure comes the opportunity to be bigger, better and more successful than before. Failure is one of the keys to growth, the other is staying consistent and not giving up.

She is the woman who is always striving for success for wider impact and will always take others with her, always building a longer table, not a higher fence.
